From Sabrina in the design department to Bruce and his assistant from Montagne, the photographer for the ad shoot, the spokesperson, and even some senior executives in the company, all of them had seen the prototype of the jewelry,
In other words, any one of them could have leaked the idea.
After hanging up the phone, I turned to Caden. “Who do you think leaked it?”
Caden replied calmly, “I’ve already had Yale look into it. We should have results soon.”
I nodded, not pressing the matter further.
After finishing the dinner that Caden had brought for me, I was about to continue working, but Caden insisted on taking me home.
“You haven’t been getting enough rest lately. You need to go home and get some sleep.” His tone was firm, leaving no room for argument.
I had no choice but to follow him. If I refuse, I know Caden won’t leave either.
He just sat beside me, watching, making it impossible for me to focus on my work.
I quickly packed up and followed Caden out of the office.
As we stepped into the elevator, I pressed the button for the basement. Suddenly, the lights above flickered and made a strange buzzing noise. After a few moments, the elevator was engulfed in complete darkness.
“Aaaah!” I couldn’t help but let out a startled cry.
I’ve been afraid of the dark since I was a child.
The reason was unknown, but I’ve always had an irrational fear of it. The moment the lights went out in the elevator, that sudden surge of fear swept over me, making my body tremble uncontrollably.
I crouched down and hugged my knees, shaking all over.
Fleeting images flashed in my mind, but the pain in my head intensified, making it impossible to make sense of any of them.
“Don’t be scared,” Caden’s deep, soothing voice suddenly reached my ears.
I felt his arm around my shoulders, his warmth easing my fear. Gradually, the overwhelming sense of panic began to fade away.
Because of this, I couldn’t help but lean into his embrace, feeling an overwhelming sense of peace and safety.
“What happened?” I took a few deep breaths to calm myself, then asked.
“It’s probably just an elevator malfunction,” Caden said, pulling out his phone to shine a light around, his brow furrowed in concern.

“So what do we do now?” I pressed closer to his shoulder, my voice filled with worry.
“You don’t think we’ll be stuck here all night, do you?”
Caden’s POV
Rosaline, nestled in my arms, looked so fragile, so dependent, that my heart nearly melted.

I’d always known her to be strong and independent, but seeing this softer, more vulnerable side of her stirred something deep within me.
This version of Rosaline–gentle, tender, almost pitiable–made me hold her even tighter.
She clung to my hand, completely dependent on me.
I could smell the faint scent of her perfume, and that familiar sensation washed over me, bringing with it a rush of emotion that I couldn’t quite explain.
Rosaline and Tessa… Could they be different people?
Why did they give me the same feeling?
When I didn’t respond, Rosaline tilted her head up, her voice tinged with confusion. “Caden?”
I snapped out of my thoughts and spoke in a low voice, “I’ll call the building management and have them fix it,”
“Okay,” she whispered.
I held her hand tightly as we waited. Less than ten minutes later, the sounds of workers arriving reached our ears, and before long, the elevator was fixed.
With a sharp click, the lights turned back on, and the elevator was bathed in light again.
“Are you alright?” I glanced down at Rosaline in my arms.
Her face turned crimson as she looked at me.
In the darkness, she hadn’t realized how tightly she had been holding me, her arms wrapped around my neck as if she never wanted to let go.
She quickly released her grip, her voice soft as she spoke. “I’m sorry. I’m afraid of the dark, so…
Rosaline’s afraid of the dark too?
Something deep inside me stirred, and I looked at her with a penetrating gaze.
“Tessa’s afraid of the dark too.”
Rosaline’s POV:
Tessa?
The moment I heard Caden’s words, my heart sank.
So he had mistaken me for Tessa again?

I hated that feeling.

Pursing my lips, I was about to respond when I heard Caden’s low, husky voice. “Rosaline, are you sure you aren’t Tessa?”
“Of course not!” I shoved him away, my tone firm. “Caden, I told you clearly back then–I’m not Tessa, and I’m definitely not her replacement!”
A flash of frustration passed through Caden’s eyes, but he said nothing, simply nodding.
“Let’s go home,” he said flatly.
