When the lawyer returned with bad news for Liliana, she had just finished another round of treatment.
Days of medical attention had improved most of her injuries, but the festering sores on her face from the supposed chickenpox showed no signs of healing.
Standing at her bedside, the lawyer struggled to report the results while holding his breath against the overwhelming stench. He couldn’t even bear to glance at Liliana’s face, which now resembled flesh that had been soaked in acid.
“Useless! Useless! Absolutely useless! What’s the point of keeping a bunch of incompetent fools like you?” Liliana screamed in rage upon learning that not only was Olivia exonerated, but she was also planning to countersue for defamation and falsifying evidence. In her fury, she hurled everything within reach at the lawyer.
The lawyer could only stand there, trembling, until she finally bellowed, “Get out!”
He and her secretary scrambled to leave the room.
Gripping her bedsheet tightly, Liliana seethed with hatred. The torment she had endured these past few days was more than she had faced in her entire life combined.
Every morning, waking up to find her pillow stained with yellowish fluid and dried blood made her stomach churn. Starlit Entertainment’s surveillance footage had no record of Olivia, and the garage cameras had been smashed beyond repair.
To frame Olivia, she had spent over a few hundred thousand dollars hiring an overseas special effects team to fabricate the incriminating footage.
But she never imagined Olivia would so easily dismantle her carefully crafted plan.
The thought made her grind her teeth in fury. She grabbed her laptop and logged into Twitter.
The attack on Liliana and Amelia had already caused an uproar online. At least, Liliana was grateful that no photos of her injuries or her current disfigured appearance had leaked to the media.
As she schemed her next move against Olivia, a new email suddenly appeared in her inbox.
Curious, Liliana clicked on it. The next moment, a dozen photos filled her screen–images of her lying battered in the grimy parking garage.
Her eyes widened in shock. Olivia? Did Olivia take these?
Before she could process what she was seeing, her phone rang.
When she answered, Olivia’s playful, mocking voice came through.
“Well, you seem to have a lot of free time. Didn’t the last lesson teach you to behave?”
The taunting tone sent a chill down Liliana’s spine, but she quickly pressed the record button on her phone.

“It’s you? What did you do to my face? What did you do?” Liliana screamed, clutching her phone in terror.
Olivia’s voice remained calm and unhurried.
