As Olivia and Harry sat by the fire, savoring steaming pot, Shawn and Louis found themselves choking on their dry, tasteless biscuits. Even the visual jockey gets to eat for free? “What’s going on here?” Joycelyn asked, following the delicious aroma after finishing her setup.
“Steam pot?” Joycelyn’s eyes widened when she saw the bubbling pot. Hungry and worn out, she had been stuck with compressed biscuits that were no better than chewing dirt.
“My dear Ms. Joycelyn, care for some fresh, steaming pot?” Olivia greeted her warmly, her sales instincts kicking in.
Joycelyn paused, momentarily surprised by Olivia’s politeness.
“Sure,” Joycelyn replied, moving closer. She shot a confused look at Shawn and Louis, who were miserably nibbling on their biscuits. Why aren’t they eating steam pot? Isn’t it better than this awful food?
Before Joycelyn could say anything else, Olivia gestured to the price list hanging nearby. “What would you like Ms. Joycelyn? Everything here is clearly priced and fairly traded. No tricks, guaranteed!”
Joycelyn’s eyes darted to the list and froze. “F–Five gold bars? You can’t be serious!”
Olivia smiled innocently. “Why wouldn’t I be? My shop values honesty and transparency.”
Joycelyn’s expression stiffened. Five gold bars? I don’t even have enough to afford one steam pot meal!
Finally, she understood why Shawn and Louis had chosen biscuits over steam pot.
“I… I’m trying to lose weight. I’ll pass,” Joycelyn muttered, holding back tears as she lamented her empty pockets.
Olivia didn’t push further, enjoying her meal with Harry instead.
Hudson arrived a short while later, noticing the trio staring at Olivia’s campsite with longing expressions.
“Mr. Hudson, care for some steam pot?” Olivia asked brightly, her sales pitch unwavering.
Hudson’s gaze swept over the campsite and landed on the price list. He smiled.
“Why not?” he said, handing over five gold bars without hesitation.
Olivia quickly pocketed the gold bars and handed Hudson two sets of bowls and chopsticks. “Here you go! My shop’s policy, paying customers get a free meal for their visual jockeys, too!”
Hudson’s visual jockey was stunned by the unexpected bonus and happily joined in. Soon, the four of them were enjoying the steam pot around the fire.
While Olivia and Hudson ate contentedly, their visual jockeys couldn’t help but notice the burning jealousy in the eyes of the other visual jockeys.
