Chapter 9
Rhysand:
S
With every single step I took, my heart hammered in my chest at a rapid rate and I fought the urge to go back to her.
My hands itched to roam them around her, and every single time my fingers made contact with her skin, a wave of excitement engulfed me.
I was tempted to touch her to see if she’ll feel the spark also, but the closer I got to her, the deeper my anguish.
Fucking bond.
Her offer was more than convincing and I fought the urge to go back and accept it -but thinking about the fact that she’ll come in contact with me more if I accepted her offer and agreed to help her in whatever messed up way she needs, made me reject the offer.
I was running away from the prospect of having her close to me – cause I knew it would be difficult having her around me and I can’t do nothing cause she feels nothing.
Standing close to where my car was parked in the mansion, my legs came to a stop and I closed my eyes, taking a deep breath and desperately trying to soothe the newly disturbing demon raging inside me.
“What are you doing out here? the party is over already?” Xavier’s voice interrupted my thoughts and I finally opened my
eyes.
He was standing with a young woman, his hands wrapped around the lady who had her arms draped across his neck while he sandwiched her between his body and the car.
“Yeah. It’s over for me, I’m not going back in there.” I stated and walked over to where my car was parked, the urge to go to Evelynne lingered, and my fists clenched at the feeling of losing control over my own body.
back
Her scent was like a sirens call, drawing me in, making me want to surrender to its allure. It took everything in me to fight the urge to bury my face in her neck, to breath in the scent that was uniquely hers.
I desperately tried to resist the pull of her scent. But it was no use, I was now a prisoner of my own longing.
Ah, this is bad.
Really bad.
“We need to go Xavier.” My words came out strained than I had intended, and unfortunately for me, Xavier noticed.
Could this day get worse?
His lips pulled into a mocking smile, “Oh, I get it,” he stared down at the ginger haired lady, and mumbled something to her ear that had her blushing beet red, before he stepped away from her.
Her fingers wrapped tightly around the paper he had given her which I presumed had his number, before she left.
“You really can’t keep your dick in your pants for more than a day, can you?” I shook my head, opening the door to my car.
“Well, I’ve been keeping them in my pants for more than a week now.” He shrugged, before walking over to the ash colored Porsche panamera.

I shook my head, mindlessly tapping the roof of my car.
Xavier opened the door to the driver’s seat, before he stopped and turned to me, “By the way,” he looked around, “Where’s Evelynne?”
I quirked a brow at him.
“I thought you were gonna come out with her, after the commotion inside.” He motioned towards the mansion.
“I don’t have any business with her,” I replied, trying to hide the turmoil brewing inside me.
Xavier raised a brow, “Not what I was hoping for, especially after I saw you speaking with her like a while ago,” he pressed his lips into a thin line, “Things didn’t go as planned, I presume?”
I shook my head, not willing to divulge anything. “I’m not interested in having anything to do with her.”
Xavier’s head fell back as he broke into a fit of laughter, “Ah, Rhysand. First, the rogue wolves which you haven’t been able to handle for months now, second, the mate thing, third, your grandpop’s been on your neck, and now this. You’re having a rough time, my friend.”
I glared at him, but he just laughed and got into his car, starting the engine and pulling his glasses down. “What are you still waiting for? aren’t you leaving now?” He asked from his car.
My eyes subconsciously flicked back to the direction I had come from, and realization dawned on me.
Jesus, why was I waiting for her?
I’m in trouble, I reckoned, before entering my car –
my mind was still reeling from the conversation I had with Evelynne.
“Hey, Rhysand.” Xavier said from his car, and I pulled the window down with a frown etched on my face.
“What?”
“You okay, man? You seem a bit… distracted.”
Of course I was fucking distracted and couldn’t concentrate anymore to the point that it drove me nuts. I was perfectly convenient with never finding a mate, and at some point I had prayed that the goddess never bless me with one – but now this.
Blessed- or rather cursed- with a mate who doesn’t even feel the same… how was I supposed to be alright and not distracted?
I shook my head, trying to clear my thoughts. “I’m fine. Just a bit frustrated.”
Xavier nodded knowingly, despite the fact that I was certain he couldn’t tell what was going on in my head, “Guess I can tell. Well, how about we head to the clubhouse and get your mind off things. I have a few ideas.”
I raised an eyebrow. “Thanks bud, but I have to head to grandfather’s place right now, he’s been buzzing my phone with calls,” I noted, staring down at my call log and seeing that I had missed nearly twenty missed calls, and all was from my grandfather.
“Okay then. As for me, I got somewhere to be at.” Xavier said with a wave before closing his car window and driving off the mansion’s driveway.
I brushed my fingers along my hair before starting the engine of my car, prepared to leave before I lose control and go back to Evelynne to take her offer.

But just before I could pull my car out of the driveway, my eyes drifted outside as I heard a knock on my car window
With furrowed brows, I turned my head to see Evelynne standing outside my car, her eyes fixed on mine with so much determination that I could feel it down to my bones.
I hesitated for a moment before pressing a button and the window pulled down. With her eyes sparkling, the leaned in closer and my senses clouded with nothing but her scent.
“I have another offer.” She smiled big.
Whether the offer was tempting or not, a huge part of me knew I’ll accept,
