Once the crew gave the signal, filming started right away. Through the camera lens, Olivia transformed into Penelope, and it felt as though everyone else in the studio had vanished. She sat casually on a stool, peeling corn. The stillness of the scene radiated a sense of simplicity and authenticity.
A moment later, Penelope took a ticket from her pocket, it was a ticket to the city. After living in the .mountains for twenty years, she was finally leaving that afternoon to explore the bustling metropolis.
Daniel barely had time to focus on Olivia’s acting. His attention was glued to Jos, waiting for the moment his temper exploded. But he waited and waited, and Joss expression didn’t darken. Instead, the irritation on his face seemed to ease little by little.
What’s happening? Daniel was completely confused. He turned to look at Olivia.
By this point, they had moved on to the second scene. Penelope, played by Olivia, had arrived in the city by bus. The set consisted of nothing but a large green screen, with the urban landscape to be added later in post–production.
Yet, standing before the green screen, Olivia perfectly captured the essence of someone stepping into an entirely new world. Her clear eyes revealed a complex mix of surprise, curiosity, unease, and nervous excitement. It felt like she was genuinely seeing the bustling metropolis for the first time.
“Cut! That’s good,” Jos suddenly announced.
The emotions in Olivia’s eyes faded instantly as she calmly turned her attention to him.
A rare smile spread across Jos’s typically grim face.
“That’s a wrap.” His approval visibly relieved everyone on set.
“Well done,” he continued, offering a rare compliment. Jos had initially doubted Olivia’s ability to handle the scene, but now it was clear he had underestimated her. She performed every moment with seamless fluidity, making it impossible to distinguish Olivia from Penelope.
“To pull off such a vivid performance with just a green screen, what were you doing in your previous roles?” Jos asked, clearly intrigued. Olivia’s disastrous acting in Sweetheart Forevermore was worlds’apart from the flawless delivery she gave today. Even Jos, known for his harsh critiques, couldn’t find a single flaw. Could this really be the same person?
The astonishment wasn’t limited to Jos. The entire crew was just as bewildered. Some of them had worked on Sweetheart Forevermore and knew how terrible Olivia’s acting had been back then. Yet today, she stunned everyone, not just with her striking bare–faced beauty, but also with a performance that felt almost miraculous.
