Verity never made it to her delivery date. A few days before, she saw the
news about Talon’s arrest.
Nine months pregnant, she stormed up to the hospital rooftop, threatening
to jump.
“Isla! If you don’t drop the charges against my brother right now, I’ll jump! I’ll take my life and the baby’s! I’ll make sure everyone in Summersville knows you pushed your brother’s wife and child to their deaths!”
She stood dangerously close to the edge, and a crowd quickly gathered

“Verity, come down! You’re going to hurt yourself,” Dax pleaded, his voice
shaking with fear, his hands trembling uncontrollably.
“I’m not coming down until she drops the charges!” Verity screamed, her
voice trembling just as much.
While she yelled, the firefighters were busy setting up an air cushion below,
just in case.
“Please, Isla! Promise her!” Dax begged, tears streaming down his face.
l’eventually agreed to drop the charges.
The moment Dax rushed over to pull Verity down, her water broke, and she
was rushed to the delivery room.
Hours later, the sound of a newborn’s cry filled the maternity ward. Verity had given birth to a baby boy.
A week later, I visited the hospital to see the child, but when I arrived, I found Dax glaring at me, his face full of anger.
“Isla, are you even my sister anymore? How could you be so cruel? You knew Talon was Verity’s brother, and you still had him sent to prison. Do you
even have a conscience?”
“Talon may be her brother, but I’m your sister! Don’t you realize Verity drugged me and had Talon film me to humiliate me? They wanted to ruin my life. If I hadn’t caught on early, who knows how they’d have blackmailed me by now.”

Dax scoffed and said coldly, “This is just another one of your made–up
excuses to frame Verity. I don’t believe for one second that someone as
sweet and kind as her would ever do something so vicious. You’ve hated her
since the beginning, and now you’re trying to drive me out of the
Montgomery family, too.”
Verity, propped up in bed, pointed at me and snarled, “Get out of here, you b**ch! I don’t want to see your face ever again!”
I let out a dry laugh and pulled out my phone, playing the recording of
Verity and Talon discussing their plan to ruin me.
“Brother, Isla’s always home on Sundays. Tomorrow, you can have her. Do you want me to slip something into her drink?”
“No need. I can handle her just fine. It’s more fun watching her squirm
anyway.”
“Just make sure you get it on camera. Once we have that footage, she
won’t dare challenge us.”
Verity’s face went pale as she realized the truth was out, but she still tried
to lie her way out. “That’s not real! You must’ve doctored the video to frame
me!”
“Is that so?” I smiled, pulling out a piece of paper from my bag. “And this?
This paternity test says that the child isn’t Dax’s. You know exactly who the
father is.”
Dax grabbed the paper from my hand and stared at it in disbelief. The results clearly stated a 0.01% chance of him being the father.

Verity burst into tears, screaming, “Dax, you have to believe me! This is all
Isla’s doing! She faked the test! She’s trying to tear us apart…”
Before she could finish, Dax slapped her across the face, leaving a bright red handprint.
His voice shaking with fury, he yelled, “I gave you everything! Why would
you do this to me? How long were you planning to keep lying?”
His hands wrapped around her throat, squeezing tightly.
Verity gasped for air, her hands flailing wildly in desperation.
I had no interest in watching the rest of the drama unfold. I walked out of
the hospital room.
In the end, Talon was sentenced to five years in prison. As for Verity, I spared her–for now–because there was no one else to care for the child.
Later, I discovered that Verity had been adopted by the Sinclairs, and that the baby was Talon’s, not Dax’s.
I heard she ended up working at a nightclub, where she latched onto a wealthy businessman.
But Verity never changed. She harassed the man’s wife, trying to take her place, and when she got pregnant again, she demanded marriage. The wife didn’t take kindly to that and arranged for Verity to be hospitalized for a miscarriage, leaving her crippled. She lost not only the baby but also the use of one of her legs.
one of her legs.
As for Dax, he was devastated by the whole ordeal with Verity. The
ychological trauma left him with severe mental health issues. He becam atic, suffering from intense paranoia. He started grabbing random peo
the throat, yelling, “Why did you lie to me? Why did you betray me?”
the end, I had no choice but to have him admitted to a psychiatric pital for treatment. Even my parents, who had always been supportive
were deeply disappointed by how things had turned out.
vo years later, I took over the Montgomery Corporation, and within fiv
rs, I became the youngest self–made billionaire in Summersville.
