“When?”
Antonio shouted, nearly losing his balance.
Trent quickly explained, “Grace submitted her resignation letter early the day before yesterday.
“She said that her husband is stationed in Esnaria and she wants to take their son with her to join him and further her studies.
“She was set on this, so I followed the process and reported it for approval. Didn’t you know?”
As he listened, Antonio’s grip tightened even more, and he was almost unable to suppress a sarcastic laugh.
He wondered, “How could I not know that Grace has a husband working in Esnaria?”
Just as he was about to lose his temper, a kid’s voice came through the phone.
“Dad, why aren’t you watching TV with me yet?”
Trent’s soothing voice followed.
“Almost done. Sweetheart, be good and wait for me to finish’my call, okay?”
It seemed that every parent was naturally gifted with the ability

to soften their voice when speaking to a child.
Antonio listened blankly to the voices coming from the phone, once again uncontrollably thinking of Ivan.
In fact, he also had a complete family.
But it seemed like he had lost it.
Antonio sat on the kitchen floor all night.
This was the first time he felt so disheveled.
No matter how late he came home in the past, there was always a light on for him.
I would always sit on the sofa, quietly waiting for him to come home.
But now, all of that was gone.
The big house was left with just Antonio, alone, waiting for dawn.
The next day, Antonio arrived at the office without even changing his clothes.
Pushing open the door of his office, he saw that my workstation had already been cleaned up.
It was spotlessly clean, almost glaringly so.
On the desk, a thin document lay quietly, like Pandora’s box waiting to be opened.
His hands trembling, Antonio flipped it open, and a line of bold
text caught his eye.
“Due to personality differences, the couple has irreconcilable differences, leading to the breakdown of their marriage with no possibility of reconciliation.”
“After mutual consultation, both parties have agreed to divorce and hereby reach the following agreement…”
“Husband: Antonio Kaufman”
“Wife: Grace Parrish”
“So, you really are going to leave me.”
Antonio smiled, though tears inexplicably welled up in his eyes.
He had contemplated leaving many times but never imagined that the one to make the decision first would be me.
And he certainly hadn’t expected that unbeknownst to himself, the one who couldn’t let go was actually him.
Picking up the divorce papers, Antonio decisively turned around.
He was going to Esnaria; he had to find me.
He needed answers,
I was the one who got involved with him first, so why did I leave without a word?
The more he thought about it, the faster Antonio walked.
His face set, he headed out but accidentally bumped into a woman drenched in perfume.

“Mr. Kaufman?
“Where are you off to?”
“You didn’t take me home last night, so I had to stay in the hotel. I’m really mad about it,” Molly pouted, blocking Antonio’s path.
“Get lost.”
Antonio had no patience for this pretentious woman and spoke coldly.
Molly was taken aback, stamping her foot.
“Mr. Kaufman! What do you mean? If you keep this up, I’ll get angry.”
“Get lost!”
Antonio repeated, his gaze so icy that it could have chilled Molly to the bone.
Molly tried to speak again, but Antonio pushed her aside and left.
As he walked away, he talked on the phone.
“Hello? Can you help me find out Grace’s current address? Also, book a flight for me to Esnaria today.”
In Esnaria.
Today was Ivan’s first day of school.
I got up early to pack his backpack.

Although I had only been in Esnala for two days, I had actually planned this for a long time.
Half a year ago, I contacted a friend who worked in Esnaria.
I asked him to find a suitable house and school for me there, preparing for the divorce.
Initially, I hadn’t planned on coming this soon, but I was used to being prepared in advance.
Looking back, I was glad I had this habit, or else I would have been totally clueless.
I guessed I should thank Antonio for not being a total jerk; he was never stingy with money during our marriage.
After watching Ivan get on the school bus, I adjusted my coat and turned to head home.
Suddenly, a familiar voice sounded behind me.
“Grace.”
I turned around stiffly. Sure enough, it was Antonio.
He had aged a lot, his clothes were wrinkled, and his chin was covered in dense stubble.
Despite all this, he was still handsome.
That was how I was charmed in the past.
No one knew that I had only come to interview at the Stellaris Group for Antonio.
