Adeline West
For a moment, I was too stunned to respond. Of all the things he could have asked, this was the last thing I expected. The sheer audacity of the question made my blood boil. How dare he? How dare le question something so personal, something that had nothing to do with him? How fucking dare he??
Anger surged through me, and I felt my hands curl into fists at my sides. I glared at him, my eyes flashing with fury. Without a word, I turned on my heel and started walking back to my car, every muscle in my body tense with anger.
But before I could take more than a few steps, Killian’s hand shot out and grabbed my arm, pulling me back roughly. I stumbled, my body colliding with his, and for a brief moment, everything else faded away–the anger, the confusion, the hurt. All I could feel was the heat of his body against mine, the intoxicating scent of him filling my senses and clouding my thoughts.
He inhaled deeply, as if savoring my scent, and the sensation of it sent a shiver down my spine. I tried to wiggle out of his grasp, pushing against his chest, but he held me close, his grip firm and unyielding. His breath was warm against my skin, and when I looked up at him, I saw a storm of emotions swirling in his eyes–anger, frustration, and something else I couldn’t quite name.
“Let me go,” I demanded, my voice shaky but resolute.
He didn’t. Instead, he held me even closer; his eyes locked onto mine with an intensity that made my heart race.
“Not until you answer me,” he said, his voice rough with barely restrained anger. “Who is the father, Adeline?”
I glared at him, my anger flaring even hotter. “It’s none of your business,” I snapped, trying to pull away from him again.
“It is my business,” he growled, refusing to let me go. His grip tightened on my arm–not enough to hurt, but enough to let me know he wasn’t backing down. “I have a right to know.”
I scoffed, my anger boiling over. “A right? You think you have a right to know anything about my life? After everything you’ve done?”
“After everything I’ve done?” he shot back, his eyes narrowing. “You mean after everything you did? You lied to me. You cheated on me. And now you want to keep secrets from me?”
His words cut deep, reopening old wounds I’d thought had long since healed. But I refused to let him see how much it hurt. I refused to let him win.
“I cheated on you.” I repeated, unable to hide my disbelief.
He was the one who kept having an affair with Laurel when we were married, even after I told him that I was his mate. He kept seeing Laurel and continued to act like I never existed, and now he had the audacity to accuse me of cheating..

“I don’t owe you anything hissed, my voice trembling with barely suppressed rage. “You lost any right to know about my life the moment you threw me away like a used tissue.”

darkened, and I could see the anger simmering just beneath the surface. “You think I threw you away? You think I didn’t have a reason for why I banished you? You think I didn’t suffer because of what you did to me? My family?”
“What did I do to you?” I practically screamed, my voice echoing in the empty parking lot. “You’re the one who cast me out! Rejected me! Divorced me and Banished me for something I never did! You’re the one who refused to believe me and who
and now you refused to listen! and banished me!! You made your choice, Killian. You chose to believe the worst about me, want to question my choices? You have no right!”
His face twisted with fury, and for a moment, I thought he might actually lose control. But instead, he took a deep breath, his grip on me tightening even further. “Tell me the truth, Adeline,” he demanded, his voice low and dangerous. “Who is the father?”
“Why does it matter?” I shot back, my voice breaking with the force of my anger. “Why do you care?”
“Because-” He stopped himself, his jaw clenching as if he were physically restraining himself from saying something he’d
regret.
“Because I need to know,” he finally said, his voice a mere whisper.
The vulnerability in his tone threw me off balance. For a brief moment, the cold, arrogant alpha was gone, replaced by the man I used to know–the man I used to believe would love me some day. But it was only a flicker, and just as quickly as it appeared, it vanished, replaced once again by the cold, unyielding mask he always wore.
“It’s not your concern,” I said, my voice trembling with a mix of anger and hurt. “You have no claim on my Whatever happens to me, whoever is in my life, it has nothing to do with you.”

Killian’s eyes flashed with anger, and he stepped even closer, his face inches from mine. “I’m not letting you walk away without an answer, Adeline.” He said, using his alpha tone. I felt a chill run down my spine at his voice.
I met his gaze, refusing to back down. “Then you’ll be waiting a long time.”
We stood there, locked in a silent battle of wills, neither of us willing to give an inch. The tension between us crackled like a live wire, the air thick with unresolved emotions and unspoken words. I could feel his breath on my skin, I could see the anger burning in his eyes, and I knew that this was a fight neither of us would win.
Finally, I couldn’t take it anymore.
“You called me out here in the middle of the night, told me it was about the kids, and then you ask me this?” I said, my breaking with frustration and anger. “What the hell is wrong with you, Killian? Why are you doing this?”

He didn’t answer right away, his eyes boring into mine with an intensity that made my heart pound. “I need to know,” he repeated, his voice rough and strained. “I need to know who it is. Who did you move on with right after leaving the pack?”
I stared at him, my anger giving way to a wave of disbelief. “Moved on?” I echoed, my voice barely above a whisper. “You think this is about me moving on?”
Killian’s jaw tightened, his eyes never leaving mine. “Just answer the question,” he demanded, his voice filled with anger and impatience.
I felt a bitter laugh rise in my throat, but I swallowed it down, shaking my head in disbelief. “You’re unbelievable,” I muttered, my voice laced with bitterness. “You really think that after everything, I owe you that?”
Yes,” he said, his voice unwavering. “I do,” he added.
The sheer arrogance of his words was enough to make me see red. “You’re insane,” I spat, my voice shaking with fury. “You don’t get to demand answers from me, Killian. Not anymore. Not after you threw me away like I was nothing.

His grip on me loosened slightly, but he didn’t let go. He didn’t answer, his eyes searching mine as if looking for something
some sign, some hint of what he wanted to hear. But all I could feel was the anger, the hurt, and the betrayal that had been festering for years.
Killian’s eyes darkened, and I could see the anger simmering just beneath the surface. “I’ll never forgive you, he said, his voice low and dangerous. For what you did to me, For the lies and the betrayal. For killing my sister.
The accusation hit me like a physical blow, and I felt the air leave my lungs. For a moment, I couldn’t breathe and couldn’t think. All I could do was stare at him, the shock and pain of his words cutting deep.
“You don’t know anything.” I whispered, my voice trembling with the force of my emotions. “You think you know the truth, but you don’t. You don’t know what really happened.”
“Then tell me,” he demanded, his voice rough with barely restrained anger. “Tell me the truth, Adeline.”
But I couldn’t. I couldn’t bring myself to say the words, to relive the nightmare that had haunted me for so long. The blood, the image of her laying in a pool of her blood, rushed to my mind. The truth was too painful, too raw, and I wasn’t ready to face it–not yet.
Instead, I pulled away from him, wrenching my arm free from his grasp.
“You don’t deserve the truth,” I said, my voice shaking with the force of my anger and hurt.
