After Felix finished his outburst, his gaze landed on Olivia seated in the room. “What are you doing here?”
Olivia responded calmly, “Where else should I be?”
Felix froze, finally realizing that Olivia had heard everything he said earlier. His intimidating demeanor vanished as his face flushed bright red.
“You… uh… well… this…” Felix stammered, clearly at a loss.
Brogan sighed inwardly, rubbing his temples. All his carefully crafted plans were now completely ruined thanks to Felix spilling the beans in front of Olivia. Maybe it was time to send Felix back to the base.
Felix looked at Brogan, then at Olivia, his face twisting in awkwardness. “You didn’t hear that, did you?” he asked, attempting some futile damage control.
Olivia gave him a nonchalant glance. “Every word.”
Felix thought, This is so embarrassing I could just drop dead.
Brogan watched the mess unfold, his headache growing worse. Everything was off script now.
“Felix, what did you just say? I didn’t catch that,” Brogan said, casually dumping the issue back on Felix. Since Felix had already brought it up, he might as well take responsibility for convincing Olivia.
Felix’s face turned even redder, and he struggled with the humiliation. Usually strict and commanding with students, he now looked like a cornered animal in Brogan’s presence. To make it worse, Olivia had seen his flustered side. If word got out, how could he ever maintain his authority?
Felix glanced at Brogan, who ignored him, and then at Olivia, who smiled lightly.
Felix wanted to crawl into a hole.
The silence in the room grew heavier.
Finally, Felix blurted out, “Sir, I believe Olivia has outstanding physical abilities and impressive combat skills. She would be an ideal candidate for Borealia Military Academy!” Forget pride, I’ll do whatever it takes to
recruit her!
Brogan turned his attention to Olivia, waiting for her response.
Olivia said, “Borcalia Military Academy usually recruits 17 or 18–year–old students. I’m already over 20.”
“That doesn’t matter! With your talent, exceptions can be made. Besides, while you might be slightly behind in military training due to lack of experience, you outperform even our senior students in every other field Felix argued earnestly.
If you’re concerned about catching up, don’t worry. I can give you personal coaching! I promise that within six months, you’ll be at par with the rest,” Felix added, completely forgetting his previous humiliation at Olivia’s hands.
