I lifted my gaze to meet Caden’s. Our eyes locked, and an unspoken tension sparked between us, something inexplicable stirring in my heart.
“Thank you.” I reached out and took the plush kitten from him.
The soft fur, originally pure white, was now stained with Caden’s blood–deep crimson patches marring its once–pristine coat.
The moment I took the kitten, Caden let out a soft chuckle.
“You’re not mad anymore, are you?” he murmured, pulling me into his arms. His deep, husky voice brushed against my car. “Every word I said to you yesterday was true. Will you believe me?”
I offered a faint smile, but I neither confirmed nor denied his words.
“Let go of me first.” I gently pushed against his chest.
“You smiled. Doesn’t that mean you’re not mad anymore?” Caden’s voice was low, rough with emotion.
“Does it even matter whether I’m mad or not?” I absentmindedly stroked the kitten in my hands.
“It matters. A lot.” Caden’s gaze bore into mine, his tone solemn.
I pressed my lips together but said nothing.
After a brief silence, Caden asked, “What exactly happened in the restroom earlier?”
“Oh, nothing much. Annie doesn’t like me, so she got two people to try and kidnap me,” I replied
nonchalantly.
Caden furrowed his brows. “So those two men … You did that to them?”
I smiled. “I did fight back. But honestly, they were just too stupid.”
Caden didn’t seem entirely convinced. His eyes narrowed slightly as he studied me, a probing look sweeping over me from head to toe.
Feeling slightly unnerved under his scrutiny, I stood up. “Let’s go. The auction isn’t over yet, is it?”
Since Caden had already bid on the kitten, I figured I might as well find something else to bid on.
After all, as the secret owner of Loe Studio, I ought to show some support for my brand.
But just as I was about to take a step, Caden reached out and grabbed my arm.
Caught off guard, I stumbled and landed right on his lap.
The position was undeniably intimate.
I tried to stand, but his strong, well–defined hands pressed firmly on my shoulders, keeping me in place.
His husky voice murmured against my ear, “Rosaline, you feel something for me. Why won’t you admit it?”

Caden’s gaze darkened. “Why won’t you face your feelings?”
My body tensed. I frowned. “I don’t … ”
Before I could finish, Caden tilted his head down, and his lips crashed onto mine.
His kiss was cool yet searing, sending my heart into a frenzied rhythm.

The temperature in the lounge seemed to rise, the air thick with something heady and overwhelming.
“Rosaline,” he breathed against my lips, his deep eyes filled with unmistakable desire. “Stop pushing me away.”
Reality snapped back into focus. I realized I hadn’t even tried to push him away.
Taking in a sharp breath, I steadied myself, glaring at him. “Caden, don’t go too far! Until I give you an answer, you’re not allowed to do that again!”
Caden smirked slightly. “Not allowed to do what?”
“What you just did,” I snapped.
He let out a low chuckle. “What exactly did I do?”
The heated memory of the kiss flashed through my mind. Flustered and furious, I punched his chest. “Shut up!”
Caden easily caught my hand, bringing it to his lips and tracing gentle circles against my skin. “Rosaline,” he murmured, “I’ll be waiting for your answer.”
Ugh! He’s so infuriating!
