“Pressuring me wouldn’t work grandfather, you should know that.” I rubbed my forehead and relaxed my head on the top of the couch trying and failing to tell my grandfather to ignore the complaints of the public.
He’s been going on and on about how I should get a partner.
“I think we’ve discussed this enough,” I said, trying to keep my frustration in check, “I’ll get someone soon, but you really need to stop forcing me and pressuring me on this same topic over and over again.”
I really shouldn’t have answered the call.
Placing the call on loud speaker, I dropped the phone on the table, and turned a glare towards Xavier who was having the mood of his life watching me in misery.
“I’m not pressuring you, I’m just making a point clear to you. Get a woman and this would be solved,” his voice sounded from the other end, and I groaned in misery, knowing fully well that suddenly ending the call would earn me a full hour speech of how unfilial I am.
Releasing a deep sigh, I mumbled, “I will.”
“That’s what you said the last time, yet you still don’t have any yet.”
“Oh jeez.” Xavier broke into a fit of laughter, throwing his head back in amusement.
“Is that Xavier?” Grandfather asked, suddenly switching the topic from me getting a woman.
“Yes,” I tossed the phone over to Xavier, and got up from the couch, pacing over to my office chair.
Before Xavier could utter a word, he said, “You are beginning to rub off your unfilial attitude on that lad. It’s been a month since I saw him last, and he hardly calls this day.” Xavier pressed his lips into a thin line and decided it wasn’t the best time to say anything as he passed the phone back to me–making a gesture to me that I should stay silent.
Tough luck.
I handed the phone back to him, “The phone is in his hands.”
“Oh, it is? Xavier!” Grandfather’s stern voice sounded from the other end.
“How are you doing, grandpops!” Xavier said with a strained cheerful voice, placing a hand on his hips and pacing around the office.
“Don’t bother asking how I’m doing when you’ve not made an effort to stop by recently. I really knew Rhysand would become a bad influence to you.” Grandfather said in thoughtfulness releasing a disappointed sigh.
Xavier burst into a chuckle and cleared his throat, “I got kind of busy with office work, that’s why, forgive me grandpops.” He said in a calm tone.
The call went on with my old man ranting continuously to Xavier and I ignored them, focusing on my laptop and trying to finish up the pile of work waiting for me.
After a while, Xavier ended the call with a deep breath before throwing a frown in my direction, “You really don’t know how to stand up for your pals?”

“No.” I said, straight to the point.
Soon as he handed the phone back to me, less than two minutes later, another call came in again and I stared down to see who it was.
My brows pulled into a tight frown when I saw it was from my grandfather–again. I considered ignoring the call, but then answered it.
“Yes?”
“I wasn’t done with my conversation and the call was ended.” He muttered in complain.
“What do you want to say?”
He cleared his throat and I flicked my pen in my hand, waiting for him to respond, “I heard you brought a woman into your office today,” soon as he said those words, I knew the conversation wouldn’t end well in my favour cause he was going to pester me on it.
“So now you have people in my own company watching me?” I asked, surprised he knew about Evelynne stopping by already.
“I’ll call you back later, grandfather. I have work to do,” before he could say anything I ended the call and dropped the phone on my table.
I let out a deep sigh and rubbed my temples, feeling a headache coming on.
“You know…” Xavier started, “Everything would really get down if you just tell him you’ve got a mate already,” I shot him a look and he rose his hands up on the air.
“Everything would get worse, and you know it,” I paused, staring absentmindedly at the screen of the laptop, “Things would turn the other way if people find out and it gets to his ear.” There was no need to call his name, Xavier could already tell who I was referring to.
“By his ear you mean…” Xavier trailed before nodding in understanding.
“Guess we should just keep it quiet for now then,” he added, before sitting back on the couch.
“Yeah, I know.”
“Anyway, I should take my leave now.I have some work to finish off today or else my father would be on my neck, and I’ll have to say bye to party nights,” He stood up from the couch and picked up the file he had left on my table, before walking over to the door.
Only to stop midway with a very sudden question, “By the way, what do you intend to do with Evelynne? At this point you can’t really say nothing right?” he asked, sparing me a side glance.
I released a deep breath of air, I really don’t know yet, man. But for now, still nothing.” Weaving a hand through my hair, I released an exhausted breath.
Xavier chuckled, “This should be fun then,” and with that he waved a hand off before finally stepping out and leaving me to sink into my thoughts.
The room turned silent and my mind wandered off back to the lovely emerald eyes from hours ago, before I could think further, I shoved every thought about her out of my mind before turning to the laptop and typing the email I had stopped halfway.
