Chapter 158 We’ll Jump
If the plane crashed, no one would survive.
We were too high, over 32,800 feet. Even if I transformed into Freya, it might not save me from plummeting into the vast ocean below.
I told myself to stay calm, but fear was already coursing through my entire body.

For the first time, I looked at the man beside me with helplessness in my eyes. “Caden, what do we do?”
“Don’t be afraid.” Caden gripped my hand tightly. “We’ll be fine.”
Then, making a decisive call, he turned to the pilot. “Stay calm. Try to stabilize the plane as much as possible. Begin descending now. Once we reach a suitable altitude, we’ll jump.”
The pilot nodded, his voice trembling slightly. “I’ll do my best.”
Caden’s private jet was custom–built and equipped with parachutes–designed for emergency situations like this.
He quickly directed the other crew members to retrieve the parachutes and prepare for an emergency jump.
“Caden, do we really have to jump?”
I leaned against him, my face pale with dread.
I was terrified.
I had been afraid of heights since childhood, and I never imagined I would face a situation like this.
If the plane really went down … falling from this height …
I couldn’t even let myself think about it.
“Rosaline, listen to me. The plane is out of control–we have no choice but to jump.” Caden said, his voice steady but serious.
“But… I’m scared … I have a fear of heights… ” I murmured.
“Don’t be afraid. I’ll protect you.” His deep, reassuring voice carried an unshakable certainty.
The situation was growing more critical by the second. Caden remained calm, directing the pilot to lower the altitude and gradually slow down.
“It’s time.” Caden glanced at the instruments–the plane’s altitude and speed had finally reached suitable for jumping.
But the plane was shaking more violently than ever.
It wouldn’t hold much longer. It was going to crash and explode at any moment!

“Jump! Now!” The cabin door swung open, and Caden, his face cold and composed, ordered the crew members to strap on their parachutes and jump one by one.

Within moments, only three of us remained–Caden, the pilot, and me.
“Mr. Holbrook, Ms. Sinclair, you have to jump now!” The pilot wiped the sweat from his forehead as he made the final adjustments to the plane’s settings.
Caden furrowed his brows and pulled the pilot toward the door. “You first–go!”
The pilot gave Caden a deep, grateful look. “Mr. Holbrook, Ms. Sinclair… take care.”
With those parting words, he leaped from the plane, disappearing into the sky within seconds.
“Rosaline, get ready.” Caden secured the parachute to both of us, his strong arms holding me tightly.
As I looked down from this dizzying height, my mind went blank.
A crippling, overwhelming fear spread through every inch of my body.
“Caden… I’m scared…”
“Close your eyes. I’ll count to three. We’ll jump together.” His low voice murmured against my ear.
I took a deep breath, bracing myself. Then, clinging to Caden with all my strength, I shut my eyes and leaped with him into the vast, endless sky.
“Ahhh!!!”
A terrifying weightlessness hit me as we plummeted downward at an alarming speed. I couldn’t stop myself -I lost control and shifted into my wolf form.
Freya was no better off than I was, letting out a panicked whimper in midair.
Caden shifted as well, his white wolf form swiftly lunging toward Freya and wrapping around her.
Two wolves, entangled in freefall.
Before long, we reached the critical altitude for deploying the parachute. Caden shifted back into human form. Thankfully, our parachutes had stayed securely strapped to our backs.
“Rosaline, shift back–your wolf form is too heavy. The parachute won’t hold.”
Hearing his command, I had no choice but to transform back into my human form.
But the terror of free–falling from such a height was paralyzing. I couldn’t even open my eyes–I could only cling desperately to Caden.
“Rosaline, I’m opening the parachute! Hold onto me tight!”
With the deep, steady sound of his voice, the parachute deployed.
The gut–wrenching sensation of falling finally eased. I let out a shaky breath, my chest rising and falling as I tried to calm myself.
“It’s over. We’re good.” Caden’s voice, husky and low, sounded close to my ear.
I forced my eyes open. All around us, nothing but endless clouds stretched in every direction.
