Chapter 153
Liam POV
“I want you to mark me, Liam.”

Her voice had been so sincere, her big eyes fluttering at me as I tried to prevent myself from simply grabbing her and biting down. I had wanted to mark her for as long as I had known her, but being a gentleman, I had forced myself to wait. I wondered if she knew what she was asking but as I gently gripped the back of her neck, it was as though something else was taking over me. I couldn’t refuse her if I tried. My wolf was urging me on, almost purring in anticipation. We had been dreaming of this moment and now that it was here, part of me was almost hesitant to do so. I didn’t want her to look back on this moment with regrets but my wolf was becoming more and more demanding as I fought back my natural inclinations to simply take her, doing what came naturally to shifters.
Mark her already, he demanded impatiently. It’s been too long and I want her to be claimed by us. Once she’s marked no other male will dare to touch her. They will all know that Fiona is ours. He sounded triumphant and his tone was filled with satisfaction.
I tried to block his ever–insistent voice out of my mind, taking a deep breath and slowly exhaling. I didn’t want to hurt my mate, aware that this could sting. I felt my canines slowly beginning to grow from my mouth. To her credit, my mate didn’t even flinch. Instead, she continued to look at me, her eyes filled with complete trust. I slowly bent my head and instead of simply biting down, I began to kiss the nape of her neck, suckling on the skin as she flung her head back, her hand clutching my shoulder in shock. I had surprised her. She gave a gasp of pleasure, her fingers scrabbling at my shirt. I waited until she was no longer looking at me, her inhibitions slowly fading and then I bit down, causing blood to surge to the surface. I pulled back and tenderly licked the wound closed. A mark appeared on her shoulder of a black wolf and a star above its head. I looked at it with satisfaction. She had my alpha wolf on her shoulder and now there was no taking it off. It was permanent and a reminder that she belonged to me. She was mine.
Fiona’s eyes were shining as she traced the mark slowly with the tip of her index finger. There was a look of wonder on her face. Then to my shock, she spoke, her own teeth beginning to grow out of her mouth. Now that I had marked her, she would be able to do the same with me, wolf or no wolf. The process always allowed for the both of us to mark one another. I waited, knowing how nervous she was feeling although there was no reason to be. I wanted this just as much as she had, maybe even more so.
“My turn,” she said hoarsely, a look of anxiety on her face.
I tilted my head to the side, exposing the nape of my neck to her and giving her access to the soft flesh she needed to bite. She trailed her fingers across the skin causing me to let out a low gasp. Tingles spread throughout my skin and down my spine. I continued to lean down, awaiting the inevitable. I felt the sharp prick of her teeth as she very slowly bit down, feeling blood burst to the surface. I felt her licking it away, closing the wound and then I straightened back up as she reluctantly stepped away, her canines already beginning to fade. My finger traced the mark as I stared at her, knowing it would be a perfect match to the one she already contained on her neck. A perfect pair. Two souls in one. Thank you, moon goddess, I thought for a moment, for giving me this woman and leading her to me.
“Did I hurt you?” I asked out of concern.
She looked stunned by the simple question. I cupped her cheek looking fiercely into her eyes. “Now you’re mine,” I said quietly “and nobody is ever going to lay hands on you again. You are my Luna, my everything. The other half to me. Any man who so much as looks at you I’ll kill them without hesitation.”
She laughed despite herself, tears coming to her eyes. “You’re mine too,” she whispered shyly back, nibbling on her lower lip. “You’re my mate forever now” she finished, her eyes shining up at me.
She was so beautiful. Better than I had ever imagined in my mate. I felt nothing but love wash over me as I continued to look at her, raking my gaze up and down her body, unable to drag my eyes away from her.
“Forever and always” I vowed to her, bending down and kissing her lips softly as she arched her back, her hand automatically going to my chest and resting there lightly.

Finally, she is ours. We no longer have to worry that she’ll leave us or that somebody may harm her. No unmated males will be able to go near her. We’ve finally claimed her for ours he growled.
As if I would ever let an unmated male come near her. I knew exactly what some of those so–called shifters were capable of and I knew when to keep a close eye on her. Anyone who tried to touch her now would lose a hand.
We had marked her. We hadn’t mated her yet. I didn’t wish to push her as much as I desired to have her. I rubbed the back of my neck as I stepped back, giving her a wry smile and looking at her with some consideration. Her clothes were nice but not exactly grand or stood out. I wanted her to feel as beautiful as she looked to me. I wanted her to show her family what exactly she was made of. I wanted my Luna to look glorious. She was ready to shine.
“I guess we should organize something for you to wear to your sister’s birthday party. I don’t want my Luna to be shown up by another woman now” I said smirking.
“Oh, I can just wear an old dress or something…” she petered off at the fierce expression on my face.
I shook my head determinedly. Now that she was my Luna, she needed to be dressed for the occasion. I wanted to be able to show her off. I wanted to rub the fact she was mine in everybody’s faces. I wanted her family to see for themselves what a loss it was when they decided that she was less worthy than her half–sister. I reached into my pocket and withdrew my black bank card, handing it to her. Her mouth dropped open.
“Get a dress. Get a new wardrobe. Make sure you are fully outfitted. You are now my Luna and will need to be dressed to match the title. Besides, wouldn’t it be fun to outshine your sister?” I asked meaningfully when it appeared she was about to
hesitate.
It was wrong of me to say that I know but it appears to do the trick. She flattened her lips and then gave me a look of determination.
“You outshine her anyway but I want you to be confident walking back into that pack. Do what you have to do” I smiled at her trying to soothe her ruffled feathers.
“Thank you, Liam,” she stammered.
“Mate” I corrected her, “you never have to call me Liam if you prefer a different one.”
I half hoped she would give me a pet name. Something to indicate her affection for me. My wolf snorted in response. “I’ll get somebody to accompany you….” I began and she shook her head.
“Let me go alone. Please. I know just the place and I know you’re too busy to accompany me” she added hastily when I opened my mouth to protest.
When it came to her I was never busy. I would drop everything if she needed me. I could see how much this meant to her though.
I hesitated but the look on her face gave me pause and in the end I conceded. “Very well, but at the first sign of trouble call me.”
“It’s the mall,” she laughed, hugging me tightly. “What kind of trouble could I possibly get into at the mall?”
I didn’t answer because, to me, trouble could be found anywhere. My mate was naïve in that respect, too innocent to consider that no matter what, dangerous men lurked everywhere. It was a lesson I wished she never had to learn.
