Chapter 168
Alpha Liam POV
This is interesting. I put my arm around my mate and watch the proceedings, taking delight in the way Celeste’s face drains of colour. The little bitch had tried to frame my mate again and I was enjoying the way she was being humiliated. Alpha Max looked angry as he faced off against the Dominions, who looked flabbergasted at the way he had chosen to halt the ceremony. My mate looked just as intrigued as she glanced between Celeste and Alpha Max, a look of glee on her face. She was enjoying this just as much as I was, if not more so after that stunt Celeste had tried to pull upstairs.
“Alpha Max, with all due respect, what exactly do you mean that Celeste is coming back with you?” Regan Dominion asked faintly.
Her two mates were silent, evidently speechless. Nobody had anticipated that somebody would stop the all–important Alpha ceremony. Now that it had been, the pack couldn’t have looked more cheerful. Pack members lived for gossip and what was happening was bound to be spoken about for the next few months at least.
Luna Regan looked at her daughter for her thoughts on this, but Celeste was swaying on her feet, clutching at Xavier Dominion, her father’s arm, for support. Suspicion began to lurk in my mind as well as a feeling of satisfaction. It looked as though Celeste was about to get her just desserts. I knew Alpha Max by reputation, and he was not one to speak lightly, and he always followed through with his threats. If he was claiming that Celeste was coming back with him, then she might as well pack her bags now. It appeared even Celeste’s parents weren’t enough to intimidate him. I was impressed by the man. I also wished him luck. Why on earth he wanted Celeste to go back with him, I would never know. He could do so much better if he was looking for a chosen mate.
“I believe your daughter already knows the reason with all due respect Mrs Dominion or Luna Regan,” Alpha Max said raising a brow and looking pointedly at Celeste who began to shake her head in denial, all the blood draining out of her face.
Oh, she knew alright. She was simply feigning ignorance in an attempt to get herself out of this mess. It was not going to work. Not this time. I suspected that whatever the reason, Alpha Max would have some form of proof as to what she had done to him.
She looked as though she was on the verge of trying to turn on her heel and run. I almost wished she would simply for the comedic value. My mate leaned forward in her chair, her eyes assessing her so–called sister.
“Whatever she’s done, he looks angry enough for his wolf to come out if she’s not careful,” she murmured.“She’s made him on the verge of losing control. I wonder what she did?” she said lightly.
“She’s only getting what’s coming to her,” I murmured in her ear as she turned to me, my finger lightly placing a loose strand behind her ear. “I have a feeling she’s wronged Alpha Max in some way.”
Like the possibility she had drugged the man as she had drugged me and attempted to seduce me. I had a feeling there was more to this story than Alpha Max wanting to claim her because he was eyeing Celeste with pure hatred. He looked as though he couldn’t even stomach to look at her but was forcing himself to do so.
Regan turned to Celeste. “What is Alpha Max talking about, daughter?” she asked quietly while the whole pack began to turn and gossip amongst each other.
Her tone was tinged with grief. It looked as though even Luna Regan was believing Max over her daughter.
This was probably the most exciting thing the pack had seen all week. I had never seen such expectant looks on their faces as they chattered amongst each other as though this was a television drama they were all enjoying immensely.
“I don’t know, mother,” Celeste continued to deny, glaring at the man. “I have no idea who this man is or what he wants,” she
lied.
Bullshit. The way he was eyeing her, she should have just fessed up while she had the chance. The man let out a low growl, causing some in the pack to quiet. Eager looks were on the faces of the pack. Celeste wasn’t as well–liked as her parents, or she liked to believe. Somehow, I wasn’t surprised, given her attitude and inclination to do whatever she wanted and damn

“You don’t know who I am?” the man’s voice was dark. “Really? So when your chose to drug me and then sleep with me while I was under the effects of the aphrodisiac you gave me, you didn’t know who I was?” he asked bluntly.
Oh Uh. Looks as though Celeste had something to explain. I glanced at my mate and saw that she was transfixed by the scene in front of her, looking absolutely spellbound.
Bingo. Celeste had tried her little trick on somebody else only they weren’t immume to it. She had practically raped the man. No wonder he was furious with her. She looked on the verge of panic, her lip beginning to tremble. She was trying to play the innocent victim again. I had to hand it to her, she was one hell of an actress. She should be in movies the way she managed to easily turn the tears on and off.
“He’s lying,” she blurted out in desperation, turning to her parents, who were looking at her with suspicion on their faces. “I would never do such a thing, never!” she cried out.
Alpha Max was unmoved as tears shimmered in her eyes. He raised a brow. “Really? Because I remember that night in the club,” he said silkily, “and I remember turning you down. It appears you didn’t like that because you spiked my drink, and when I staggered out, you helped me back to my room, and the next thing I knew, I was waking up, my clothes on the floor and the smell of sex in the air.”
He looked at her with revulsion. It was a sight to behold.
The pack erupted. It was so loud that Luna Regan had to intervene to make herself heard.
“Everybody quiet,” she said sharply, “I want to hear this. I remember that you went to a club not that long ago” she said turning to her daughter and eyeing her with disappointment, “but I never thought you would be capable of something as horrible as this. How could you?” she said with a slight tinge of disgust, “what you’ve done is highly illegal. Alpha Max is well within his rights to demand retribution, and we would have no choice but to grant it.”
I was almost cheering the man on by that stage. It would do that brat good to be tortured or forced to make amends.
Celeste did not like the sound of that. She eyed her parents incredulously. “Why are you taking his side over mine?” she exclaimed.
That was it. I stood up so fast that my mate’s head almost spun. I was through with Celeste’s so–called play–acting. “Because you tried it with me.”
My words were clear and concise. Alpha Max looked taken aback. I cleared my throat. “At Fiona’s birthday party, I made it clear I was not interested in you. I could smell my mate’s scent, but you still tried your luck anyway. You drugged me, not knowing I was practically immune. If you had your way, I would have slept with you and no doubt stood no chance of my mate accepting me once she found out. You’ve done this before, Celest,e and I said nothing out of respect for Fiona, but now…now you have to face the consequences of your actions.”
My mate was furious. I had never seen her so angry before. In front of everyone, she promptly stood up and walked slowly towards Celeste, who began to cower in front of her. Her voice dripped with hatred as she faced off against her sister.
“What you did was despicable. I’ve always put up with your crap” she sneered as Regan and the other two who were like parents to her stood there not making a move, “but I’m through with that now. I’m through with everybody looking the other way for what you have done.”
She raised her hand and slapped Celeste right in front of everyone, leaving behind a big red handprint as Celeste put a hand to her cheek and stared dumbfounded at her parents, who had made no move to stop Fiona.
