“Wait! What do you mean by drugged? My father is perfectly fine, how could he be drugged? It’s a joke, right? My father has been to numerous hospitals, and a doctors attributed his condition to natural causes. And now you’re suggesting he’s been drugged? You’re adding too much drama,” Byron argued as Olivia watched him closely.
Seeing his sarcastic confidence, Olivia arched an eyebrow and asked pointedly, “You didn’t drug him?”
Byron’s natural demeanor suggested innocence, or perhaps an actor’s talent if he was pretending.
“What are you talking about? Why would I drug my own father?” Byron was flabbergasted, considering Olivia a lunatic and a fraud. Preparing to complain to Daxton, he then noticed Daxton’s probing gaze.
That look was unlike any other Byron had seen from his father–not the typical scolding or fury, but a cold, investigative stare as if viewing a criminal, not a son.
“Dad… you don’t suspect me, do you?” A dreadful premonition crept into Byron’s heart.
Daxton didn’t speak, but his eyes were filled with doubt Swallowing hard, Byron realized the gravity of Olivia’s words–they were likely true.

“Daxton’s health might have indeed been compromised by someone. Otherwise, why would he look at me like this?”
In an instant, a chilling realization swept over Byron.
“Dad! It wasn’t me! Even if you gave me a hundred chances, I would never drug you!” Byron panicked, fearing the implications if he couldn’t clear his name.
“Hey, I remember getting sick right after I refused to let you bring that woman home,” Daxton said, highlighting the suspicious timing.
Originally, Byron thought his heated argument had stressed Daxton into illness.
“After I fell ill, you took over Moore Group and brought your cherished illegitimate son home,” Daxton continued, his gaze steady on Byron.
Although Daxton had always disapproved of Byron’s philandering, the idea of Byron poisoning him was a horrible revelation.
Even Daxton, for all his grievances, found it hard to believe. But the evidence was becoming undeniable.
If not for Olivia’s discovery, he might have died without ever knowing the truth.
“Dad! Listen to me! It wasn’t me! How could I commit such a monstrous act?” Byron was in full panic mode.
I could accept accusations of neglect or favoritism towards my illegitimate son, but poisoning myfather? That is a burden too heavy to bear.
