Counterback of the Despised Luna
Chapter 10 Working Alone
Caden’s POV:
I sat in the car, with Rosaline beside me, but she deliberately left a large gap between us.

She kept the same posture as when she got in, staring out of the window without even glancing at me.
I was frustrated. This woman was truly impossible to deal with. I was being kind, offering to drive her home, and she couldn’t even say thank you.
Unable to hold it in any longer, I spoke up. “You play the piano well. When did you start learning?”
Only then did Rosaline turn her head slightly, raising an eyebrow. “Well, I just started.”
What the hell is she talking about? She plays better than Wendy, who’s been practicing for five years.
I was speechless. But Rosaline kept smiling. “I just watched Wendy play clever, huh?”

My irritation boiled over. “Don’t you know how to speak properly? When can we have a proper conversation?”
“Well, we don’t then.”
Rosaline turned her head back to the window, ignoring me.
I furiously tugged at my tie.
I shouldn’t have tried to talk to her in the first place. What was I thinking?
Rosaline’s POV:
We didn’t say a word to each other until we reached home.
As soon as the car stopped in front of the house, Caden quickly got out. It was clear I’d gotten under his skin. But it was him who had started the conversation, not me. So, I wasn’t going to feel guilty.
I got out of the car and slowly made my way inside.
Caden was sitting on the sofa in the living room, holding a cup of water. As I walked by, he didn’t even look at me. I went straight upstairs, but I heard him slam the cup down on the table with a loud thud.
It was funny that the future Alpha of the Eclipse p
was throwing a tantrum over something so trivial.
This man’s self–control was clearly lacking. If he ever did become Alpha of Eclipse Pack, someone from another pack with more ambition would surely bring him down.
The next morning, at breakfast, Eleanor and Queenie continued their snide remarks, trying to mock me.
I ignored them completely, treating them as if they weren’t even there.
The more I ignored them, the angrier they got,

After finishing breakfast, I went straight to work at Eclipse Group.

Being a secretary was easy for me, especially as an Alpha from Shadow Pack. I got through my tasks quickly. and I even had a short nap before lunchtime.
After I returned from the washroom. I found a pile of new files on my desk with Stella standing next to
them.
“What’s all this?” I asked.
Stella spoke in a commanding tone, “These files need to be entered into the system today. You were supposed to do them with someone else, but they’re on leave, so it’s all on you now. And remember–today
I glanced over the files briefly. They needed to be inputted one by one, which was tedious and time consuming. If I was going to finish them by the end of the day, I’d definitely have to work overtime.
“Why didn’t you give me these earlier if it’s so urgent?”
Stella responded confidently. “There’s a change of plans and I just got the order from above. Things like this happen all the time. What’s with your attitude, Rosaline? You may be Mr. Holbrook’s fiancée, but now you’re here to work, so you should do your part, right?”
I knew Stella was trying to make things difficult for me, but I was already so used to these little games. Besides. I had plenty of energy after becoming Alpha. Hiding my power within the Holbrooks Manor was starting to feel suffocating, and work wasn’t the worst way to channel it.
“Of course,” I replied, sitting down to start reviewing the files.
Stella didn’t leave, though. She stayed by my side, watching me. “Remember, Rosaline–check everything carefully. Every number must be exact. One wrong number could throw off all the data.”
I shot her an impatient look. “Anything else? Can you tell me everything at once?”
“No, that’s it.”
“Leave then. Don’t you have anything else to do?”
She hesitated but eventually walked off, leaving me to get to work.
I sighed inwardly, bracing myself for a long day.
