Liam POV
Once again my mate has surprised me. As my eyes darken, my cock reacting instantly to such a question she hastily tries to explain herself, recognizing where my thoughts have automatically gone. I’m a little disappointed when she begins to speak but am careful not to show it..
“I mean, sleep in the bed with me. Not the other,” she blushes and amends, “other thing”
She coughs as I try not to give a grin at her innocent explanation. Something so simple as sleeping in the same bed as her would be heaven. My wolf wants much more and so do I, but the thought of lying in the same bed as her and being able to wrap my arms around her and hold her is so appealing right now that I’m struggling to hold back my urge to grab her and ravish her. She’s so desirable and yet she seems unaffected by her beauty as though she believes she is merely pretty. She’s so much more. I wish she could see it. I wish she knew just how stunning I found her. To me, she’s like a goddess that transcends the heavens. I’m not normally poetic, but she could bring that forth inside of me.
How can I deny my mate or refuse her request? My wolf silently agrees with me, also wanting to spend quality time with my mate. I give a barely imperceptible nod and see her eyes fill with relief. She exhales, slowly spreading out her hands. I glance at her and then towards the bed. She follows my line of sight before the realization dawns and she gives a small shriek. I grin to myself. She rushes to the bed and climbs in, making me give a wry chuckle. I guess she was not about to get undressed in front of me after all. What a shame.
“You don’t have to be so eager” I teased and was rewarded with the sound of her melodic laughter as she giggled at me.
It was like music to my ears. I adored hearing her happy and I wanted to do whatever I could to make sure she remained smiling and laughing.
I move closer and climb in beside her on the bed. Instantly I feel as though my body has heated up all over and I swear she has the same reaction. I can feel her body trembling as I wrap my arms around her, gently pushing her down so that her head lay back on the pillow and spooning beside her. She takes a deep exhale, her body tensing for a brief moment before it begins to relax. I slide my legs over hers, trapping her. She doesn’t protest, in fact slides her legs further trapping herself. She looks surprised. I however am practically purring at the feel of my mate pinned beneath me, tingles running throughout my entire body.
“You’re so warm,” she whispers, her eyes widening ever so slightly as she comments.
It’s body heat but she could be so much warmer, I thought to myself.
I’m still wearing clothing. I don’t want to frighten her by getting fully naked. However, she is looking at my chest longingly as she looks over her shoulder. I move, sitting up as she gives a small whine of disappointment, pulling my shirt off and then moving back to my original position. She wiggles against me and I grit my teeth, feeling my lower genital area begin to respond. I try to relax my own body but it’s difficult when I have such a gorgeous mate beside me, her limbs meshing with my own. I don’t want to make her feel uncomfortable, so I do my best not to let my thoughts wander too far in the wrong direction. She needs to be able to trust me and I’m going to make sure that she does. Whatever she feels, I want her to know that she can always come to me.
“Liam,” she murmurs drowsily, and I smile, tucking her in closer to my body and feeling the body heat warm even further between us.
“I’m here,” I tell my mate, “Right here and I’m not going anywhere,” I added in a low growl..
She sighs and then pulls my arm over her waist, tucking herself in tighter against me.
“What is it?” I ask her, gently stroking her ribs with my fingers as she settles against me.
“Is Delia going to be allowed to stay in the pack house?” she asked, without looking over her shoulder at me.
Was she worried about the answer? It was difficult to be an Alpha sometimes, not only responsible for the safety and

wellbeing of my luna but also for pack members as well. I know what she’s really asking and I hate that I can’t give it to her. It’s my duty to unbiased but when it came to my mate, I wanted to grant her whatever request she made of me.

I stiffen. I know that Fiona is still reeling from the personal attack of Delia’s and I don’t doubt that she’s still angry with me. I sigh.
“Technically she’s still a valued pack member so I can’t just force her out of the pack house. She’s lived here for years and if I just throw her out, everybody is going to think it’s because of your presence. I can do it, but…” I trailed off, wondering if she was about to get angry with me again.
“I guess that’s fair, But how do I know she’s not going to try anything again?” she mused out loud.
I would never let anybody harm her. She was safe with me.
“Are you worried or jealous?” My tone is nonchalant as I try to gain clarification.
She shivers next to me and half turns to peer into my eyes. “If I admit that part of it is jealousy, then will you think less of me?” she asks.
My heart skips a beat. My mate is jealous of another woman? It’s unfathomable to me because I can’t even think about considering another woman. Not when I have my fated mate right here now. I struggle to hide my innermost feelings and decide to answer truthfully. She’s vulnerable right now, in a new pack with new members and a home that she’s never lived in before. Add to that the trauma she had experienced at Graham’s hands and the broken family she had, and it was no wonder she was feeling the way she did.
“No, because I like the fact you are jealous. I want you to desire me, my mate” I growl as she widens her eyes. “But you should know that there is no other woman in this pack that can draw my eyes to them the way you can.”
It was no less than the truth. No other woman stood out next to my mate who was far more beautiful than any other woman in this pack.
“I want you,” she admits shyly, causing me to pause, my heart beginning to race loudly in my chest, “but I’m afraid Liam.”
“Afraid of what sweetheart? Tell me,” I urged.
I would vanquish demons for her if it came down to that.
“I’m afraid that it will hurt. I’m afraid that you’ll sleep with me and then choose to reject me. I’m afraid of a lot of things but I can’t help it. All my life I’ve been compared to somebody else and found wanting and now I worry that you’ll do the same or realize that you can do better,” she confessed.
She thought that she was worthless to me or that I would simply take another mate because I thought they were better than
her.
My heart ached. Her voice was barely above a whisper now and she was avoiding my gaze. I grab her chin, forcing her to look at me.
“I will never abandon you for another. I am not your family,” I told her solemnly as she inhaled sharply, on the verge of tears “and I am a man of my word. You are my fated mate, my other half. Rejection is not a word in my vocabulary.”
My voice is loud and emphatic. There is no hesitation in my tone.
She lets out a small sob and I kiss her lovingly on the lips, feeling the sweet nectar of her mouth, her body slowly slumping back down onto the pillow. My arm snakes around her waist and this time, when I pull away, she blinks at me and then willingly turns her back, nestling her head into the crook of my arm and falling asleep as I stare at her, unable to turn my eyes away. It’s a long time until I go to sleep and while it’s torturous being this close to her, it’s also heaven in it’s own little
way.
