Chapter 112 Annie Apologizes to Rosaline
“Rosaline, repeat what you just said.”
Startled, I turned around to find Caden standing silently behind me.
Had he overheard everything I just said to Jasper?
I raised my chin slightly and offered a faint smile. “I’m sorry, but I don’t like repeating myself.”

Caden’s expression turned icy, and the air around him seemed to chill, his imposing presence making the space feel oppressively tense.
I didn’t back down, meeting his gaze with equal intensity.
At that moment, Wendy approached, her high heels clicking against the floor as she swayed toward us. She batted her lashes and asked coyly, “Caden, may I have the honor of a dance?”
After a brief silence, Caden gave a curt nod. “Sure.”
Wendy’s face lit up with disbelief, quickly replaced by excitement. “Caden, are you serious? You’ll really dance with me?”
Caden glanced at me, but I turned my face away, refusing to meet his gaze.
“Caden, I knew you cared about me,” Wendy’s voice trailed off as their footsteps faded.
Only after they were out of sight did I turn back toward the dance floor. There, under the soft lighting, Caden and Wendy were closely entwined, gracefully dancing together.
The sight made my chest tighten inexplicably.
Others around us began whispering, their eyes flicking between me and the dance floor.
Unable to bear their gazes, I stood abruptly and made my way toward the exit.
“Rosaline, where are you going?” Jasper called after me, catching up quickly.
Feeling uncharacteristically irritable, I turned to him sharply. “I’m not feeling well. I just need some time alone.”
Before he could respond, I walked out of the banquet hall by myself.
The night air was cool and quiet.
I found myself on a second–floor terrace, leaning against the railing and gazing at the starry sky. My thoughts began to drift.
Why should I care if Caden dances with Wendy?
And yet, my chest felt heavy with discomfort.
A light breeze sent a chill through me, and I decided to head back inside. Just as I turned, a woman’s voice called out, “Rosaline, there you are. I’ve been looking for you everywhere.”

Chapter 112 Annie Apologizes to Rosaline
I narrowed my eyes, immediately on guard. “What do you want?”

Annie approached, carrying a tray with two glasses of red wine. She picked up one of the glasses and extended it to me. “Ms. Sinclair, I came here tonight specifically to apologize to you.”
“Apologize?” I asked, skeptical.
She nodded earnestly. “Yes. I know I was wrong before. Bruce has already reprimanded me, and I’ve realized how awful my behavior was. I shouldn’t have done those things to you. To show my sincerity, I’d like to offer you this glass of wine as an apology.”
I glanced at the glass she held out, my tone cold. “Fine. I accept your apology, but I’m not drinking the wine.”
Annie’s expression faltered, and she quickly tried to recover. “Ms. Sinclair, I’m genuinely here to make amends. This glass of wine is my peace offering. If you don’t drink it, it’ll feel like you’re rejecting my apology and humiliating me.”
A mocking smile tugged at my lips. “And why should I care about sparing your feelings?”
“You-!” Annie’s face twisted briefly in frustration before she composed herself. Taking a deep breath, she softened her tone. “Ms. Sinclair, please. Bruce asked me to apologize to you tonight. He means so much to me, and I don’t want to lose him. Please, just drink this wine, and we can put everything behind us.”
Her pitiful act was almost convincing, but I wasn’t buying it.
“And what does any of that have to do with me?” I asked coldly.
Annie bit her lip, her eyes brimming with feigned tears. “Bruce really insisted that I earn your forgiveness. I promised him I’d make things right. Please, Ms. Sinclair, have some mercy on me. Drink this wine, and we can let bygones be bygones.”
Her dramatic performance made me curious.
What exactly is Annie up to?
I decided to play along and see where this little charade would lead.
“Fine,” I said after a moment, feigning reluctance. I reached out and took the glass from her. “If you’re so determined, I’ll accept your apology.”
Annie’s face lit up as she raised her own glass. “Thank you! Cheers!”
“Cheers,” I replied with a faint smile, lifting the glass to my nose.
But as soon as the scent reached me, my heightened Alpha senses picked up on it immediately.
My alpha’s keen senses told me that this glass of red wine was drugged!
