Chapter 72 The Homey Caden
Finished
Caden stond in the kitchen, dressed in casual loungewear and wearing an apron, moving methodically as he
busied himself
The morning sunlight streamed through the glass windows, casting a warm glow over him as if painting him with hues of gold.
His chiseled features and sensual lips made it impossible to look away.
The usual aloofness he carried at work seemed to have melted away, replaced by an air of homely charm. Even in an apron, his striking good looks were as mesmerizing as ever, almost otherworldly.
I couldn’t help but be momentarily dazed.
“You’re awake?” Caden asked, glancing back at me when he heard a sound.
Snapping out of it, I asked curiously, “What are you doing in the kitchen?”
Willa had something to take care of today,” he replied nonchalantly.
“I see” I nodded. “You can cook?”
Caden removed his apron, saying, “Why don’t you try it and see for yourself?”
Sitting at the dining table, I took a bite of the scrambled eggs he’d made. I couldn’t hold back my praise.
This is really good.”
1 never would’ve imagined that the mighty CEO of Eclipse Group could cook so well.
My opinion of him subtly shifted..
“Have more if you like it,” Caden said with a faint smile. He then served a piece of sandwich on my plate.
This rare moment of care from him stirred an inexplicable warmth in my heart.
“Alpha, are you falling for him? I can feel your heart racing, Freya teased.
I ignored her and focused on my breakfast.
Truth be told, Caden wasn’t bad. He was tall, handsome, powerful, and wealthy. In the business world, he wielded influence with ease.
When he wasn’t being insufferable, he could almost be called the perfect partner.
Perhaps if he made breakfast for me every day, I might just consider Grandpa’s suggestion.
I was lost in my thoughts when Caden’s phone suddenly rang, shattering the peaceful atmosphere.
Picking it up, he asked in a deep voice, “What is it?”
Thanks to my keen hearing, I caught Yale’s voice on the other end.
“Mr. Holbrook, we’ve found the workers responsible for the chandelier repairs,” Yale reported.

“There were three workers involved at the time, but one of them has since resigned,” Yale continued respectfully. “The other two claim the resigned worker was the one who checked the chandelier.”
“Investigate,” Caden ordered tersely.
After ending the call, I asked tentatively, “Was that about the chandelier? Any leads?”
Caden narrowed his eyes slightly. “Still investigating,”
Sensing that the situation wasn’t simple, I didn’t press further.

After breakfast, I returned to my room and took out a tube of ointment to apply to my wound. Although it wasn’t serious, I didn’t want an unsightly scar on my fair leg.
A magnetic voice interrupted my thoughts. “Let me help.”
Looking up, I was greeted by Caden’s handsome face.
“It’s fine, I can handle it myself, I said hurriedly.
However, Caden ignored my protest. He took the ointment from my hand, knelt slightly, and carefully applied it to my leg.
“You helped me before; now it’s my turn,” he said matter–of–factly, leaving me no room to refuse.
“Fine…” I relented.
“I
The cool cream sent a shiver up my spine as his long fingers gently rubbed against my skin, creating at tingling sensation.
My face inexplicably began to heat up.
“All done.” Caden said. His gaze lingered on me as he stood up. “Make sure to reapply it on time, or it might
scar.”
“Got it,” I replied, standing up as well. However, my leg had been propped up for so long that I wobbled slightly when I stood. I instinctively grabbed onto Caden’s arm for support.
When I looked up, our eyes met.
His chin was just an inch away from my lips.
This dmned distance.
His handsome face was so close that I could hardly breathe, and my cheeks flared with warmth once more.
Caden’s POV:
Looking down at Rosaline who was blushing shyly stirred something deep inside me.
Without hesitation, I leaned closer, my lips aiming for hers.
Her familiar softness and sweetness filled my senses.
She didn’t resist.

Just as I was about to kiss her, my phone rang again.
Rosaline pushed me away. “Your phone is ringing”
Dammit! It had the worst timing.
It was Yale.
I answered with an irritated tone, “What is it now?”
Yale, sensing my displeasure, replied seriously, “Mr. Holbrook, the worker who resigned is named Isaac Weber. I’ve already sent someone to investigate. His entire family left for Fostrau a few days ago
“Fostrau?” I was surprised to hear that.
Yes. Also, Isaac’s bank account received a deposit of 500,000 a week ago, Yale added.
“Got it.” I ended the call as my mind spun.
“What’s wrong?” Rosaline asked, concern evident in her voice.
I repeated Yale’s report.
Her brows furrowed. “So, Isaac just happened to leave for Fostrau?”
I nodded. “Exactly
It was clear that the chandelier incident was no coincidence. Isaac was undoubtedly involved.
He was just a lowly repair worker. A sudden deposit of 500,000 in his account meant someone else was pulling the strings.
Who could it be? And why?
Was their target Rosaline? Annie? Or Jasper?
Or perhaps… me?
