“I only learned a little from a neighbor,” Olivia explained.
Growing up in a secluded village without hospitals or doctors, the villagers would seek medical help from a barefoot doctor living next to Olivia’s grandmother. This doctor, despite lacking formal education, attracted a stream of allluent patients bearing gifts and seeking his expertise.
As a child often injured while playing, Olivia was frequently treated by this doctor and picked up some skills during her downtime.
Daxton was taken aback by Olivia’s background and mentioned his desire for her to help treat his ailments. Before Olivia could respond, Byron burst into the hall, his arrival immediately darkening Daxton’s expression.
“What are you doing here?” Daxton asked sternly, eyeing Byron who hadn’t returned home for days since their last argument over Benjamin’s involvement in “Legacy of the Dynasty.”
Byron’s face fell at Daxton’s rebuke but quickly regained composure, his gaze turning to Olivia dining with Daxton.
His brow furrowed deeply.
“Dad, you’re indulging Benjamin too much! It’s bad enough letting him dabble in the entertainment industry, but now you even let him bring this dubious woman into the Moore family home? Aren’t you worried about the paparazzi catching this and tarnishing our family’s reputation?”
Byron had just heard his son brought a female artist home, which shocked him enough to rush back.
“She’s my classmate!” Benjamin retorted angrily, frustrated by Byron’s unwarranted tirade.
“Classmate?” Byron glanced at Olivia. Her stunning appearance momentarily stunned him, but his expression quickly turned to disdain.
“I’ve always said, studying performing arts? What good can come from those departments? Are they not just relying on their looks to get by? You see her as a classmate, she sees you as a cash cow… You know nothing!”
Byron’s insults grew harsher.
Daxton’s expression turned thunderous. “Shut your mouth! Ms. Carter is my guest. Do you have a right to speak?”
Byron was taken aback. “Dad, you can’t keep coddling Benjamin like this. How many women are trying to enter our family? I’m more experienced in these matters. I’m thinking of his best interests!”
Throughout the ordeal, Olivia calmly continued her meal.
After finishing her steak, she wiped her mouth and looked up at Byron, who was spewing malice.
“You’re quite experienced, aren’t you? Otherwise, you wouldn’t have brought home an illegitimate child nearly the same age as Benjamin.”
