“You got me kicked out of the company and I can’t even find a job now! After all these years, even if I didn’t achieve much, I still worked hard. Before you came along, Caden cared about me–at least a little! But ever since you showed up, everything changed! Everything!”
I sighed inwardly. Stella blamed me for all her misfortune, but did she ever stop to reflect on herself?
A mocking smile tugged at the corners of my lips. “Enough, Stella! No one set out to ruin you. If you hadn’t schemed against me, you wouldn’t have fallen this low”
Her eyes blazed with hatred, and her once–delicate features twisted into something grotesque.
“Caden only has eyes for you! He’s always protecting you. What makes you so special? Why would he risk getting hurt just to save you? I can’t accept this!”
“What do you want?” I asked, glancing around. The place was deserted, and the deep waters of the lake loomed behind me.
“Rosaline, I’ll never let you off! You should’ve died a long time ago! You’re nothing but a jinx! Today will be your last day on Earth!” Stella screamed, her voice hoarse with fury.
Before I could react, Stella transformed into a black wolf and lunged at me with jaws wide open.
“Freya!”
At my command, Freya emerged, her powerful presence filling the air.
With a mighty roar, she leaped higher than the black wolf. Her Alpha dominance radiated like an unstoppable force.
The black wolf froze mid–air as its rage was overtaken by shock and fear.
Freya didn’t relent. Twisting in mid–air, she aimed her sharp fangs at the black wolf’s throat.
“Don’t kill her!”
I yelled through our bond.
“I need to know who’s behind this!”
Freya growled and veered away from the wolf’s vital points at the last moment.
Her massive body collided with the black wolf, sending it tumbling into the lake.
Splash!
The black wolf lost its balance and plunged into the lake.
“Help! Help!”

I motioned for Freya to retreat, shifting back to my human form. Standing on the shore with my arms crossed, I gazed coldly at Stella, who was struggling to stay afloat. “Stella, you reap what you sow. Those who harm others often end up hurting themselves.”
“There’s wolfsbane in the water! Hurry… save me!” Stella’s face twisted in terror.
Wolfsbane?
No wonder she reverted to her human form so quickly. Wolfsbane affects wolves far more severely than it does humans.
“You brought the wolfsbane here?” I asked, narrowing my eyes.
Stella frantically nodded. “Yes, it was me! I wanted to push you into the lake, so you’d be poisoned and drown!”
A chill ran down my spine. Her plan was truly malicious. If she had succeeded, I might not have survived even with my strength.
“Who put you up to this?” I demanded.
Stella couldn’t answer me at all.
A dark shadow crept across her face–it was the telltale sign of wolfsbane poisoning.
Her struggles ceased as she began to sink deeper into the lake.
I took a few steps forward, debating whether it was worth risking exposure to wolfsbane to save someone so undeserving.
Just then, a sharp voice rang out behind me. “Rosaline! You pushed Stella into the lake!”
I turned to see Queenie storming toward me, fury written all over her face.
Beside her was a massive wolf with a menacing presence as it charged closer.
I stepped aside slightly, signaling Freya to remain on guard.
The timing of her arrival couldn’t have been a coincidence. She had to be Stella’s accomplice.
What a coincidence. Last night, Caden mysteriously ended up with Wendy, and today, I’m ambushed by Stella by the lake.
“You murderer!” Queenie shouted as she came closer. Her gaze was fixed on Stella’s body sinking into the lake. Yet, instead of attempting a rescue, she smirked and raised her voice dramatically.
“What nonsense are you spouting?” I replied, sneering at her obvious performance.
Queenie pointed an accusing finger at me. “I saw you pushed Stella into the lake. Are you still going to deny
it?”
I almost laughed out loud.
Queenie had mastered the art of lving perfectly.

I stared at her like she was an idi*t. “Queenie, are you blind? Stella tried to kill me. She even laced the lake with wolfsbane. She’s the real culprit here.”
Queenie was stunned. Without waiting for her to recover, I turned to leave.
Stella’s actions had already proven she wasn’t worth saving. And, Queenie’s appearance only confirmed her involvement in this scheme.
