Chapter 60 Disturbance

I shut off the video, a sense of frustration rising within me

Finished

It was clear I needed to have a conversation with Jasper. As a public figure, his comments were beyond

inappropri

To announce so openly that he didn’t need a destined mate, to dismiss the Moon Goddess blessingit was hard to believe he’d made that choice while enduring such painful emotions

My mind was still spinning when a cold, firmy voice cut through the silence

Ms. Sinclair, come to my office. And bring the Ice and Fire proposal while you’re at it.”

I looked up and saw Caden standing there. I hadn’t realized he’d approached me

Alright.” I grabbed the proposal and followed him to his office

He shut the door behind us with ease, then sank into the couch. I thought I told you to sleep in a bit longer?”

A warmth spread through me at his concern, and I gave him a small smile. The project is at a crucial point. I didn’t want your kindness to delay things.”

He nodded and gestured to the seat next to him. “Sit down.”

I sat beside him, leaving some space between us. I handed him the proposal. I finished refining it last night.”

Before I could continue, his deep voice interrupted. Did you see the news?”

The news

Had he noticed me watching Jasper’s interview video earlier

I did. Why?I asked, trying to keep my tone casual

Caden’s brow furrowed as his voice grew colder. Jasper already has someone he loves. So, don’t get any ideas about him. Know your place.”

Get ideas about Jasper

What was Caden suggesting

It was obvious Jasper was the one who had ideas about me

After a brief pause, I straightened up and said, Caden, please don’t assume things. Whether it’s Ryan or Jasper, there’s no connection between us like you think.”

That’s for the best, Caden replied, a small smile forming at the corners of his mouth. Then, slowly, he leaned closer, his gaze intense. Rosie, remember, you’re my fiancée.”

Rosie

I froze, caught off guard. But before I could react, Caden’s handsome face loomed even closer

Chapter 60 Disturbance

I instinctively pulled back, but he didn’t stop

His lips were nearly on mine, and my heart began to race

Caden!A voice suddenly broke through the air, cutting the tension between us

I quickly pushed him away, cursing myself for being so easily caught off guard

Why hadn’t I just pulled back

Freya’s mocking voice echoed in my mind

Caught by his looks, Alpha? She giggled

Finished

I muttered under my breath, irritated with Freya. I looked up to find the unexpected intruder. It was Queenie

A frown creased my face. What trouble was Queenie up to now

She walked in confidently, her heels clicking with each step. She shot me a glare before turning her attention to Caden. With a smile, she asked, Caden, I hope I’m not interrupting anything.”

Caden raised an eyebrow and glanced at her with mild annoyance. What brings you here?”

I brought you some ointment, Caden. It works wonders,” Queenie said, pulling a tube from her bag and offering it to him

I’m good, thanks,Caden replied, dismissing her offer with a quick wave. I already have some.”

I couldn’t help but feel a bit amused when I saw the disappointment flash in Queenie’s eyes

Queenie really had no boundaries. She had come here to stir things up, and I was more than happy to add to the drama

Caden only uses the ointment I get him, right, honey?I teased, giving him a playful smile

He simply muttered an uninterested Mhm.”

All the color drained from Queenie’s face, but as always, she quickly lowered her gaze and put on a sad, helpless expression

Rosie, are you still upset with me? You must’ve gotten it all wrong. It was my aunt who insisted on coming. to see you yesterday. I tried to stop her, but she’s just worried. Caden was hurt, after all, and it was to protect you. You know how that goes. Please don’t stay mad at me.”

I almost had to give her a round of applause for how smoothly she had shifted blame

I scoffed. Really? But wasn’t it you who told your aunt about Caden’s injury in the first place?”

I didn’t…

Queenie bit her lip, about to argue, but Caden cut her off

Enough, Queenie. Get back to school. And next time, don’t come to the office unless it’s important.”

His tone was cold and there was no room for negotiation

Chapter 60 Disturbance

Queenie hesitated, clearly reluctant to leave. Caden, I came all this way to bring you the ointment

I interrupted her, Didn’t you hear? Caden doesn’t need your help with his injury. He’d rather you focus on your studies and keep your thoughts in check”

Queenie’s face faltered for a moment before she quickly looked down. Til go now, Caden. You should keep the ointment. It might be useful later.”

She placed the tub of cream on the table and began to leave

I glanced at the bottle before turning to Caden. That’s from your cousin. Are you just going to leave it there?”

It’s not needed.Caden replied flatly. Without a second thought, he grabbed the ointment and tossed it into

the bin

I blinked in surprise. Why would you throw it away?”

You said I only use the one you get for me,” Caden said, his tone indifferent

Though Queenie didn’t turn around, I noticed the tremor in her shoulders, as if she were fighting to hold back her frustration
