Counterback of the Despised Luna
Chapter 17 A Familiar Scent.

I was a little surprised. I had expected Caden to defend me. Stella had been with Eclipse Group for years,
I was just an outsider who Caden didn’t care for.
while
Stella looked at me and reluctantly muttered, Tm sorry”
Did that look like an apology? I deliberately rubbed my car, pretending I hadn’t heard her. “What did you say? I didn’t catch that.”
Stella was forced to raise her voice a little. I’m sorry!”
“I don’t want to see this happen again!” Caden’s cold voice carried an undeniable authority, Stella shuddered involuntarily.
As we stepped into the hallway after leaving the CEO’s office, Stella shot me a malicious glare.
She obviously hadn’t expected me, a lowly Omega, to escape from the wolfsbane warehouse and come out unscathed.
I flashed her a smile as she stormed off in resentment.
At the end of the workday. I was about to hail a cab when a black Rolls–Royce smoothly pulled up beside
me
It was Caden’s car again.
“Get in.” Caden rolled down the window, his gaze cold and commanding.
I stepped back. “It’s fine, I’ll grab a cab myself.”
Caden frowned, then opened the door and stepped out, towering over me. “It’s hard to get a taxi at this hour. I don’t want to have to pick you up from the office in the middle of the night to take care of you again.”
He had to bring up that topic again. That thick–headed wolf. I rolled my eyes in frustration. “It’s all your fault!”
Caden paused, looking at me in confusion. “What does last night have to do with me?”
“You’re going to be Alpha of Eclipse Pack, and you don’t realize Stella has a thing for you?” I raised an eyebrow. “You underestimated a woman’s jealousy. She sees me as her rival, so of course she’ll do everything. she can to get rid of me.”
“Stella… has feelings for me?” Caden seemed surprised.
Caden’s POV:
I frowned, clearly not having seen this coming.
I was always oblivious when it came to matters of the heart. Over the years, there were plenty of women fighting over me. I was aware of it, but in my mind, I had always reserved a special place for the girl I knew in my childhood. Other women never really caught my attention.
However, Rosaline’s question caught me off guard, especially considering how vulnerable and dependent

I wanted to tease her a little suddenly. I raised an eyebrow. “What? Are you jealous?”
You’re sick!” Rosaline immediately flushed with anger, just as I expected. She shot me an angry look and turned to walk away. But before she could leave, I grabbed her by the arm and pulled her back.
I pushed her into the car. She seemed taken aback by my sudden change in behavior, but I didn’t give her at chance to protest. I slid into the driver’s seat and locked the doors. “I promised Grandpa I’d make sure you’re safe for the next three months. So sit still.”
My words made her understand where I stood. She nodded in silence and leaned back into her seat.
As much as she didn’t want to, she had to respect the Shadow and Eclipse’s Alphas. Our agreement lasted three months, and after that, we’d each go our separate ways.
But neither of us would have it easy for these three months.
Rosaline’s POV:
At first, I thought three months would be easy to get through, but now I realize how naïve I was.
Suddenly, a large hand with defined knuckles reached over my chest.
“What are you doing?!” I jumped in surprise, nearly shifting into Freya and biting him.
Caden shifted slightly as he gently pulled me into his arms to buckle my seatbelt.
“You?”
His breath brushed against my ear, sending a strange, tingling sensation through me that was oddly pleasant
Caden’s expression remained calm. I’m just helping you with your seatbelt.
“I can do it myself.”
The position felt too intimate and I held his hand down. I’m annoyed at myself for letting my thoughts wander and have completely forgotten to buckle my seatbelt.
The warmth of his hand on mine made my heart race, and I felt a flush creep up my neck.
What was this feeling? I had never felt this way before.
I stared at him as he withdrew his hand, straightened up in his seat, and started the car. For a moment, there was a softness in his expression that caught me off guard.
His mood was off, and the small space between us seemed to fill with an odd tension. The air was thick with the scent of both of us, and it made my head spin.
I heard Freya, deep within my soul, give a soft sigh.
“Mmm, I like the smell of this man,” she murmured.
Surprised, I lifted my gaze to find Caden turned slightly toward me. His deep, intense eyes were fixed on
mine.
“Rosaline… have you ever been kidnapped?” He asked with a deep voice.
