Her flustered expression had already betrayed her.
She was doing this to target me.
But why? I’d only known Annie for a few days. Why would she harbor such hostility toward me?
Was it all because I criticized her during the rehearsal?
If she cut off the button purely to get back at me, then she was being utterly foolish.
As she herself had said, her only got the opportunity to be the spokesperson for Eclipse Group because of
Bruce.
By doing this, she wasn’t just ruining her chance; she was destroying her reputation.
“Babe, you have to stand up for me.” Annie pouted pitifully as she grabbed Bruce’s arm. “It’s clearly Rosaline’s mistake, but now she’s trying to pin the blame on me and accuse me unjustly.”
Bruce was ready to speak up, but Jasper interjected with a stern voice. “Ms. Annie, unless there’s solid. evidence, I suggest you refrain from making baseless accusations.”
I felt a wave of gratitude toward Jasper.
He trusted me unconditionally, knowing I would never make such a careless error.
Seeing Jasper come to my defense, Annie’s expression of grievance deepened. She turned to Bruce with a pitiful look. “Babe, they’re all ganging up on me.”
The murmurs among the crew grew louder.
“Would Annie really cut off the button herself?”
“I don’t know. That doesn’t seem logical.”
“So could it really be Ms. Sinclair’s fault?”
I couldn’t help but scoff mockingly. Annie truly lived up to her reputation as an actress–her performance was flawless. To someone unaware of the truth, it might actually seem like I was falsely accusing her.
Just as I was about to respond, a deep, commanding voice cut through the commotion. “What’s going on here?”
Caden walked into the studio in an imposing manner. His perfectly tailored suit highlighted his athletic build, and his chiseled features bore a slight chill.
His piercing eyes swept across the room, and his powerful presence silenced the chatter instantly.
“Mr. Holbrook, you’re just in time.” Annie said, stepping forward in her high heels as though she’d found her
savior.

She turned around, revealing the back of her dress to Caden, and said in a voice full of grievance, “Mr.” Holbrook, look at the dress Ms. Sinclair prepared for me.”
Caden’s sharp gaze fell on the dress. He frowned slightly before looking at me.
Annie continued her act, her lips trembling as if she were on the verge of tears. “How am I supposed to film in a dress like this? The buttons on Loe’s gowns are specially made. If even one is missing, we’d have to contact Loe Studio to have another one custom–made, and who knows how long that would take?
“Not only has Ms. Sinclair’s mistake delayed the entire shoot, but to make matters worse, she’s accusing me of cutting off the button myself. How could I possibly do such a thing? It’s absurd! Why would I sabotage my own shoot, waste my time, and ruin my chance?”
Unable to hold back any longer. I asked as I stared straight into her eyes, “Why is it impossible?
Annie rolled her eyes at me before saying. “Don’t be ridiculous! Do you have any proof that I cut it off?”
I responded calmly, “I thoroughly inspected the dress before giving it to you. All ten buttons were intact. After you went into the fitting room and put it on, one button was missing. It’s clear that the button either fell off in the fitting room or was deliberately cut off.”
I continued after a pause, “If it had fallen off due to a loose thread, there would be visible signs of fraying. But the spot where the button was removed is perfectly smooth. That means someone intentionally removed it. And the only people in the fitting room were you and your agent.”
“You’re slandering me!” Annie glared at me. “If I cut it off in the fitting room, why wasn’t the button found
there?”
I countered, “That’s a question only you can answer. Where did you throw the button?”
Annie scoffed. “Stop making baseless accusations. This was clearly your mistake, and now you’re trying to cover it up. You say you checked the dress beforehand, but that’s just your word. You have no proof at all.”
“Is that so?” I looked at Annie calmly and said, “If I can prove that you intentionally cut off the button, what will you say then?”
Annie’s face turned pale for a moment before she quickly regained her composure. “And how exactly do you plan to prove that? There are no cameras in the fitting room.
I smiled faintly while stepping closer to her. “There’s something you don’t know, Annie.”
Her expression faltered. “What’s that?”
“This dress was custom–designed by Loe Studio specifically for the ‘Ice and Fire‘ theme.”
“So what?” she asked defensively.
I continued calmly. “To enhance the shooting effect, the designer took special care in applying a unique substance to the diamond buttons on the dress. Under different lighting, the buttons will display various colors, highlighting the ‘Ice and Fire‘ theme.”
This was a design choice I had made deliberately. To create a stunning impact, I had conceived the idea of having the buttons change colors with the light, allowing them to shift between the Ice and Fire themes at
will.
Annie’s expression darkened. “So what does that prove?”

I looked at her hands and smirked. “When cold lighting shines on the buttons, they appear ice white, but under warm lighting, they turn a fiery red.”
I stepped closer and pointed at her hands. “You handled the button when you cut it off, didn’t you? So, the residue of the special substance must still be on your hands. All we need to do is test your hands under different lights, and the truth will come out.”
