Adeline West,
Killian took a step forward, his presence overwhelming in the room. Flis angry gray eyes fixed on me. “And what happe when they realize the world is bigger than the little bubble you’ve kept them in? Adeline. They have a father who’s willingn fight for them, protect them, and give them the future they deserve=”
“They already have a future,” I snapped, glaring at him. “A future that doesn’t involve your pack, your enemies, or your control.”

‘re not safe out there,” Killian growled, his control slipping. “You think keeping them away from me, from the park. protecting them? You have no idea what kind of danger you’ve put them in by keeping them a secret.”
“Danger?” The accusation hit me like a punch to the gut. “They’ve been safe for four years–because of me” I said, my voice filled with anger. “So, you don’t get to lecture me about keeping them safe, Killian. You weren’t here. You don’t know what I’ve been through, what they’ve been through.”
Samuel raised his hand, trying to calm us down before the tension exploded. “Enough, both of you.” He turned to me, his voice softer now, almost pleading
“Adeline, I understand your anger. But you have to see the reason. Tristan and Bridget aren’t just Killian’s children; they’re my grandchildren. We’ve already lost so much… Claire was taken from us, and Killian’s mother has never been the same. She’s been broken since the day we lost Claire.”
My heart twisted at the mention of Claire. The tragedy of her death still weighed heavily on everyone who knew her. Even though she bullied me, she was Killian’s sister. I had no desire to reopen that wound, but I couldn’t let Samuel manipulate me into making decisions based on guilt.
“I’m sorry for what happened to Claire,” I said, my voice softer now, but still resolute. “But that doesn’t change the fact that I’m not going back. I won’t uproot my children and take them to a place where I was cast out and left to fend for myself. I won’t expose them to that.”

Samuel’s expression was full of sorrow, and I could see the cracks in his composure. “I understand, Adeline, but this isn’t just about you. Killian’s mother… She needs this. She needs to know that she has grandchildren, who are safe and part family. She’s suffered enough loss. Please, don’t take them away from her, too.”
My chest tightened with the weight of his words. They were playing on my emotions, trying to make me feel like the villain for protecting my children. But I couldn’t let them break me. I couldn’t let them use their grief to control me.
“I’m not responsible for fixing your family,” I said, my voice trembling but firm. “I won’t let my children be the glue that holds you all together. They’re not pawns.”
Killian’s patience snapped, and his voice turned sharp. “I’m not going to ask again, Adeline. If you don’t agree to come back with me, I’ll take them myself. I’ll use every resource at my disposal, and trust me, you won’t be able to stop me.”
The threat hung in the air, heavy and suffocating. I felt my blood run cold.
“You can’t be serious,” I whispered, my eyes wide with shock. “You’d take them away from me?” I said in disbelief. “They’re my children too,” Killian growled, stepping closer. “I’m their father. I have every right to take them back.”
A cold fury surged through me, and before I could react, Sebastian stepped in, his body rigid with anger. through me first, Killian, You’re not taking those kids anywhere.”

Kiljan’s eyes locked with Sebastian’s, and for a moment, the air crackled with the tension between them. I could see the primal rage in Killian’s expression, and I knew that if Samuel weren’t in the room, this would escalate into something violent

Killian’s eyes narrowed dangerously. “Don’t test me, Sebastian. You have no idea what you’re getting into.” He said.
amuel quickly intervened, stepping between the two men. “This isn’t helping. We’re not going to solve anything by threatening each other”
Killian’s jaw denched, his eyes still fixed on Sebastian, but he stepped back, his fists curling and uncurling at his sides. Samuel turned back to me, his expression weary but determined.
“Trust me, I understand that this is difficult, Adeline,” Samuel said, his voice gentle now. “But please, we are not your enemies. We just can’t lose them too. I know you don’t want to hear this, but Tristan and Bridget belong with their family, with their pack Killian’s enemies are watching, waiting for any sign of weakness. If word gets out about the children, they’ll become targets. They need to be protected.”
Sebastian’s voice was cold as he cut in. “You’re asking Adeline to put her trust in the same people who cast her out, who abandoned her. Why should she believe a word you say?”
Samuel ignored him and kept his gaze fixed on me. “You need to think about what’s best for the children, Adeline. This isn’t about you or Killian. It’s about their future.”
I swallowed hard, my throat dry. The fear of putting my children in danger was something I couldn’t ignore. But I couldn’t trust them. Not after everything.
“I need time,” I said finally, my voice strained. “You’ve thrown a lot at me, and I won’t make any decisions without thinking about what’s best for my kids. But I’m not making any promises.”
Samuel nodded, though I could see the disappointment in his eyes. “Fair enough,” he said, though his tone suggested he wasn’t entirely convinced. “But don’t take too long. Time isn’t on your side, Adeline. You need to think about what’s best for them.”
I turned on my heel and left the room, my heart heavy with the weight of everything that had just happened. I couldn’t breathe, couldn’t think clearly. I just knew that whatever happened next, nothing would be the same again.
