Chapter 86
Regan POV
Pain. It coursed through my body, and I throbbed all over. I lay as the grass, feeling as though I was half dead, my back bloody and form. The vial that I had so carefully placed between by breast had miraculously survived, and once Isabelle Fat sauntered back off to the pack house with that Cheshire cat grin of hers. I had movert it into the pocket of my parts, not wanting it to slip out and fall. The vial was the only chance that bad of being able to being Alpha pickson, the twirls father back to his normal self and break the spell that he was under, or rather the effects of the herb bed unknowingly drunk.
The guards kept watch. My head lay to the side and my hair splayed across the grass. My clothes were now torn, filthy, and muddy. I didn’t care. I was tired. Exhausted and weak. My hands remained cuffed, and the collar continually burned my neck, reminding me that it was ever–present. The leash allowed me to move only a few feet, but even that was too much right now. I could feel tears trickling down my cheeks as I wondered about Xavier and Xander. There had been more pain, not caused by the whipping that had happened afterward, making me certain that my mates were being tortured or worse. Had they been killed? Surely, I would have felt their death through the mate bond? I could feel myself beginning to feel hopeless and strove to keep myself from losing it, knowing that now was not the time to break down even though I was close to it.
Get it together Regan. You can’t afford to lose your composure right now. Xander and Xavier are not dead, they are coming for you, I thought to myself. They won’t let you stay here and suffer. I shuddered, remembering Isabelle’s promise that she was nowhere near finished, with me. It hadn’t been an empty threat. She was more than capable of continuing to hurt me. She was exactly like my father and her mother. She had no conscience at all. I bit the inside of my lower lip to stop myself from groaning out loud. My nails dug into the grass, my breathing shallow and my lungs starved of oxygen. Even breathing felt like my lungs were on fire. It hurt so bad that falling unconscious would have been a mercy, but now I was awake and the pain was always constant.
“I can’t believe we have to babysit this stupid bitch” one of the guards commented to the other, a note of revulsion in his tone of voice.
He was disgusted with the notion of it, believing it to be below him as a warrior. I didn’t blame him. This was not the usual duty and I remembered he was a member of the patrol.
“Can’t be helped” the other one countered back, sounding irritable. “Unless you want to tell the queen bee over there that you’ve had enough? Then there will be two of you tied to the posts being whipped” he added scornfully. “You’d be stupid to go against that Heather woman right now and Alpha Jackson is just as bad, agreeing to everything she says. Never seen a man so bloody enamored with his mate or Luna.”
The first one sniffed. “Still, it’s not one of my duties” he grumbled. “Where exactly is she going to go, collared up like that” he pointed out with annoyance “she can hardly move let alone go more than a few feet” he added.
“Stuffed if I know” the second one sounded amused, “But do you want to be in trouble if she somehow manages to free herself?” he asked sarcastically “because I sure as hell don’t. It would be my head on the chopping block.”
“No” the first one scowled “that Isabelle has a damn temper. She’s like an ice queen,” he said with a grimace.“Pretty as anything on the outside but cold as ice on the inside” he murmured.
I couldn’t help but agree. Still, it was amusing to hear the guards didn’t appreciate the assignment they’d been given. I tried to peer up at them, but my hair hid my face, and I couldn’t bring myself to move my arms to shift it aside. I slumped back down, feeling defeated. I heard the sound of growls coming from behind the guards and stiffened, wondering who it could be. Those smells, those scents. It couldn’t be. It was impossible and yet there was no denying it. It had to be them. I lifted my head cautiously again, even as I heard the guards begin to turn and address them. Both of them sounded taken aback, not expecting to be approached by the two twins. How they had managed to escape, I wasn’t sure but I had never been more grateful to see them then I was right then.
“How did you get free?” one demanded, sounding panicked.
They would be no match for two alphas, no matter how experienced they were at fighting.
I heard the sounds of scuffling and snarls as the guards proceeded to put up a fight. I peered through the slight gaps in my hair, seeing my mates throwing punches, kicking out at the two other warriors and successfully defeating them within mere moments. However, I was certain that the warriors would have innd–linked for help, unless they didn’t have time too. 1 wasn’t willing to take that chance. I would rather die than put the boys in danger again. It was better me than them.
“Go” I whimpered, making an effort to raise myself up as Xavier and Xander rushed over to me. “More men will be on the way and you can’t get caught” I gasped out loud.
They were risking their lives to save me. Didn’t they understand the danger they were in? I was injured but still alive. Isabelle didn’t have plans to kill me yet. She wanted to torture me first. I motioned for them both to go–but the two of them stubbornly shook their heads. “No,” Xavier said, kneeling down and looking at me, a key in his hand.
He must have grabbed that from the guards. Had Isabelle been pid enough to trust the guards with it in case they needed to use it? I could hardly believe my luck. Then again, maybe they had been instructed to free me for more torture later? Who knew.
He began to undo the collar while Xander undid the cuffs. I let out a sob, feeling the silver leave my body, the burning sensation finally stopping. Xavier swept me up in his arms and nodded at Xander with a grim expression on his face.
“We’re not going to make it into the pack house without being discovered.”
“If we don’t get to our father then we’re lost. Regan” Xander’s voice is urgent, “Do you still have the vial? Is it in one piece?” he sounded frazzled.
“It’s in my pocket” I rasped “safe and unbroken.”
At least for now.
“Over here” I heard a shout and my head turned to see somebody waving in the distance. I recognized them instantly.
The boys began to run, without looking back. I could feel my body jolting and bouncing as I was carried, wincing at the pain. Malcolm was gesturing from the back of the pack house where the omegas normally resided. As we ran to him, Malcolm shoved the door open and pushed us all inside, shutting the door swifly behind him. “It won’t be long until those guards come to,” he said grimly “and a search party is sent out to look for you all. You’re going to need to hide until you can get to your father” he added, raising a brow and looking thoughtful.
“Hide where?” Xavier hissed. “Look at her” he gestured and that’s going to take hours.”

Hours would be an understatement. Although now that the silver was gone maybe the wolfsbane would leave my system sooner and the recovery would be quicker than anticipated. I was eager to be able to reach my wolf again.
Malcolm bit his lip. “The omega quarters” he blurted out suddenly, looking pleased with himself.
I had to admit that was ingenious. I had forgotten all about those quarters and from the mystified looks on the twins faces they weren’t entirely sure what Malcolm was talking about..
Xander and Xavier stared at him. “The abandoned wing? Remember. You did renovations to the omega’s quarters two years ago, extending it and leaving one of the wings behind, intending to renovate it later, It’s still there, abandoned. Nobody will look for you there” he said nodding, as the confused expressions on the twin’s faces swiftly disappeared.
Malcolm began to move swiftly through the packhouse, taking us down long corridors and through the back passageways, through various doors until we came to the omega’s quarters. We continued, all of the omegas were thankfully all busy doing work and not in their rooms, to the back, and through a lone door, leading into an abandoned wing, Xavier and Xander quickly found a bedroom and put me gently down, before sitting down on the ground beside me.
“I might be able to persuade Alpha Jackson to come here,” Malcolm said, looking at all of us. “Otherwise I’ll mind–link you and you’ll have to come up with another way” he added grimly.
“We appreciate it but is it safe for you to go back?” asked Xander solemnly “Somebody could have seen you or Isabelle and Heather might put two and two together.”
If I don’t, we won’t know what’s going on. Besides, I’m the Beta, aren’t I? So, it all falls on me, doesn’t it? Until you two are back in charge?” Malcolm teases.
“Fine” Xavier’s voice was curt as he began to examine my back, but be careful. If you get caught it’s another person we must rescue.” he said as Xander sighed, shooting his brother a look of laggers.
It was entirely inappropriate and the wrong thing to say. Xavier However, flattened his lips and refused to say anything more. I wondered if Malcolm would be successful in persuading Alpha Jackson to come to us and found myself doubting it. Then again, if he could be spoken to without Heather present….it all had to do with luck. If any other pack members saw us in the pack house or where we ended up…or who helped us. I silently gave a groan, even as Xander quickly took the vial out of my pocket and fingered it, his eyes narrowing.
Xavier accidentally touched my back, and I jolted, giving a small cry of pain. “Sorry, sorry” he apologized quickly.
I whimpered and he gritted his teeth, a ferocious expression on his face at the sound. “Don’t worry, we’ll get revenge on Isabelle” he promised thickly, beginning to stroke my hair.
Malcolm subtly left the room and the twins promptly moved some furniture in front of it, in case we were discovered. It would only give us precious seconds to escape but it was better than nothing.
“If she hasn’t recovered by nightfall and we haven’t heard from him, I’m taking the vial and going by myself,” Xavier told Xander firmly, “And you’ll stay behind and keep her safe” he instructed as Xander tried to protest.
I opened my mouth to object, but the room began to spin in front of me and I closed my eyes, sinking back into unconsciousness.
