Queenie was left speechless by my retort. With a sharp clang, she dropped her cutleries and stormed back to her room.
I couldn’t help but smirk as I finished my breakfast under the intense glare of Eleanor.
When I stood to leave, the driver approached.
“Ms. Sinclair, Mr. Caden instructed me to take you to the company,” he said.
I thought I’d misheard him. Caden had ordered the driver to take me?
After all these days, he had finally realized that I was going to the company alone every day!
Eleanor cleared her throat and came over, giving me a scornful look. Then she turned to the driver. “Louis, take me to Apex Plaza.”
“I’m sorry, Mrs. Holbrook. Mr. Caden specifically asked me to take Ms. Sinclair… “The driver hesitated, clearly caught in the middle.
“Thank you, but I’ll go to work on my own, I replied with a smile.
I waved them off and stepped outside to hail a taxi, heading straight for Eclipse Group.
Inside the taxi, Freya asked cagerly, “Are you going to take care of that b*tch today?”
I shook my head. “It’s too easy to deal with her. I just need to make my identity clear. But I’m really curious how Caden plans to explain this to me.”
Freya growled in frustration.
Just then, the driver slammed on the brakes, and car horns blared from all directions. I looked ahead and saw a dog trembling in the middle of the intersection, frozen with fear.
The traffic jam had turned one of the drivers into a wolf, who jumped out of the car and began growling menacingly at the dog.
“Pull over!” I immediately shouted, leaping out of the taxi and rushing toward the dog.
“Get away!” I let out a sharp wave of Freya’s scent.
The driver–turned–wolf stopped in its tracks and its cars drooped submissively. It lowered its head in
respect.
“Apologies. I didn’t know it was yours.”
The wolf shifted back into human form and hurried back into the car, fleeing. I turned to the little dog. gently comforting it, just as a red sports car came speeding toward us.
There was no time to think. I scooped the dog up and leaped more than 30 feet to safety. The car screeched to a halt, sliding past me. From the driver’s seat, a woman with a fashionable appearance stuck her head out and shouted, “Crazy b*tch! Get out of the way!”
I was about to shout back, but the car had already sped off.

The dog in my arms continued to shake. I checked its legs and saw it was injured. I hurried back to the taxi and asked the driver to take me to a nearby animal clinic
The driver looked at me in surprise. “Ms. Sinclair, you-
I nodded calmly. “I grew up working on a farm. I’m quick on my feet.
The driver looked perplexed but kept driving. I stroked the dog’s fur, while Freya sarcastically commented on my tendency to get involved in things.
“Just earning some good karma for Grandpa and the Shadow Pack. Maybe the Moon Goddess will bless us
more.”
I wasn’t just acting out of impulse. 1 genuinely cared for animals. I’d even set up a special area at Shadow Pack Manor to care for strays.
At the animal clinic. I spent quite a bit of time taking care of the dog. I was already running late for work, so I called Caden
“What’s up?” His voice came through the phone, low and clear.
“I’m running a little late. I’ve got some things to take care of, so I won’t be in until later, I explained.
“Don’t bother telling me about such small matters,” he said curtly and hung up before I could say anything else.
I rolled my eyes. This guy really was cold as ice, not even bothering to say a word to her.
Oh well. At least I’d already gotten permission from him.
I had the vet do a thorough checkup for the dog and thankfully, it was just some superficial scratches, nothing serious,
“Can it stay for observation?” I still wasn’t entirely at ease. I paid the vet 2,000 dollars and left the dog at the clinic, planning to pick it up in a few days once it was better and take it back to the Shadow Pack’s animal
sanctuary.
It was almost 11 AM by the time I finished everything and rushed over to Eclipse Group.
“Hey! You’re late! Why don’t you come in after work hours?” she snapped.
“I got delayed with something,” I replied calmly.
“Is that so?” Stella scoffed, her eyes narrowing in sarcasm. “Let me ask you, Rosaline. Did you finish the work from last night? How dare you skip work, do you think you’re the Luna of Eclipse Pack?”
I could feel my temper flare at her words. She had brought it up, so now I had every right to reply.
I retorted, “First, being late isn’t skipping work. Second, I did ask for time off, so it’s not really late.”
She jabbed a finger in my direction. “How dare you make excuses? You never asked me for time off! You’re fired!”
I calmly pushed her hand aside, unable to resist the temptation to mock her. “I got permission from Mr.

Everyone in the office was watching us now, and it was clear that Stella was losing control. She grabbed my arm and started dragging me toward Caden’s office.
“You’re lying! We’re going to see Mr. Holbrook and clear this up right now!”
I grinned. “Fine with me. Let’s settle this once and for all.”
This was the perfect chance to settle the score for last night.
