Landon’s eyes filled with tears, his voice dropping to a whisper. “But I swear, Callie, I’ve always loved you. No matter what you turned into… no matter what you are, that doesn’t change how I feel. I see it clearly now. I’ve always loved you.”
His words hung in the air, heavy and raw, but as much as I tried to feel something, to reach for that connection we once had, I couldn‘ t.
I was numb.
I met his gaze, my voice steady and emotionless. “Landon, it doesn’t matter anymore.”
His hand faltered in the air, confusion flashing across his face. “What do you mean? I’m telling you the truth, Callie. It was all Daisy’s doing. She poisoned me

firmer now. “I believe you were poisoned. I believe Daisy is to blame for all of it. But none of that changes the fact that the moment our unborn child died… my love. for you died with it.”
The silence that followed was suffocating. Landon stared at me, the weight of my words sinking in. His hand slowly dropped to his side, and I saw the devastation in his eyes, the regret, the realization that not matter what he said, it wouldn’t bring back my feelings for him.
“You killed that part of me,” I continued, my voice cold. “When you turned your back on me when you abandoned me in my darkest moment. There’s nothing left for us, Landon.”
His breath hitched, his eyes brimming with unshed tears. “Callie… please. I can fix this. I can make it right-”
But I shook my head. “It’s too late.”
Amir s presence loomed behind me,

silent but strong, as if he understood without me needing to explain any further.
Without another glance, I turned my back on Landon, leaning on Amir as we left the
room.
The Witch Hunters dragged Daisy out of the room, her protests fading into the distance, leaving only silence behind.
I stood at the window, staring out at the city lights below, my thoughts tangled in the mess of emotions swirling inside me.
I closed my eyes, letting the silence of the night fill the room, but the heaviness in my chest remained. The miscarriage was a wound I hadn’t fully healed from, something I carried with me in silence, alone. I hadn’t told anyone except
Landon. Not even Amir.
The thought of telling Amir twisted my stomach in knots. What if he cared? What
if it changed everything between us?

I heard footsteps behind me, and I turned to see Amir entering the room. His presence was always so steady, so calming, but tonight, I felt a different kind of nervousness fluttering inside me.
“Callie,” he said softly, his gaze locking onto mine. “You‘ ve been quiet all night. What’s on your mind?”
I swallowed hard, feeling my throat tighten as the words hovered on the edge of my lips. This was it. I had to tell him.
“It‘ s… it’s about my past. Something I haven’t shared with you yet.”
Amir’s expression softened as he stepped closer, his eyes filled with concern. “You can tell me anything.”
I nodded, my heart pounding in my chest. as I gathered the courage to speak.
“Before you and I… before everything with Landon ended, I… I was pregnant.”
The words hung heavy in the air between us. Amir’s face remained calm, but his

eyes searched mine, waiting for me to continue.
“I lost the baby,” I said, the admission feeling like a weight lifting off my shoulders and sinking deep into my chest at the same time. “I had a miscarriage.
There. I said it. The truth was out.
For a moment, the silence stretched between us, my nerves fraying as I waited for his reaction. I braced myself for disappointment, for questions, for something that would shatter the fragile hope I’d begun to build with him.
But then Amir reached for my hand, his touch warm and reassuring. “Callie,” he said softly, his thumb gently brushing over my knuckles. “I’m sorry for what you went through. But that doesn’t change anything between us.”
I blinked, caught off guard by the certainty in his voice. “It doesn‘ t?”
“No,” he said firmly. “What happened in

the past is part of who you are, but it doesn‘ t define what we have now. As long as you re here, by my side, that’s all I need.”
I let out a shaky breath, the tightness in my chest easing just a little. I had been so afraid of what he might think, so afraid that this part of me would be too much, too complicated. But here he was, standing by me, as sure and unwavering as ever.
“Thank you,” I whispered, my voice thick with emotion. “I was worried you might mind.”
He cupped my face gently, his eyes locking onto mine with a kind of tenderness I hadn’t realized I needed. “Callie,
nothing about your past could ever make me love you less. You‘ ve been through so much, and I’m here for you–for all of you. That’s never going to change.”
I felt a tear slip down my cheek, and Amir wiped it away, his hand lingering for a moment before pulling me into his arms. I

melted into him, feeling the warmth of his embrace wrap around me like a shield from everything I had been carrying alone.
And in that moment, I knew–Amir was my future. Everything else, all the pain, all the loss–it was behind me now. With him, I could finally let go.
