Chapter 68 Am I That Bad?
I sneaked a glance at Caden. His chiseled face remained expressions as his errong hands gripped the steering wheel. His deep eyes stared straigla shed, fully focused on driving
Neither of us said a word. The small space in the car was filled with an almost suffocating silence
I closed my eyes. The exhaustion from the high–intensity work over the past few days was draining
Just as I was about to drift off, Caden’s magnetic voice broke the silence. “Konsaline, am I really that bad?
“Huh?” I opened my eyes in confusion
Caden turned his head and gave me a piercing look. “Am I petty and bad–tempered?”
Oh no. He heard everything I had said to Grandpa earlier. Awkward
1 sighed and rubbed my forehead,
“Caden, do you make a habit of eavesdropping on other people’s phone calls?
He frowned. “And you make a habit of talking behind people’s backs?”
“Talking behind people’s backs?” I snapped, glaring at him. “Everything I said was true though:
Caden’s expression darkened. “So, I’m not better than Jasper in any way?”
I was speechless.
Caden had such a great imagination. How did this have anything to do with Jasper?
“There’s nothing I can do about it if that’s what you insist on believing.” I said irritably.
Caden slammed his left hand on the steering wheel with a loud thud. “Rosaline, you’d better remember your place.”
Before he could finish, the car suddenly veered off course. Caden hit the brakes hard, but the vehicle still skidded into the guardrail.
Screech!
份
The tires screeched against the pavement as I jolted forward, my head nearly hitting the windshield.
“What happened?” I asked, rubbing my forehead.
Caden’s face was like a thundercloud. He didn’t answer, simply got out of the car to inspect the damage.
Through the rain–speckled window, I saw him crouch to check the vehicle. The downpour soaked him. instantly, his tall figure now drenched and looking completely disheveled.
Feeling a pang of guilt, I grabbed an umbrella from the glove compartment and got out of the car, holding
it over his head.
Caden glanced at me with a frown. “Why did you come out?”

soon I was drenched too.
Caden took the umbrella from my hand and tilted it toward me, shielding me more than himself.
The umbrella was too small for two people and I moved closer to Caden.
Finished
The rain had drenched me completely. Water dripped from the ends of my hair, trickling down my face, while my white dress clung tightly to my body.
Caden was stunned at the sight and he suddenly wrapped an arm around my waist, pulling me closer.
Something
wine felt ofl. His deep eyes burned with an intense flame, a stark contrast to his usually cold gaze. It was a fire that could overwhelm someone completely.
“Alpha, I’m ready. If he makes a move, I’ll…” Freya’s voice echoed in my mind.
I took a deep breath and pushed against his chest. “Caden, stop this!” I said firmly.
The night was still and the sound of rain hitting the umbrella was loud in the silence.
My resistance made Caden’s embrace falter. He let go and stepped back.
After a pause, he asked coldly. “Is it because of Jasper? Am I really not any better to him?”
It’s Jasper again. What is going on in Jasper’s mind?
“Caden, why do you keep dragging Jasper into this? Are you, the future Alpha of Eclipse Pack, that insecure?”
With that, I turned and got back into the car, leaving him alone in the rain.
By the following afternoon, it was time for the scheduled rehearsal with Annie and Jasper.
The session was set at the Eclipse Group’s studio.
When I arrived, Jasper was already there, waiting. However, Annie was nowhere to be seen.
“Rosaline. Jasper came over and greeted me.
“You’re early,” I said, glancing at my watch. “There are still ten minutes until we start. Annie hasn’t arrived yet. Please wait a little longer.”
Jasper nodded and added, “By the way, I looked into the matter you asked about yesterday.”
“You mean you’ve found the person who took those photos?” My expression turned serious.
“Who is it?”
“It’s Lilian. Do you know her?” Jasper asked, his eyes narrowing slightly.
I knew it.
My face darkened slightly.

Though I had no personal grudge against Lilian, her loyalty to Wendy likely meant she had taken the photos to curry favor and handed them over to cause trouble.
No wonder Caden received those photos. It had to be Wendy stirring things up, trying to make him ” misunderstand my relationship with Jasper.
“Rosaline, do you need me to handle this?” Jasper asked, his tone calm but serious.
1 shook my head. “It’s fine. I’ll deal with it myself”
I could handle small matters like this myself.
At exactly 2 o’clock. Annie arrived with her heels clicking against the floor.
Bruce was here with her.
“Am I late?” Annie asked with a sultry smile.
“Right on time,” I replied as I led Annie over to meet Jasper.
“Let me introduce you to your co–star, Annie. And this–well, he needs no introduction. The renowned actor Jasper Sullivan.”
Annie greeted Jasper with an enthusiastic hug, I’ve heard so much about you, Jasper. You’re even more handsome in person. Meeting you is a dream come true.”
Jasper smiled politely. Looking forward to working with you.”
“Let’s get started, then,” I said, motioning for the photographer. However, the room fell silent suddenly.
“Mr. Holbrook, what brings you here?” the photographer asked respectfully, looking toward the door.
I turned to see a tall, striking figure standing at the entrance–it was Caden.
What was Caden doing here?
