Chapter 138
I continued, “Five years back, you got snatched, and my brother showed up just in time to save you, giving you a shot at getting away. His eyes got messed up with chemicals, and he’s been blind ever since. You made a joke out of him, let others talk trash, and you didn’t even say thanks. You’re lower than a dog.
“You are all murderers, and I won’t let this go.”
With my words, they all went quiet, heads down.
Gina wasn’t feeling sorry, just annoyed.
She argued, “We didn’t do anything that bad. It was an accident, and calling us murderers? That’s way out of line.
“Plus, your brother was blind and he couldn’t do anything. He was just a burden for you. It was just a stroke of bad luck. No one is to blame for that.”
I couldn’t help but sneer, “So, I should be grateful to you, huh? I guess your folks aren’t exactly young and lively. I’d say they’re more of a burden for you. How about I relieve you of them? What do you say? Are you going to get on your knees and show me some gratitude?”
Gina was speechless for a second, anger flashing in her eyes.
“How could it be the same? Your brother’s just taking up space,” Gina snapped.
Antonio shot her a dirty look. “Stop it. Just shut your mouth.”

700 When hers
Gina sulked, not liking being told off by Antonio.
They were born with a sense of superiority, thinking that they could walk all over people. Other folks‘ lives were nothing to them.
But I wasn’t backing down. I wouldn’t just let go of the ones who hurt my brother.
I made to walk away.
Antonio came running after me, grabbing my arm. “Grace, where are you going? Let me make things right, please. You are alone now, and I swear I’ll look after you.”
twisted my arm free. “Make it right? Can you make my brother come back? You’re a deadbeat, Antonio. We’re done, and it’s better if we never cross paths again.”
I kept walking, tuning out his desperate calls.
From then on, we were through, cut off for good.

I didn’t waste any time after leaving Antonio’s place. I hit the hospital to get my injuries documented. I needed proof of the assault.
I was set on getting justice for my brother’s death.
After the check–up, I reached out to a lawyer, but he gave it to me straight. My chances of winning were slim to none.
Antonio and Gina were from rich families, with deep pockets and the best legal brains money could buy.

This whole thing would likely be written off as an accident. There was no intent to kill, just a death from carelessness. It would probably end with them paying out some cash. To them, money was the universal solution, and this was no exception.
I refused to accept that.
Even though I’d been working in Antonio’s company, I started my own blog, posting regularly, and slowly gaining a following.
I laid out the whole story on my blog and hit publish.
The post went viral in no time, racking up over ten thousand views in just an hour.
Public sentiment was all I’d got left to cling to.
But as expected, my post got flagged and yanked down soon. I wasn’t exactly shocked to know who was likely behind it.
Then, out of the blue, Antonio called, but I blocked his number directly.
To my surprise, he showed up on my doorstep, looking like he’d been through the wringer. A glint of hope sparked in his eyes when he saw me. “Grace, why didn’t you pick up my calls?”
A sneer escaped me. “Why didn’t pick up your calls? Mr. Kaufman, you’ve got to know why”
My words hit Antonio hard.
