Alaric’s POV
I’ve become someone I don’t even recognize.
“Today is September 19–Alaric.”
Cara doesn’t respond to my text message.
Then I realize: the other times Cara hasn’t responded, it was on account of her husband. When Aylon Aubum blocked my number on Cara’s phone, that wasn’t her own doing. It had been his doing.
But this time, it was Cara herself ignoring me. Rejecting me.
It was no one else’s choice, but hers alone.
I find a chair in the hospital hallway and take a seat, collecting my thoughts.
Many people pass by, nurses and various staff. Some even try to speak to me, but I’m in no mood to be social.
“Hello, Alpha King!”
“Wonderful weather we’re having today, isn’t it?”
“Alpha King, we are so glad to see you here again!”
My mood was a bit off, but I still greeted them. “Hello.”
“…Oh!”
Clearly, I startle them. I pressed my lips together, knowing that not everyone could be like Cara, who was never intimidated by the Alpha king’s pressure.
“Today is a difficult day,” my wolf Grey says to me internally.
I sigh aloud. Difficult indeed.

“She totally doesn’t remember what this day is.” Grey mocks me. “But isn’t that how it should be? You left her when she needed you the most, causing her accident and miscarriage.”
I close my eyes a
lay my head back against the wall behind me. “She has a new family now. Why would she need to remember an old, forgotten miscarriage?”
“What are you being so stubborn about?” Grey says, “Admit it. You still love her! You want a family with her. You’re grieving for those two lost children-”

I will remain focused. I will honor all of my commitments.

“Excuse me, Alpha King, sir?” A gentle voice Interrupts my vows.
I open my eyes and see a beautiful she wolf standing before me. She flips her long blonde hair over her shoulder and bats her eyelashes at me.
“I’m sorry to bother you, sir, but I just hoped to have a moment of your time,” she says, stepping closer to me.
“What is it?” Lask her. My tone is a bit harsher than I intend, but she doesn’t seem
deterred.
She sits down in the chair on my left, placing her arm next to mine.
“I was just wondering, Alpha, sir… It’s got to be awfully lonely for you, leading the pack without anyone to warm your bed…” she brushes her hand along my forearm, softly caressing me.
It’s become tedious, these she wolves that are obviously vying to become the
pack’s Luna. It’s been almost nonstop for the last six years.
These women are all the same. Always wanting to seduce me, seeking proximity to power.
They never care about getting to know me they look at me and see only my status,
Their attempts are so painfully obvious that I can tell almost immediately when a she wolf tries to weasel her way into my bed.
“I’m not interested,” I tell her firmly. “Please go.
“Go? But–but I only wanted to talk” she starts, trying a new strategy.
I look her in her eyes directly now. “I said I am NOT interested!” My tone is harsher now, I’m in no mood for this.
“Hmph!” she grunts indignantly. “Well, fine then! Suit yourself!”
She stands from her chair and looks at me for another moment before adding, “You’re probably still too hung up on that other woman That old Beta that’s become such an arrogant and cold noblewoman!”
She walks away, satisfied that she’s gotten the last word
Other woman? Arrogant noblewoman?
Was that she–wolf talking about Cara… Why would everyone think a hung up on Car

IN A NOBLE VILLA
I enjoy a noble’s morning–elegantly having breakdest, doing my makeup. As the daughter of the Bedford family, I deserved all of this
We are the nobility among nobility–aside from the Apha family no one in Darood is more noble than us…
But my foolish maid, in her haste, interrupts in a
Miss Melinda, Cara Wilson helped the pack house. She interupted our plan my mant
says.
I put down the mirror in my hand and clenched the eyeliner pencil tightly. The pencil couldn’t handle the force of my anger and snapped in my hand.

I told the council to cut their funding! They actually agreed! We even voted on in!
Granted, I had to wait for a day that the Alpha King wasn’t in attendance for the pack meeting, but I had finally succeeded!
How could this happen?!
That terrible, worthless woman, Cara! She sabotaged my plans, plans that I’ve spent years developing!
“I KNEW Lilia was telling the truth! She’s a villain, that Cara, just as Lilia described. If only more pack members would have listened to her all those years ago,” I yell to my maid.
But no, everyone was so quick to question Lilia. So eager were they to cast my dear Lilia out of the pack, to abandon her as a rogue.
“I will avenge Lilia. I will make them all pay for how they stood behind that good–for- nothing Cara!” I’m seething now, so excited by this idea to finally take Cara Wilson down, once and for all!
Y–Ye, Ye, Yes…” The maid couldn’t even finish her sentence through her sobs.

I calm myself down As the eldest daughter of the noble Bedford family, I couldn’t afford to lose my composure over these towboms.
Task, “When about that old nurse who was spreading rumors about her at the hospital? How las su been doing lately?”

My brother stands up and walks toward us. As He gets closer, the maid couldn’t help but blush at his handsome appearance,
So pathetic!
I give her a disdainful glance before taking my brother’s hand that he extends to me.
My brother smiles broadly at me. “I will help you, my dear little sister.”
“…Don’t worry, together we shall rid the world of this villain Cara!”
