Chapter 136
Chapter 136
Celeste POV
I dressed to impress. I knew my half–sister and I knew she wouldn’t dress up, giving me the advantage when it came time to not only introduce myself to this Alpha Liam of the Black Lightning Pack but also seduce him. I had plans tonight, Plans that involved ensuring that I got the Luna position and put this Alpha Liam in a position where he could not refuse to take me as his mate. It wasn’t as though he was going to be interested in Fiona anyway, but I also had plans in regard to that. I smoothed down my dress, liking the feel of the expensive fabric, the bright vivid redness only enhancing the darkness of my hair and the tanned goodness of my skin. I looked exotic, seductive, and fully adult. I wasn’t playing games tonight. I was determined to get what I wanted.
“You look beautiful tonight Celeste” Sarah, a friend of mine commented as we stood in a circle, her smile wide as she looked me up and down. “I love the dress you are wearing. It really suits you” she added.
I smirked. “Thank you. I gather that it’s easily visible and I wanted something to draw the eye, you know, unlike a certain somebody” I added, glancing intentionally towards Fiona who as usual, looked drab in her dress which although fit well, didn’t exactly make her stand out from the crowd. Not to mention those horrendous shoes! What did she have against heels for goodness‘ sake?
Sarah’s eyes widened as she turned to look at Fiona and then she shook her head and sighed, a pitying expression on her face. “Such a shame. You would think she would make a bigger effort considering it’s her eighteenth that we are celebrating” she said crinkling her nose and looking disgusted.
“Since when does Fiona care about her looks” Trixie interjected, rolling her eyes. “God she’s so pathetic. I heard she wants to transfer to that other pack. Can you imagine? At least we won’t have to see her anymore” she said with glee.
I frowned. “I don’t think that’s going to happen now,” I said as everybody paused to look at me, the group surrounding me falling silent. “Didn’t you hear what happened?” I said whispering, everybody moving closer so that they could hear me.
“No, what?” Trixie’s voice was eager.
I tried hard not to smile as I feigned sympathy. “Well, the thing is, we all gathered around for Fiona’s shifting but…” I paused, looking around at the group as they looked at me with anticipation “but the poor thing” I choked.
“What, what happened?” Sarah asked, practically bouncing up and down.
“She has no wolf” I cried out dramatically, causing everybody to turn and stare at Fiona in disbelief, Fiona oblivious as she grabbed a drink from the refreshment table. “No wolf whatsoever” I shuddered.
“No” gasped Melynda “how can that be? She has Alpha DNA” she added, as I shrugged.
“I don’t know but what pack is going to accept her when she can’t do anything useful?” I said lightly.
“True” murmured Trixie with a sigh “I guess she won’t be leaving this pack after all. Her father is likely to want to protect her,” she said with a roll of her eyes.
“But I need your help,” I told them honestly as the girls all nodded at me “you see” I hesitated.
“Whatever it is, we’ll do anything we can” Sarah promised “we’re your friends after all. Name it” she said keenly.
“The Alpha of the Black Lightning Pack is coming tonight” I informed them loftily “and I want to introduce myself to him. I don’t intend on wanting to be the Alpha of this pack. I want to be Luna of his” I smirked “and finally get out from underneath my parent’s interference. I can merge my pack with his and get a husband in the process” I continued.
“So what do you want us to do? I thought he was coming to meet your sister” Trixie was confused.
“He was,” I said with a snap “but he’s not going to be interested in her now. Alpha Liam is rumored to be one of the most handsome Alpha’s there is. Do you think the likes of Fiona deserve somebody like him?” I asked with a glower.

The hell my sister did. I wasn’t going to let her have him. I stared at the group. Luckily they all saw it the same way I did.
“No” Sarah was solemn “Fiona definitely doesn’t deserve to be near the likes of him. Are you trying to get him to take you as a chosen mate?”
“Unless by some miracle I’m his fated mate, yes” I answered sweetly “and I know just how I’m going to do it too. That’s where you all come in” I said, glancing between them all.
“Okay” Sarah shifted uncomfortably on her feet “but what about Fiona? What if she interferes?” she asks.
I sighed. “I have an idea in regards to that. I just need her to be as far away from the Alpha as possible. If she’s not here, then Alpha Liam won’t even set eyes on her.”
“How do we do that?”
“Sarah” I leaned in close and began to whisper in her ear, watching as her eyes bulged slightly with the request. “Do you think you can manage it?”
“Sure, but how do you know he’ll go for it?” she said frowning slightly. “You seem certain he’ll agree.”
“He owes me a favor and” I shrug “he actually has a thing for her. She’s just been blind to it. What better time to let her know than tonight” I said as Sarah nodded. “In fact, it will make it a night for her to remember” I added with a devilish grin.
“What about him? Alpha Liam?” Trixie asked, casting Sarah a curious expression.
None of the other girls had heard what I had said to Sarah and I intended to keep it that way. I grinned at them.
“I have that all in hand. Look at the way I’m dressed” I purred, deliberately running my hand down my dress and smoothing out some more wrinkles. “It’s not just for show. I intend to lure Alpha Liam into the pack house and well” I paused “let’s just say that I’m going to create one hell of a scene in which he can’t possibly refuse to make me his mate. He’ll have no choice” I beamed.
“I don’t know, a lot of things could easily go wrong” Melynda pointed out wryly.
“It won’t,” I said confidently. “I know what I’m doing, All we have to do is wait for this supposed Alpha to turn up and then I can put my plans into action.”
“How do we know when he gets here?” Trixie’s voice is a hushed whisper “it’s not as though any of us have laid eyes on the man before.”
“It won’t be hard,” I said dismissively. “He’ll have an alpha aura and there’s no other Alphas from other packs invited tonight, considering that Fiona’s such a homebody” I snorted“it’s almost too easy.”
Like taking candy from a baby. I shot a glance at Fiona and saw that she was standing by the campfire, a soda in her hand of all things. I wanted to laugh. Eighteen and she had no interest in drinking. What a killjoy. I shook my head.
“Let’s get this party started,” I told my friends, deliberately raising my voice so that Fiona could hear me over the sound of the bonfire “before we all die of boredom.”
My friends cheered out loud and together we all began to head towards the refreshment table. I picked up a glass of champagne, holding it in one hand and then delicately tipping it so that I could sip from it. I closed my eyes, feeling blissful. Technically I wasn’t eighteen yet, so I wasn’t of legal age, but nobody dared to challenge me and my parents had never seen fit to prevent me from doing it. I finished the glass and put it down on the table, grabbing another one and winking at my friends.
“To tonight” I declared, clinking my glass with theirs and holding it up in triumph. “To having all our dreams come true and vanquishing our enemies.”
“To Celeste” my friends chorused “and tonights success.”

We winked at each other and then turned, just in time to see the most sexy and suave looking man begin to head towards the grounds. Instantly, I knew who it was and my eyes narrowed as I looked between everyone, giving a subtle nod.
“It’s time” I breathed “let’s put our plans into action”
