My parents froze in shock, while a wave of bitterness surged in my heart, and tears streamed down my face.
Seeing this, Natalia stepped forward, pulling at me.
Stop pretending. You stole my things, and you think you’re justified?”
Then she called for the staff to hold me down.
Perhaps feeling a pang of guilt, my father tried to stop her.
“That’s enough, Natalia. You’re going too far.”
“Too far?” Natalia scoffed. “Dad, Mom, my ring is worth tens of millions. I’m only searching
her to get it back. How is that too far?”
Watching her twisted expression, my stomach churned with disgust.
Alex, ever eager to fan the flames, added, “Don’t be swayed by her pitiful act. Natalia’s right.
That ring is valuable–it has to be found.”
“Besides, what’s the big deal about a body search? It’s not like she’s so delicate.”
Ignoring my parents‘ attempts to reason with her, Natalia insisted on bringing in the staff.
“You, help me hold her down. I’m going to search her properly to see if she’s hiding my

She even told one of the staff members to record it on video.
My other relatives just watched, smirking as if they were watching a show.

“Did you not hear me? Hold her down! Or do you not want this job? My husband is the
richest man in New York–one word from me, and you’re all out.”
Her arrogant attitude made me want to tear her apart.

atalia’s eyes lit up with satisfaction.
“Perfect timing! My husband can teach her a lesson himself. Now, get moving.”
Alex jumped in excitedly, “Didn’t you hear my niece? Her husband will be here soon. If you don’t move now, you’ll all be fired.”
The staff hesitated no longer, inching closer to me as I backed away, frightened. They pinned me to the ground, and I struggled desperately, but I couldn’t break free.
Just as I thought I was completely helpless, a familiar voice came from behind me.
“Stop! Let’s see who dares lay a hand on her!”
It was Edward.
“Kate, are you hurt?”
He quickly helped me up, wrapping me in his arms. At the sight of him, all the humiliation I’d endured finally broke free, and I burst into tears.
Edward looked at me, his eyes filled with concern.
“I’m so sorry, Kate. I’m late, and you’ve suffered because of it. Tell me who hurt you, and I’ll make them pay.”
With Edward’s arrival, the staff who had been pulling at my clothes immediately backed away, too afraid to even look up. Alex seemed shaken, a hint of guilt in his eyes.
But Natalia let out a scoff, laughing.

“What kind of dramatic scene are you two performing? Saying you’ll make us pay–do you even know who I am? Making you disappear would be as simple as lifting a finger.”
