Alex got married. I helped him find his wife, his high school classmate. She was kind and loving; Alex was truly happy.
And so was I.
“Millie, come on!”
Gu Yuan, a picture of jovial mischief, waved from beneath a tree, his antics drawing laughter from the elderly villagers.
hopped onto the back of his scooter, giving him a stealthy pinch.
“Gu Yuan, must you be so flamboyant? You’re embarrassing me.*
He chuckled, unfazed.“You’re my girlfriend. Let them laugh.”
We were together now, it just… happened. No grand declarations, no flowery pronouncements, simply a natural progression.
Tonight, we’re going to the town together to watch a movie.
Gu Yuan deliberately wanted to show off our relationship, deciding against driving but riding a motorcycle leisurely and wandering aimlessly.
Whenever he encountered an acquaintance, he stopped to greet them and then introduced me to them.
Fifteen minutes stretched into half an hoe to his numerous detours to chat with acquaintances, each meeting accompanied by roduction -“This is Millie, my girlfriend.” We arrived as the movie was already starting.
