Rosaline’s POV:
Caden’s magnetic voice seemed to be able to drive away all the fatigue in my body.
I just need to hold on a little longer. Once we reach the island, we can rest properly.
As the island drew closer, the tension in my heart began to case.
Suddenly, a huge wave came crashing toward us.
Caden and I were pushed back by the wave.
“Caden, there’s no wind around here. Where did that wave come from?” I asked in confusion.
Caden answered in a cold and serious tone, “Rosaline, get back now!”
“What?” I looked closely and saw a dark figure swimming toward us.
This figure must be what caused the wave just now.
I felt something caught in my heart. What was that?
A shark?
Oh my god, how unlucky are we?
At this rate, Caden and I might really meet our end in the sea!
I tried squinting to take another look, and it didn’t seem to be a shark at all.

It was a kind of fish that I had never seen before. I didn’t know whether it would attack humans or not.
“Caden, what kind of fish is that?” I could not look away from the figure. I felt like my heart was going to jump into my throat.
Caden furrowed his brows and replied, “I don’t know.”
He took out a blade from his backpack and cut the rope that connected our life jackets. He yelled, “Rosaline, you need to go now. Swim over there as fast as you can!”
“No, we will face this together.” I refused to let him face the unknown alone.
Caden transformed into a white wolf and shielded me with his body.
Just then, the giant fish launched its first attack.
As it lunged toward us, the white wolf did not hesitate to put its body between the fish and me.
In the middle of the ocean, the white wolf fought ferociously with its teeth and claws.
However, being in the water drastically reduced the white wolf’s effectiveness.
I summoned Freya without hesitation, joining the white wolf in battling the fish.

As we stayed afloat, I stared at the fish’s lifeless body and shuddered.
“Caden, it’s dead… “I began.
However, it seemed like Caden was not moving as well. He did not answer me.
My heart skipped a beat, and I swam toward him.
I immediately saw that Caden’s face was covered in blood.
“Caden, are you okay?” My heart sank as I asked.
Caden had lost so much blood. Would he be fine?
An unfamiliar pain washed over me, engulfing my whole body.
Caden had risked everything to save me once again.
“I’m fine,” Caden gasped.
His voice was like music to my ears, instantly vanquishing the sadness in my heart.
He was okay, and that was all that mattered.
“But you are covered in blood …” I held Caden tightly and said.
Caden flashed a smile at me and said gently, “That’s the blood of the fish, splattered on my face. Rosie, I am really happy that you’re so concerned about me.”
I glared at him and complained, “Who cares that much about you? Anyway, let me help you clean the blood.”
I washed Caden’s face with seawater.
It was at this moment that I noticed Caden’s unusually pale face.
It seemed that his arm was bleeding as well.
“What’s wrong with your arm? That doesn’t look like fish blood,” I asked him dreadfully and that sense of dread made me tear up again.
Caden shook his head and replied, “It’s nothing. We need to go now. We are not safe here.”
“Let me take a look,” I insisted.
I checked his arm and saw that his condition was dire.
His previous wound on his arm had reopened.

I reached out and touched his forehead. It almost scalded my skin.

I had to get Caden to the island now and treat his wound with a bandage.
“Caden, hang in there.” I could feel that his condition was worsening rapidly.
Caden pursed his pale lips and beads of sweat were forming on his forehead. He gasped, “Rosie, I’m sorry for making you worry.”
Something tugged at my heart upon hearing that. He had wasted too much of his strength when he battled the fish just now.
Obviously, he didn’t tell me about his wounds to avoid worrying me.
At this point, he was having a fever because of the inflammation. I knew I could not delay treating him any further, so I held Caden close to me with one arm, grabbed our life jackets with the other, and swam toward the island with conviction.
Caden was getting weaker and weaker by my side.
I was getting anxious. I kept calling out to him, “Caden, how are you feeling?”
Caden gradually went still.
I was startled, so I quickly shook his arms. “Caden, wake up! Don’t lose consciousness now!”
Caden managed to muster the last of his strength as he said faintly, “Rosie, I’m sorry. I may … may not be able to protect you anymore.”
