Counterback of the Despised Euna
Chapter 48 Investigating Her
Caden’s POV
As I watched her slender figure. I pulled out my phone and dialed Yale’s number.
Find everything you can about Rosaline. I want all the details.”
“Rosaline?” Yale sourided surprised. “You’re investigating your Lama?”
I frowned. “She’s not my Lama yet. Do you have a problem with that?”
“No, Mr. Holbrook. I’ll get on it right away.” Yale replied his tone hurried as he rushed off.
An hour later, Yale entered the room, his expression uneasy. “Mr. Holbrook, I’ve looked into it.”
“Well?” I asked, growing impatient.
Yale handed me the file. “This is all I could find.”
I took the file and scanned it. The information was minimal, just a few lines of text.
Rosaline, female, 20 years old, residing on the outskirts of Frostmoore.”

Beyond that, there was nothing–no details about her family, education, or anything else that could provide insight into her background:
“Is this all?” I asked, narrowing my eyes. “What about the rest?”
Yale scratched his head in embarrassment. “Sorry, Mr. Holbrook. I couldn’t find any more details.”
“You’re dismissed,” I said, adjusting my tie and feeling the irritation build up.
The sparse details in my hands were unsettling. Even my Beta couldn’t uncover anything significant about Rosaline. It made me realize that my fiancée was far more complex than I had assumed.
I decided it was time to consult the Alpha of the Eclipse Pack, my grandfather.
Since Rosaline was his choice, he would surely have more insight into her background.
I couldn’t wait to head over to Holbrook Manor, the old mansion where Grandpa was busy tending to the garden.
When he saw me, Mr. Richard raised an eyebrow, slightly surprised. “Caden, shouldn’t you be at the company right now? What brings you here to visit me?”
“Grandpa, I came by to check on you. How are you doing?” I took the watering can from his hand and began helping with the flowers.
“Tm,doing well. Grandpa glanced at me, raising an eyebrow. “What brings you here today?”
“Grandpa, could you tell me who Rosaline really is?” I asked before I could stop myself.
Grandpa turned his head, a smile playing on his lips. “Ah, so you’ve figured it out, have you?”

I shook my head. “I’m just curious; she’s not exactly what I expected”

“The mysteries of late are not something that can be revealed easily. You’ll have to discover them on your own.” Grandpa replied with pride. “Even though I’m getting old, my mind is sharp, and I would never choose the wrong Luna for you.”
“I understand, Grandpa.” Seeing how he was being so secretive and unwilling to say more, I didn’t press further. I knew him well enough to recognize that if he didn’t want to discuss something, no matter what I did, he wouldn’t open up.
As I left the old mansion, a weight settled heavily on my chest.
If it weren’t for Tessa, I might have considered giving Rosaline a chance.
After all, a girl like Rosaline–beautiful, smart, confiden, capable, and daring–was undeniably appealing.
But my heart already belonged to Tessa.
In that room, I had made a promise to her. I had promised that I would marry her.
My Luna could only be Tessa.
Rosaline’s POV:
As the night deepened, the office gradually emptied, with colleagues leaving in small groups. Yet, I remained at my desk, focused on my work.
Before I knew it, I was the last one left in the office.
I kept my eyes fixed on the computer screen, engrossed in the report I was reviewing, when suddenly, a shadow fell across the light, obscuring my view.
“Who’s there?” I asked, my voice cautious.
Before me stood Caden, his handsome face unmistakable.
He wore a white shirt, the sleeves casually rolled up, and the light falling on him gave him a radiant glow, almost as if he were bathed in gold. His presence was both striking and regal. Despite everything, I couldn’t deny how impressive he was. No wonder Grandpa had chosen him for me.
“Why are you here, Caden?” I asked, confusion in my voice.
He gave a small smirk, his lips forming a more serious expression. “I came to check on the progress of ‘Ice and Fire,” he replied.
I couldn’t help but feel something was off. While Lady Couture was certainly a major project for the design department, it wasn’t the core of Eclipse Group’s business. There were far more significant projects to
focus on.
Usually, it was up to the subordinates to keep Caden updated on these matters.
So, why was he here in the secretariat at this late hour, overseeing such a relatively minor project?
The whole situation felt strange.

Since Caden had inquired, I could only respond honesty, “Everything is proceeding well. Right now. I’m going over the manpower and financial reports needed for the mass production of Ice and Fire,”
“Is that so? Let me see, Caden replied in a calm tone.
“Sure.” I directed his attention to the computer screen and added, “This is the report provided by the production department. I haven’t completed the review yet.”
“Mm.” Caden made a sound as he passed by the desk and positioned himself behind me.
He leaned over, placing one hand on the table while the other, warm and large, gently rested on my back. pointing at the screen. “You can claborate here.”
His close proximity carried a faint scent of tobacco, inexplicably making my heart race.
The nervous part of me–Freya–began to feel a flutter again, urging me to give in to the tension, but 1 quieted her with a sharp internal reprimand.
“I’ll have the production departme
add the details tomorrow,” I said, turning around.
To my surprise, I found myself staring directly into Caden’s intense, unreadable gaze.
My face heated up, and I quickly averted my eyes. “If there’s nothing else, I’ll continue reviewing
“It’s getting late. We can pick this up tomorrow,” Caden said. “Let me drive you home.”
I quickly declined, “I prefer not to leave things unfinished.”
“Understood,” Caden nodded, but he didn’t seem to plan on leaving just yet.
“You’re not planning to supervise me here, are you?” I asked, feeling uncomfortable with his lingering
presence.
Caden raised an eyebrow, but his voice remained professional. “I’ll stay to make any necessary corrections if something comes up.”
Correction?
I tugged at the corner of my mouth, thinking to myself with the CEO of Eclipse Group standing so close to me in the office this late at night, how could I possibly focus on work?
I quickly powered down the computer. “Forget it, I’ll handle the review tomorrow!”
Caden straightened his tall frame and fixed me with a smile that didn’t quite reach his eyes. “Didn’t you say that today’s tasks should be finished today?”
I swiftly grabbed my bag from the table, stood up, and made my way toward the door. “I’m exhausted, I muttered.
Caden let out a quiet chuckle, then took a step forward with his long legs, following me. “I’ll go with you.” I was at a loss for words.
We arrived at the underground parking lot, and as Caden went to unlock the car, a figure suddenly rushed forward and grabbed his arm. “Caden, you are finally here!”
