Chapter 11
I slapped Hector’s hand, my voice trembling.
After the car started moving, Ruben quickly got into his own car and pursued us at high
peed.
I could see Ruben’s car getting closer and closer.
Suddenly, it seemed like his car lost control and crashed into a nearby fence. He had an
accident.
Hector and I were stunned.
After taking Ruben to the hospital, I was filled with anxiety.
I felt incredibly guilty, my eyes glued to the glowing “In Surgery” sign.
Hours passed, and the light finally went out.
The doctor said:
“The patient is no longer in critical condition.”
I let out a long sigh of relief.
“But the patient’s will to live is weak. Whether he wakes up or not depends entirely on his
own fate.”
I stood there, numb, feeling like my soul had been drained.
“I’ll kill you, you worthless woman!”
Molly ran over from a distance and slapped me.
“Aunt, calm down, calm down!” Hector stopped Molly.

“Enough!” A stern middle aged voice rang out.
It was Ruben’s father!
The surroundings suddenly fell silent.
I wanted to stay and take care of Ruben, but Molly looked like she was about to tear me apart right there.
From now on, stay out of my son’s sight!”
“Or I’ll beat you up every time I see you!”
So, I had no choice but to come secretly at night to take care of him.
Every day, I’d wipe his body down and talk about what had happened recently, as though nothing had ever occurred.
It felt like we had returned to the state we were in when we first started dating.
He quietly listened to me ramble on.
A month later, the doctor said there were signs that he might wake up.
He must hate me now.
So, before he woke up, I disappeared.
