She was careful to maintain her sweet nature in front of her parents. Now that Fiona was gone, Celeure had no issues in making sure that she was going to be declared the Alpha of the pack and the leader. It wasn’t as though Fiona was strong enough anyway, not without her wolf. At least Celerie’s wolf was going to baru through any moment now. It was only a day away from her birthday and she was so excited she couldn’t wait. There was no way she wouldn’t get her wolf like that loner.
“As you know it’s your birthday tomorrow and you’re going to be getting your own wolf. We’re excited to see what color your wolf will turn out to be. Some of us are laying bets that you’ll be a black wolf Regan looked pointedly at her own husbands who gave a sheepish smile, “while part of me is hoping that you will take after me and have a strong white wolf. It doesn’t matter though”
Celeste smirked. She also didn’t care about the size nor the colour of her wolf so long as she got one. That was the only requirement necessary to become the Alpha of the pack. She sighed, wishing she had a mate, but then reminded herself that if that were the case she would be forced to take a backseat as Luna.
“I would like a white wolf, Celeste sucked up to Regan, her mother but a black wolf would be just as nice, she added quickly seeing the disappointment on her father’s faces.
They smiled. “Well, we were thinking that we might make your birthday a double event. Why not declare that you are to take
Alpha on the night of your party?” Regan suggested smoothly as Celeste’s eyes began to light up.
“Really?” she asked excitedly, “I didn’t think you would be ready to make the announcement so soon.”
Regan was delighted to hear how happy her daughter sounded. “I sent an invitation to Fiona and Alpha Liam to attend but so far they haven’t RSVP’d back. I can’t say for certain that she will attend given the ahem,” she coughed, looking slightly despondent now, “given the circumstances and how angry she was when she left. I’ve attempted to reach out to her, but Fiona doesn’t want to speak to any of us right now.”
Her father Xander let out a slow exhale, a forlorn expression on his face. There were tears shimmering in his eyes. His twin brother patted him on the shoulder, attempting to console him as Xander looked away and put his hands in his shoulders. Since Fiona’s leaving, her father Xander had been rather quiet, thoughtful and always observing Celeste closely. She didn’t understand why. It’s not as though he could know what she had tried to have done to Fiona, could he? She hoped he was merely upset over Fiona and not beginning to put the puzzles together…..
“That’s okay mother, father’s, Celeste said very sadly “I understand if my sister has no desire to see me on my birthday. So long as she’s happy then I’m happy.”
She was very convincing, but Celeste had been acting for as long as she could remember. In fact, the only one who had ever seen her true nature underneath had been Fiona and she was well and truly gone now.
“Still, it would have been nice to celebrate as a family,” Regan sighed, feeling upset about her non–relationship with 1. daughter.
Perhaps she had been too consumed with her biological daughter to have noticed how badly she had treated Fiona until it was too late. Regan knew that no amount of apologies was going to make up for what she had done.

“Maybe she’ll have a change of heart,” Celeste suggested hopefully, “you never know, now that she’s had time to think, she might come around.”
Regan shook her head, as did the fathers. Her father Xander coughed, his voice hoarse. “I have considered the possibility of going to the Black Lightning Pack and seeing Fiona for myself, Maybe she would be more willing to speak to me if we were to do it face to face.”
“When?” asked Xavier sharply, turning to his brother and reminding him archly, “Celeste’s birthday is tomorrow and it’s really important that she get the attention she deserves. It’s not everyday you turn such a monumental number” he added with a meaningful glance at Celeste as she lapped up all the attention she was receiving.
“I know that,” her other father Xander growled, looking frustrated, “I’m not about to ruin Celeste’s birthday but perhaps, a week or so from now would suffice. I miss Fiona,” he admitted lowly.
“We all do,” Regan spoke heavily. “I guess I never really realized just how big a help she was in this pack or even how much care she showed each of us until she decided to leave.”
“We all treated her poorly,” even her father Xavier was forced to admit.
“You’re blaming yourselves too much,” Celeste exclaimed, privately annoyed at how much they were talking about Fiona.
All the attention was meant to be on her, not that other little slut. She tried to bring their attention back to her and the party. She blinked big eyes at her mother. “Mother, I need a new dress for the party. I can’t simply attend in any old thing,” she wailed dramatically.
It worked. It always had. All Celeste had to do was blink her big eyes at her parents and they always gave her what she wanted. Regan immediately began to dig out her credit card from her purse, handing it over. “Get what you need. You should look pretty for your birthday and the announcement. I don’t care how much it costs, just make sure you are happy with it.”
Her tone was sincere. It occurred to Regan, just then, as she spoke, that she had never been so generous with Fiona and she glanced away, feeling guilty.
“Thank you mother, father’s,” Celeste squealed excitedly, jumping forward to hug her mother. “You’re the best parents in the whole wide world,” she added.
“You’re going to look like a little princess.”
Her father Xavier spoke, sounding slightly teary though he tried to hide it. “My little girl is growing up. I can’t believe how quickly time has passed by. It seems like only yesterday we discovered we were mates with your mother.”
Regan blushed. She put a hand to Xavier’s chest, gazing up into his eyes adoringly. She also glanced at Xander, taking his hand with the other one and giving it a gentle squeeze. For as long as Celeste could remember she had always been happy to show public displays of affection and she tried not to shudder, glancing quickly away from her parents as she crinkled her nose in disgust, causing all three of them to laugh at her.
“You’ll understand what it’s like one day when you’re lucky enough to find your mate,” her mother commented in
amusement.
Celeste merely smiled and nodded, She held up the credit card in her hand. “Well as long as you have no objections, I’m going to the mall” she said, brimming with enthusiasm.
“Of course. Why don’t you take some of your friends and go shopping together?”
Celeste beamed. “Good idea. I’ll be back later.”
She was practically skipping from the room as she left. Her parents stared for a moment, before turning to

“I miss Fiona too,” Regan’s voice was low “but we can’t afford to upset Celeste on her special day. After, we can all go and visit the Black Lightning Pack. Maybe our other daughter will show some forgiveness for what we have done, or at least be willing
