I sighed. “The kids are adjusting, surprisingly, Killian is good with them.” I said. “I never expected him to be so good with my children. It’s confusing.
Eveline nodded. “People are complex, Adeline. Sometimes, we see sides of them we never knew existed. What matters is how you feel and what you want.” She said, “How is it going on between Sebastien and Killian?” She asked.

After chatting for a while longer, Eveline gave me a warm hug, promising to keep in touch. As we walked down the hallway, I spotted Laurel coming out of the gynecologist’s office. Our eyes met, and for a moment, I was too stunned to speak She sauntered over with a smug expression.
“Adeline,” she drawled, her voice dripping with mockery. “Fancy seeing you here,” she added.
I tried to ignore her and walk away, but she stood in front of me and stopped me. She turned to my kids and bent down. I quickly put my hand in front of them, protectively.
“Hey sweethearts, why don’t you go sit there, your mom and I? We need to talk about something.” She said,
