Pointing at the screen showing Olivia, Jos continued, “This girl has natural talent. I can’t figure out what her manager was doing before, dressing her up so tackily. If she can maintain this level of acting, there’s no reason she won’t make it big. Amelia, I suppose you saw her potential. That’s why you recommended her, right?”
Amelia suppressed the rage building inside her and maintained a gentle smile. “Yes, I’ve always thought… she had a lot of potential.” I need to find Daniel and get to the bottom of this. Why did Olivia show up bare–faced today? And how did her acting suddenly improve so much?
Jos resumed filming Willow’s scenes, but the results were disastrous. After two catastrophic takes, Jos was livid. “Use your brain for once! We’re done filming your scenes for today. If you can’t figure it out, stop wasting everyone’s time!”
Willow was in tears, her makeup streaked and ruined.
Rubbing his temples in frustration, Jos turned to his assistant. “Go check if Olivia is ready. We’ll shoot her bar scene with Chris next.”
The assistant hesitated. “But Chris just arrived. He’s still getting his makeup done. It might take a while.”
Chris, a newcomer backed by the investors, was playing the second male lead. It was a wealthy benefactor of Olivia’s character, Penelope. Handsome and popular, his presence in the cast was largely thanks to his connections.
“Tell him to hurry up!” Jos snapped impatiently.
Amelia stood by with mixed emotions, her mind spinning with too many unanswered questions. But with so many eyes on her, she could only maintain her composed smile.
Soon, Chris emerged from the makeup room, dressed in a casual suit that accentuated his youthful charm. With his confident stride and dashing looks, he immediately commanded attention. The assistant quickly ran off to call Olivia to set.
Spotting Jos, Chris greeted him with a casual smile. Given his backing by the investors, his status on set was unshakable.
“Ms. Amelia, you’re here too?” Chris’s gaze fell on Amelia, and he walked over with a grin.
At twenty–two, Chris was at the cusp of youth and maturity, his face exuding both youthful energy and a

Amelia, aware of the powerful backing behind Chris, greeted him with a polite smile. “Yes, I’m here to reshoot a few scenes.”

Chris sighed. “That’s generous of you, but sometimes good intentions can cause problems. Bringing someone like her into a role with so many scenes opposite me is… frustrating.”
Chris hadn’t met Olivia yet, as he arrived after Amelia.
“I looked up some of her previous work,” Chris continued, shaking his head. “It was honestly unbearable. But since you recommended her, I’ll try my best to guide her through the scenes.”
Daisy, standing to the side, rolled her eyes slightly at Chris’s pompous attitude and whispered to Amelia, “His acting isn’t great either. If it weren’t for the investors pushing him, there’s no way he’d land the second male lead. But considering the power behind him, we have to keep things amicable. The entertainment industry was full of people like Chris, they were handsome but lacking substance.
Amelia gave a slight nod and replied to Chris with a polite smile. “I’ll leave it to you, then.”
As the two exchanged pleasantries, Olivia walked out onto the set.
Chris, still brooding over having to work with an assumed “amateur,” turned his head nonchalantly to finally get a look at Olivia. The moment his eyes landed on her, however, he froze in place.
