Chapter 10
Fighting through the pain, I lunged at her, my body swiftly shifting, my bones. cracking and reshaping, muscles
elongating, fur erupting from my skin. My wolf form burst forth, larger and fiercer than ever before. Daisy wasn‘ t fast enough this time. My claws raked across her arm, and she screamed in pain, stumbling back, clutching the wound. The scent of her blood filled my nostrils, and for a moment, I reveled in it. This was justice. This was for my child.
But Daisy wasn’t done.
With a sharp cry of rage, she lunged forward, faster than I anticipated. I tried to dodge, but I felt the prick of something
sharp on my side–cold metal piercing through fur and skin.
A syringe.
I snarled, my vision blurring for a moment

as the liquid burned its way into my bloodstream. My body recoiled, my limbs trembling as I tried to keep my footing.
My wolf form flickered. One second, the shift slammed into me, my body convulsing, bones cracking as I flickered between forms. The pain was excruciating. I could barely see straight, barely think straight, as my body twisted against itself.
But I wouldn’t stop. I couldn‘ t..
“What… what did you do to me?” I growled through my teeth, my voice a low, guttural snarl even in my wolf form.
Daisy grinned, a look of triumph crossing her bloodied face. “Oh, just a little something I concocted,” she hissed, her voice dripping with venom. “Let’s see how you handle not knowing who or what -you are.”
I growled, trying to push through the haze that was clouding my mind. My body was caught in some horrible flux, the shift

between wolf and human happening involuntarily, violently, without my control.
The pain seared through my body, making it impossible to move. Daisy’s twisted. smile hovered above me, her eyes gleaming with satisfaction. I struggled to breathe, my vision growing dim.
“You‘ ve always been so stubborn, Callie, but you can’t win against me.” Daisy sneered, her fingers crackling with dark energy.
This was it. I was going to die.
Just as the world seemed to slow, a blur of movement appeared in the doorway. My breath caught in my throat as I realized who it was. Amir. His eyes glowed with a fierce intensity, his wolf fully unleashed. Without a second of hesitation, he shifted, his massive wolf form charging toward Daisy with lethal speed.
Amir’s powerful jaws clamped down on Daisy’s neck, the sickening sound of

tearing flesh filling the air. She let out a strangled cry, stumbling back as blood seeped from the wound. But even injured, she moved fast, her body twisting out of Amir s grip before he could finish her off.
I watched in horror, barely able to process what was happening. Daisy, clutching her neck, her face twisted in pain, stood her ground. But she was clearly weakened, her spell faltering. She raised her hand again, dark energy crackling at her fingertips, ready to strike.
Before she could unleash whatever curse she had left, the door burst open again, and a group of figures clad in dark cloaks stormed into the room. The Witch Hunters. My mind raced, trying to piece it all together. Amir had called them.
Daisy’s eyes widened in panic, her head whipping around to face the Witch
Hunters, but it was too late. They moved swiftly, their chains glowing with ancient runes as they bound her hands and feet.

She screamed in fury, thrashing wildly, but the more she fought, the tighter the magical binds grew, pulling her to her
knees.
Amir shifted back into his human form, his breathing heavy, his eyes still glowing with that same predatory intensity. His gaze flicked to me, and for a moment, the world felt still as I locked eyes with him, relief washing over me in waves.
But then, I noticed something out of the corner of my eye. Someone else was in the room. Slowly, I turned my head, my heart skipping a beat when I saw him.
Landon.
He was tied up, his wrists bound tightly behind his back, his face pale and stricken with disbelief as he stared at the scene unfolding before him. His mouth hung open slightly, eyes wide as if he couldn’t fully comprehend what he’d just witnessed. I could almost hear his thoughts racing, trying to piece together the chaos

that had just erupted.
I blinked, my mind reeling as the shock. began to wear off. “Landon,” I whispered, unable to hide my surprise. What was he doing here? How had he ended up bound and powerless?
Landon’s gaze snapped to mine, his expression torn between disbelief and something else–something deeper, rawer. “Callie…” His voice was hoarse, his lips trembling as if he were struggling to form the words. “I… I didn’t know.”
I frowned, my heart pounding in “What are you talking about?”
years.
He swallowed hard, his gaze flicking to Daisy, who was now fully restrained by the Witch Hunters, before looking back at me.. “I didn’t know she was controlling me, he said, his voice breaking. “All this time… everything I did to you, all the things I said… it wasn‘ t me.”
I stared at him, my chest tightening. I

could see the remorse in his eyes, the pain that twisted his features as he struggled to explain.
“Daisy,” he continued, his voice shaking,
“she used magic to control me. To make me push you away, to make me treat you the way I did. I didn’t realize it then, but I know now. She was poisoning my mind, twisting everything, making me believe things that weren‘ t true.‘
