Chapter 98
Regan POV
Xander has been avoiding me. No matter how hard I try to convince him that everything is fine between us, he acts as though he’s done something unforgivable. I can feel him growing even more distant and no matter how much I try to reach him, it’s as though he’s already pulled away from me. I sighed, staring down at my bowl miserably, pushing it away at the dining table and feeling forlorn. I want my mates. Even Xavier is missing from the pack house at the moment, and I suspect that he’s gone to have a private discussion with Xavier, having already exclaimed he’s disgusted at the way his twin brother is currently treating me.
“Maybe I’ll go for a walk” I wrinkle my brow and consider my options, feeling a little bored and at a loose end without my mates, “or go for a run” I added with a little bit of enthusiasm as my wolf nodded her head happily in agreement with that choice. It had been a long time since we had last gone for a run. I pushed my chair back, stood up, and then moved away from the dining table, heading towards the front foyer and hearing the sound of whispers as three omegas huddled closely together and began to gossip.
“Can you believe it? He threw a punch directly at him? Since when do they fight like that?”
Her voice is filled with awe.
“He must be really angry to take it out on his own flesh and blood like that,” the second one said, sounding a little stunned.
“Well, I heard that one of the twins has been keeping their distance from their mate. Would you care to bet which one it is?” another omega interjected as I was about to walk past them.
I stiffened, putting two and two together, my head swiveling to look at the three omegas who seemed oblivious to my presence.
Twins? There was only one set of twins in this pack and that was the Alpha twins, my mates. Why were the omegas discussing Xavier and Xander so casually in the front foyer and why was there such excitement on their faces? I cleared my throat and three guilty heads turned towards me as I narrowed my eyes at them, a look of displeasure on my face.
“Luna Regan” one stammered as they all bared their necks towards me in submission, a sign of respect and acknowledgment that I was the mate of the Alpha twins.
I put my hands on my hips and stared at them hard. “What were you just talking about?” my tone is icy “Were you discussing my mates?” I accused.
They should know better than to be gossiping in the front foyer where anybody could overhear them, but I decided that was another matter altogether, more concerned about what my mates were up to.
They glanced at each other guiltily. One hung her head in shame, staring directly at the floor. “Yes, Luna. We were” she admitted sheepishly.
“Why?” I asked, curious.
These particular omegas were not usually ones to gossip and in fact were more polite than the rest. However, they were also younger and more inclined to chatter during their duties, something I had never minded before. The first one bit her lip, looking nervously at the others, and then sighed, a look of resignation on her face, sensing her friends were not about to come forward. “It’s because of what the two of them are doing a this moment” she confessed, “it’s gotten everybody talking about it
Jnstinctively I knew she meant the entire pack when she said everybody. Nobody had mind–linked me to let me know there
was a problem. I frowned to myself. “What are they doing that has everybody so excited?” I asked, feeling as though something was instinctively wrong. If the entire pack was talking about it, then it had to be something serious or dangerous. I was laying bets it was the former.
I could also feel little pains on my body here and there, but put them off as training pangs. They were hardly worth mentioning but evidently, they now had something to do with whatever my mates were up to. Clearly, they weren’t training as I had originally suspected.
“You truly don’t know Luna Regan?” the omega closest to me asked in concern.
I shook my head, feeling irritable. The other omega sighed. “The Alpha twins are fighting each other, on the grounds,” she said tightly. “They are throwing punches and trying to hurt each other. It’s the first time any of us have seen them try to fight one another without it having anything to do with training
My mates were trying to injure each other? Why hadn’t somebody said something?
“Are you serious?” I asked in disbelief. “Why didn’t anybody come and get me?” I shouted in frustration.
As their mate, I could have calmed them down and gotten them to stop what they were doing. Why was everybody just letting this happen? I wondered if Alpha Jackson knew what his sons were up to and if he was leaving them to work out their issues or some other such nonsense…
How could the two brothers be so stupid? How could they hurt each other as though it was nothing? I turned and stormed towards the front door, sensing everybody’s eyes on me.
“We wanted to tell you” the youngest omega shouted “but we didn’t want you to get hurt separating them.”
Let me make that decision next time” I roared, slamming the front door shut behind me and rushing out to the grounds, my eyes scanning the surroundings.
I was fully enraged now. I couldn’t believe that Xavier and Xander were doing something so reckless and to each other nonetheless. If they harmed one another, they wouldn’t forgive the other. Stupid fools!
I could hear loud noises coming from around the corner and behind the pack house. I straightened my shoulders and headed intentionally towards the sounds, recognizing they were coming from none other than my two mates. I gritted my teeth, feeling as though I was about to knock both their heads together in anger. They better have a good explanation for this. I thought sourly, or else I was going to give them an injury worth crying over! I headed around the corner and stopped in my tracks, my mouth opening stunned. Xander and Xavier were fighting, but not in the same way they did in training Xavier had a furious expression on his face and was pummelling Xander in the face while Xander tried to protect himself. bucking his brother off his body and leaping back to his feet.

“Xavier” I shouted, wrestling with him fiercely as Xander stared up at his brother with glacial eyes. “Stop, he’s had enough.”
He paused, blood trickling down his lip. Both twins had minor injuries, their bodies littered with bruises. From the looks of the two of them, they had been fighting for a while before I had made it out here to scold them. What on earth had gone on between the two of them to have them having an all–out brawl like this? I managed to drag Xavier to his feet and push him backward, while Xander slowly got up, spitting out blood onto the grass and glowering at his twin brother. I felt sick.
“Are you going to tell me what’s going on right now?” I demanded putting my hands on my hips, “And why you’re acting like such children?” I bit out. “You’re brothers, you shouldn’t be hurting each other like this” I snapped, feeling beyond exasperated with the two of them as they continued to remain silent, the both of them eyeing each other with contempt. Whatever was happening, it was clear that I was in the middle of it.
