Upon returning to the ward, Grace found that Devin was awake and attempting to get out of bed
Seeing that, she strode over, put down the kettle, and pressed him back onto the bed.
“Didn’t you promise me you’d rest? Why are you getting up again?”

Grace glanced at her watch and saw that she had only been out for less than ten minutes.

Grace felt his forehead with the back of her hand. Seeing his light smile, she couldn’t resist teasing him.
“I didn’t know the legendary Mr. Hudson, known for his spotless reputation, would also speak ill of others?”
Noticing her snicker, Devin gently pulled her into his arms.
“I’m also a mortal with emotions and desires, so of course I would speak ill of others and do bad things.”
“Bad things? What kind of bad things?”

The distance between them got closer and closer.
Devin’s hot breath pressed against Grace’s ear as he said in a deep voice, “Really? Then let’s have a serious kiss.”
Looking into those tender eyes so close, Grace swallowed the words of refusal that were on the tip of her tongue.
She turned her head and saw no one outside the ward, then closed her eyes.
“Okay, but you must never say that I lie to…”
Before she could finish speaking, a pair of soft lips covered hers and swallowed the rest of her words.
Their lips were entwined, and an atmosphere of intimacy filled the room.
Grace embraced him back, and her tense body slowly relaxed, melting into his burning chest.
She couldn’t hear or see anything except for the pounding of her heart.
The kiss lasted so long that she began to feel lightheaded from lack of oxygen.
