Liam POV
I waited impatiently downstairs, glancing at my watch for what felt like the hundredth time, shaking my head. Five minutes, I had told her, and five minutes was about to pass. Fiona could be in trouble. I thought and was about to walk up the stairs, churching the balustrade when I heard a panicked scream come from Celeste’s bedroom.
“Don’t do it. Fiona I said I was sorry. Don’t hurt me.” she screamed.
It was loud enough that I knew everybody outside would hear it. It was no surprise that everybody came running at the sound. Celeste had made it sound as though she was in the process of being murdered. I knew, however, that she was most likely being melodramatic. There was no way that Fiona could possibly harm somebody who had a wolf. It was impossible.
I tensed, though, as I stared upwards. I knew that Fiona would never hurt her sister or Celeste, unless she was forced to out of necessity and self–preservation. What kind of game was Celeste playing at now? I ran, even as others began to do the same. Regan next to me while her mates followed behind her. I reached the room first and barged in, only to stop in my tracks, unable to believe what I was seeing. I blinked, thinking daredly that I must be imagining it, but the truth was right in front of my eyes All this time and I hadn’t even had an inkling that she had this in her. I was stunned and speechless at the same time. I was also extremely proud as I gazed upon the scene and took in everything from Celeste to the wolf who was pinning her down, preventing her from escaping
She was a sight to behold. Beautiful. Glorious Amazing. All those words flicked through my mind as I stared at her. Celeste was pinned in front of her, between the bed and Fiona, her eyes darting desperately back and forth as her parents came skidding into the room only to halt in their tracks as well. They all looked dumbfounded as they looked at my mate and saw that she had transformed into a wolf and not just any wolf. I realized with a crooked grin, but an Alpha wolf. Fiona’s wolf was my equal and I could not be any prouder of her than I was in that moment. I couldn’t wait until we got back to the pack and went on a run with each other.
“Mother, father’s help me. She just went crazy,” Celeste cried, pointing at my mate, who let out a low growl, her black wolf standing intimidatingly over her.
I doubted it. Fiona was one of the most kind–hearted women I knew. Celeste had to have provoked her into shifting. Otherwise, how would Fiona have found her wolf and transformed like this? I wanted to reach out and touch her, but I wisely kept my hands to myself. Regan, Xander, and Xavier gaped while Celeste continued to sob, her body shivering. She was afraid of Fiona, I realized, and fought to keep my grin back. It served the girl right. I still hadn’t forgiven her for what happened at the last party. She was getting her just desserts. I was not inclined to help her out of this situation. She had made her bed, and she should lie in it.
“I don’t understand.”
Regan is the first to comment on my mate’s transformation, her eyes never leaving Fiona’s form. “I mean, why is she….…..” she trailed off as I glanced at her sharply, daring her to continue.
If she said anything degrading or insulting about my mate, I would not hesitate to intervene, my own growl coming from my lips as a warning.
“She is my child,” Xander’s voice is solemn as he stares at Fiona, so naturally, she already has Alpha blood in her.”
It was a given. I saw Regan nod, even as I acknowledged him with a surreptitious nod of my own.
“I’m not contesting that,” Regan hissed and then motioned to a silent Celeste, “but why her when Celeste isn’t….” she trailed off again, a bewildered expression on her face.
Xander turned on her, a look of pure rage on his face. It appeared that Regan had gone too far this time. “So you’re saying my daughter isn’t worthy of being a black wolf, is that what you are trying to say Regan?” his voice was chilling-
Regan blinked and realized she had angered her mate. Xavier was silently studying Fiona and Celeste, a thoughtful expression on his face.

“No, Xander, that’s not what I meant at all. Please don’t be angry, I’m just confused, that’s all. I thought that maybe Celeste would have gained our shifter forms and…”
I was confused by that statement and shrugged it off. I put my arms across my chest, and Celeste looked at me indignantly.
“Do something already,” she shrieked, “she’s trying to kill me.
1 narrowed my eyes as Regan began to approach Fiona tentatively, her hands held out in surrender. “Fiona, honey. You can shift back now. I’m sure that you didn’t mean to attack Celeste like this. Move away now,” she tried to coax.
“Actually, I’m sure she did. Why don’t you tell the truth, Celeste? Why did Fiona suddenly shift? She didn’t have her wolf before she came up here, and only certain circumstances would have forced her to shift now,” I said silkily, enjoying the look of sheer panic crossing her face. “Such as if she believed you to be a threat to her, for instance, “I added as the others looked at each other.
“What are you implying?” Regan snapped.
She had paused in her tracks and turned to regard me. I sighed, feeling as though the woman was obvious to her daughter’s true nature. I shook my head. Xander, however, put the pieces together, narrowing his eyes at Celeste and speaking with anger in his tone. “You tried to attack her, didn’t you? That’s why she shifted. Why Celeste? Today of all days, why would you choose to hurt her?” he asked slowly.
…I… didn’t,” she stammered, trying to look innocent.
To my surprise, Xander wasn’t buying it. He looked at her sharply and took in the embarrassed red hue on Celeste’s cheeks while Fiona continued to corner her, refusing to move from her spot.
“You’re lying,” he said nonchalantly and then glanced at Regan and Xavier, “we all know it. Surely you aren’t stupid enough to believe her lies this time? Fiona is not the evil villain you continue to make her out to be,” he added irritably, “and Celeste has been far less truthful on numerous occasions. Fiona,” he made a motion towards her, “why don’t you shift back into your human form so that you can speak. I would be very interested in what you have to say,” he added darkly.
There was shock on Celeste’s face. As most manipulative girls did, she turned to her mother for support.
“Mother, you can’t honestly think.” she began but Regan was stepping back now, standing between Xaver and Xander, her own eyes narrowing as she looked at Celeste in sudden suspicion.
“I want to hear Fiona’s side. If I hadn’t seen the disappointment on your face today, the anger and the humiliation you continued to declare when you saw your wolf, I might be inclined to believe you, but now…” Regan shook her head, “now I’m not sure what to believe. You and Fiona have never gotten along together, and I’m starting to wonder if part of it had to do with you and not just come from her as I originally thought.
Wow. Parental interference. Who wo
have thought the Dominions would finally see the light when it came to Celeste? I had thought they would remain blind forever. As for her wolf…I frowned. Celeste’s wolf should have been a black or white wolf as her parents were. So why would she have been disappointed by it? It made no sense at all. I glanced at the parents, but they were busy turning to Fiona and ignoring Celeste.
“I wonder if she knows how to shift?” I heard Xander murmur and saw him step forward, but I got there first.
“Fiona, just imagine that you are your human form. Think about your hair color, the length of it, the color of your eyes” I instructed calmly, “come back sweetheart. You are a beautiful wolf,” I added, touching her fur and then stepping back, “but I would like to see the human part of my mate if you please. I promise nothing is going to happen” I added, glowering at the others in the room.
Gasps filled the air as she began to shift back with ease.
