At precisely 8:00 PM, the celebration banquet began.

Soft, melodic music filled the air as the host walked onto the stage with a bright smile. “Welcome, everyone, to the celebration banquet hosted by Eclipse Group. To kick things off, let’s give a warm round of applause as we invite Mr. Holbrook from Eclipse Group to deliver the opening remarks!”
Amid thunderous applause, Caden stepped onto the stage with an air of calm elegance.
The spotlight cast a golden glow over him, accentuating his regal aura. He stood tall, like a king surveying his kingdom, commanding attention effortlessly.
After clearing his throat, his crisp, magnetic voice rang out. “Thank you all for joining us tonight. Today marks the official launch of Eclipse Group’s Ice and Fire collection, a milestone that signifies our entry into the jewelry industry. This success wouldn’t have been possible without one person in particular.”
He paused, his deep gaze landing directly on me.
Then, in that same captivating voice, he continued, “She’s none other than my fiancée–Rosaline.”
The room erupted in applause, and countless envious eyes turned toward me.
However, I felt thoroughly embarrassed.
Caden, how could you say something so cheesy in front of everyone?
While a small part of me was touched, I didn’t want to encourage him further. I lowered my head slightly, feigning shyness, but his velvety voice rang out again.
“Rosaline, may I have the honor of this first dance?”
A dance?
Was he serious?
Before I could process his request, Caden descended from the stage and approached me with measured, confident steps. He extended his hand toward me, bowing slightly as he asked with impeccable manners, “May I?”
With all eyes on us, I had no choice but to accept.
“Of course.” I smiled, placing my hand in his.
Caden led me to the center of the dance floor.
As the elegant music resumed, we began to dance.
Although it was our first time dancing together, it felt as though we had been partners for years. Our movements synchronized perfectly, each step effortlessly matching the rhythm of the music.
Caden seemed particularly pleased, his sharp eyes softening as he glanced at me. “Rosaline, don’t you think we’re quite in sync?”

I didn’t want to inflate his ego, so I replied, “Not bad. If you slowed your tempo a little, we might do even better.”
Caden suddenly leaned closer, his lips brushing against my ear as he murmured, “I wasn’t just talking about
the dance.”
His warm breath tickled my cheek, sending a shiver down my spine.
This man … He was too skilled at being charming. My cheeks grew hot despite myself.
Truthfully, he wasn’t wrong.
Over the past month, we’d gone through so much together.
When Stella accused me of pushing her into the lake, I had exposed her lie with an audio recording, while Caden followed up with a damning video.
This afternoon, at the press conference, I countered Marilyn’s plagiarism claims by bringing Yura, while Caden uncovered Jeremy’s betrayal.
Our partnership felt effortless, as though we shared an unspoken connection.
I smiled slightly. “You’re right–we do make a good team.”
Caden’s expression softened further. “Since we’re such a good match, perhaps you should reconsider my earlier proposal?”
My heart skipped a beat as his deep, ocean–like gaze locked onto mine.
I knew what he was referring to.
Tessa’s name flashed through my mind like a warning.
Caden, no matter how outstanding you are, no matter how compatible we might seem, a man who still clings to another woman isn’t the right husband for me.
Forcing a faint smile, I deflected. “Don’t you think it’s inappropriate to discuss such things in this setting?”
“Is it?” he countered, raising an eyebrow.
I replied coldly, “Absolutely. And besides, I’ve already made myself clear before, haven’t I? Surely you’re not that forgetful, Mr. Holbrook.”
Caden’s face darkened instantly, his gaze tinged with frustration. He said nothing more, continuing the dance with a stony expression.
This man… So petty.
When the music ended, the banquet officially began.
Caden, being the star of the evening, was quickly surrounded by a throng of guests eager to curry favor. He responded with his usual cool detachment, polite but distant.
Meanwhile, I quietly slipped to the sidelines, retreating to a corner where I could enjoy some peace.
Sitting down. I reached for a glass of orange juice when a familiar. magnetic voice interrupted my thoughts.

“Rosaline, may I join you?”
I looked up to see Jasper standing before me.
“Suit yourself,” I said indifferently.

He sat down, turning slightly to face me. “Rosaline, about the Starplay Entertainment proposal–I didn’t get a chance to finish discussing it last time.”
“Email it to me,” I said, taking a sip of my juice. “I’ll review it when I have time.”
Suddenly, Jasper shifted the conversation. “Rosaline, can I ask you a personal question?”
I glanced at him, mildly curious. “What is it?”
He hesitated briefly, then asked, “Is your relationship with Caden really just a contractual arrangement?”
I arched an eyebrow. “What else would it be?”
My response seemed to please him greatly. He pressed on, “So, does that mean you’ve never had feelings for Caden?”
Did I have feelings for Caden?
That was a question I’d been avoiding for a while now.
Truthfully, even I wasn’t entirely sure how I felt about him.
But one thing was certain–Caden’s heart still belonged to Tessa.
I set my glass down and replied evenly, “No, I don’t have feelings for Caden. What we have is purely contractual–nothing more.”
