Chapter 38 A Misunderstanding That Never Existed.
Rosaline’s POV:

The two most famous hackers on the entire Werewolf Continent were Anthony and Wilda.
Anthony was a master of his craft, having stunned the world multiple times with his skills. Wilda, on the other hand, was even more mysterious. Rumor had it that she was Anthony’s mentor.
I’m not one to brag, but yes, I am the mysterious Wild
Well, I am not Anthony’s mentor. Once, Anthony attempted to hack into my Starplay Entertainment system. I caught him in the act and shut him down immediately.
We didn’t exactly hit it off at first, but after that, we became close friends who respected each other’s
Talents.
“Wilda, it’s the middle of the night! Don’t you want people to sleep?” Anthony soon replied to my message.
“Just look into it, will you? Quit complaining!” Bantering back and forth had become our default mode of communication.
Anthony groaned in frustration. “This tiny bit of info? Wilda, you could dig this up yourself in five
minutes. Why do you even need me for this?”
I sent him an eye–roll emoji. Tm lazy. Hurry up!”
Ten minutes later, Anthony sent me the detailed information on Queenie.
Queenie was a child adopted by Caden’s aunt from an orphanage, which meant she wasn’t related to Caden by blood.
I see now.
So Queenie really does have feelings for Caden. No wonder she’s been giving me, the “country bumpkin fiancee, such a hard time.
This whole mess with the Eclipse Pack runs deeper than I thought. Everyone who likes Caden seems to see me as their target.
Agreeing to my grandfather’s three–month engagement arrangement had been a bit rash.
Now, all I can do is hope these three months pass quickly. Once I break off the engagement with Caden, this will all be over.
I can return to being the Alpha of Shadow Pack and live my carefree life again.
This had been the most unpleasant weekend of my life, but thankfully, it was finally over.
The next morning. I arrived at Eclipse Group bright and early.
Seated at my desk, I was going over documents related to the Lady Couture collaboration project when suddenly bang!

I looked up “What are you doing?

Standing over me, Stella glared down with an air of superiority and ordered, “Input all this data. I want it
done before noon.”
I glanced at the stack of documents. It was practically mountain.
Finish it before noon? Was she kidding?
In a calm tone, I replied, “Sorry, but I’m responsible for the Lady Couture collaboration project, and these documents have nothing to do with that. You should find someone else to handle this.”
Stella’s face darkened, and she snapped impatiently, “Told you to do it, so just do it! Can’t you see how busy everyone else is?”
I was speechless,
Do I look like I’m sitting here twiddling my thumbs?
Clearing my throat, I smiled faintly and said, “Mr. Holbrook specifically told me to focus on the Lady Couture project. Anything unrelated to it isn’t part of my job.”
Stella’s expression turned sour, and just as she was about to argue further, the phone on my desk began ringing.
I glanced down at the caller ID. It was an internal line–extension “888.”
That was Caden’s direct line.
I picked up the receiver in front of Stella. “Hello, this is Rosaline from the secretary department.”
On the other end of the line came Caden’s cold, crisp voice. “Bring me a cup of coffee.”
I froze. Caden wants me to bring him coffee, huh? What was this about?
Before I could even respond, the line went dead, leaving me with the sound of the dial tone.
Fine. If he wants coffee, I’ll bring him coffee.
I hung up, stood, and looked at Stella with a perfectly straight face. “Ms. Dixon, you heard it yourself. Mr. Holbrook has asked me to bring him coffee. You’ll have to find someone else for these documents.”
As I spoke, I pushed the stack of papers back toward her “Now, if you’ll excuse me.”
“Urgh!” Stella was so furious she nearly exploded.
I made my way to the coffee lounge, brewed a latte, and headed straight for the CEO’s office.
Standing in front of the door, I couldn’t help but picture Caden’s sharp, handsome face. For some reason, my heart skipped a beat.
Taking a deep breath, I knocked on the door, and Caden’s cool voice called out from within, “Come in.”
I pushed the door open, walked straight up to Caden, and set the coffee down on his desk. “Your coffee,”

Caden’s POV
Last night, I had too much to drink, and in my hazy stale, I thought I saw Tessa.
She was so vivid, so real, that for a moment, I truly believed my Tessa had returned.
But when I woke up this morning, it was Queenie sitting by my bedside.
Queenie claimed she was the one who had brought me back to my room last night.
But Queenie was clearly not Tessa.
Could it all have been a dream?
But why did the dream feel so real?

“Your coffee is here. If there’s nothing else, I’ll be going now.” Standing under my gaze, Rosaline’s expression remained calm as she spoke.
She was about to turn and leave when, as if suddenly remembering something, she stopped. Reaching into. her pocket, she pulled out a small object and handed it to me. “Oh, right. This is yours. I’m returning it.”
Looking down, I saw it was a button. And in that instant her hand’s distinct fragrance reached me.
It was the same scent from last night. Exactly the same
My heart leaped. Dropping the button, I grabbed Rosaline’s hand.
Suppressing the surge of emotion inside me, I asked softly, “Are… are you Tessa?”
