Chapter 9
I shouldn’t have agreed to meet Daisy. I knew something was off the moment I picked up her call, but I was curious. Maybe it was foolish of me, but after everything that had happened, I wanted to know what she was up to. I needed
answers.
So, there I was, standing in the small café near the park, waiting for her. The place was almost empty, just a few customers. scattered around, sipping their coffee. I checked my phone, glancing at the time.
A strange feeling settled in my gut, but something held me in place. Maybe it was the curiosity, or maybe it was the need to confront her, to finally face the woman who had somehow wormed her way into my life and wrecked everything.
Finally, the door swung open, and Daisy walked in. She spotted me immediately, her eyes lighting up with a smile that

didn’t reach them. I had seen that smile too many times. It was fake. Everything about her was fake.
“Callie,” she greeted, sliding into the seat across from me. “I’m so glad you came.”
I nodded, keeping my expression neutral. “You said you wanted to talk.”
Her smile widened, and she gestured to the waitress. “Let’s order something first. I don’t know about you, but I could use a
drink.”
Reluctantly, I agreed. I watched as Daisy ordered for both of us, her voice unnervingly cheerful. I wasn‘ t in the mood for small talk, but I played along, waiting for her to get to the point. My instincts were on high alert. Something wasn’t right.
When the drinks came, I noticed the way Daisy watched me, like a predator eyeing its prey. She pushed the glass toward me, at strange look crossing her face.

“Drink up. It’s on me,” she said, her voice smooth, but there was something off about
- it.
I stared at the drink, the strange feeling in my gut intensifying. My wolf stirred inside me, sensing danger. But before I could react, Daisy’s hand shot out, grabbing my wrist and squeezing it tightly.
“Don’t make this harder than it has to be,” she hissed, her voice dropping the fake sweetness. “Just drink it.”
Everything clicked into place at that moment. The drink, her sudden invitation -she had planned this.
I tried to yank my hand away, but before I could, she flung something into my drink. A cloud of smoke rose from the liquid, and suddenly, the world around me started to spin. I blinked, my vision blurring as I tried to stay upright.
“Daisy, what… what did you?”
But I couldn’t finish the sentence. My

body felt heavy, my limbs refusing to cooperate. Panic surged through me as I tried to shift into my wolf form, but nothing happened. I couldn’t move.
“Shh, shh,” Daisy cooed, her voice sickly sweet again. “Just relax, Callie. This will all be over soon.”
The room swirled around me, and before I knew it, everything went black.
I woke up groggy, my head pounding. The world around me was dark, and it took me a moment to realize I wasn‘ t in the café anymore. My wrists and ankles were bound, tied to some sort of metal chair. I struggled to move, but the ropes dug into my skin, keeping me in place.
Panic welled up in my chest.
Where am I?
Suddenly, the lights flickered on, and Daisy stood in front of me, grinning like a

maniac.
“Finally, you‘ re awake.”
“What… what is this?” I demanded, my voice weak. “Why are you doing this?”
Daisy’s smile twisted into something. dark, her eyes flashing with hatred.
“Why am I doing this?” she repeated, her voice dripping with venom. “You took everything from me, Callie. Landon was supposed to be mine, and you ruined it!”
I stared at her, my heart racing. “Landon? This is all because of him?”
Daisy laughed, the sound hollow and bitter. “You really don’t get it, do you? I tried so hard to make him love me. I even changed my appearance for him. But he never looked at me the way he looked at you.”
Her hands trembled as she spoke, and for the first time, I saw just how unhinged she really was. This wasn‘ t about love. This was an obsession!

“You‘ re crazy,” I whispered, still trying to figure out how to escape.
She sneered at me, stepping closer. “You can call me whatever you want, but that doesn’t change the fact that Landon was supposed to be mine. And now that you‘ re out of the picture, he will be.”
I felt a surge of anger rise inside me. “You think this will make him love you? He‘ 11

Before I could finish, Daisy pulled a knife from her belt, and my heart stopped. The blade glinted in the dim light, coated with something dark and viscous. My blood ran cold as I smelled the wolfsbane.
“I know your secret, Callie,” she whispered, her smile widening. “You think I didn’t figure it out? You‘ re a wolf, aren’t you?”
I struggled against the ropes, adrenaline. pumping through my veins. I had to get out of here, but the wolfsbane… it would.

weaken me if I wasn‘ t careful.
Daisy stepped forward, raising the silver knife.
“Let’s see how strong you really are.”
In a last–ditch effort, I shifted into my wolf form, the ropes snapping as I lunged at her. But I wasn’t fast enough. Pain exploded in my side as the silver knife plunged into my flesh, the wolfsbane coursing through my veins like fire.
I collapsed to the ground, my body. convulsing as the poison took hold.
“You’ll die at my hands, Callie,” Daisy whispered, watching with sick satisfaction as I writhed in pain.
