Chapter 102
Chapter 102
Laura stood in the rain, refusing to leave. She didn’t want to be separated from Arianna and kept calling Arianna’s name.
Upstairs, Matteo stood by the window, watching the figure at the gate under the dim light. There was no trace of the love or concern he once had for her.
Arianna sat on the floor, crying repeatedly, “Daddy, I want Mommy! “You can dislike me, but please don’t bully Mommy, Don’t separate me from Mommy… Daddy…“.
Matteo seemed deaf to her pleas. His fists clenched tightly at his sides. He thought it was time to put an end to this. He picked up his phone and called the security guards. “Tell Laura this…”
The guard relayed Matteo’s message to Laura at the gate. “If you don’t want Ari to keep crying, stop making a scene outside
The guard threw her luggage at Laura and shut the gate, leaving her stunned.
Laura stood there for a while, and then turned and walked into the rain, her face a mix of tears and rainwater.
Laura left Tanglewood Oaks, unsure of where to go or what her future held.
She looked up at the sky, the heavy rain hitting her face. Overwhelmed with grief, she collapsed on the road, losing
consciousness.
A car approached, its headlights illuminating Laura’s body in the rain.
The driver stopped, got out with an umbrella, and checked on her.
Recognizing it was Laura, he quickly carried her to his car and drove to His Grace Hospital. He rushed her to the emergency room. “Doctor, someone fainted!”
The medical staff quickly pushed the stretcher over, and the man put Laura on it.
After an examination, the doctor said, “She’s fine. She’s anemic, overworked, and emotionally distressed.”
Laura was kept overnight for observation. The man paid the bills and bought her some fruit and milk.
He stood by her bed, studying her face. He thought, ‘Isn’t she the wife of a wealthy businessman? Why was she alone, unconscious on the street?’
The Laura he once knew was full of life, but now she seemed like a shell of her former self.
His phone rang, and he stepped out to answer it.
“Mr. Kiplin, are you home yet?” a sweet voice asked.
“Not yet. I found someone unconscious on the road and took her to the hospital. I’m heading back now,” Kyle replied.
“You’re so kind. Be careful driving in the rain. Goodnight.”
“Goodnight.”
Kyle sighed and headed to the elevator, wondering how to contact Laura’s family.
As he reached the lobby, he ran into Doris, who was waiting for the elevator.

They recognized each other immediately.
“You’re… Kyle… no, Mr. Kiplin. It’s been a long time,” Doris said, surprised to see Kyle after so many years.
“Doris, it’s been a while. Can we talk?” Kyle asked.
They sat down in the lobby.

“On my way home, I found your sister unconscious on the road and brought her to the hospital. She’s in room 205 on the third floor. Go see her,” Kyle explained.
Doris was shocked. “Thank you for bringing her here. I’ll go check on her.”
Doris hurried to leave, but Kyle stopped her. “Doris, wait. One more thing–don’t tell her it was me who saved her. Just pretend we never met.”
Doris turned to look at Kyle. He was dressed in a sharp suit, exuding maturity and sophistication, with a luxurious watch on his wrist. He looked every bit the successful elite.
Compared to the young, struggling man he used to be, he now seemed confident and accomplished.
“Alright,” Doris agreed with a smile, knowing it was for the best. “How much do I owe you for my sister’s medical expenses? I’ll pay you back.”
“Don’t worry about it. Just take care of her. I’ll be going now,” Kyle said before leaving.
Doris watched Kyle’s retreating figure, sighing at how unpredictable life could be.
She composed herself and headed to Laura’s ward.
Laura lay in the bed, her pale face blending with the white sheets. Her colorless lips highlighted her exhaustion.
Laura’s eyelids fluttered, and she slowly opened her eyes, her vision clearing as she recognized Doris.
“Doris…” Laura’s voice was hoarse, and she coughed lightly.
“Laura, you’re awake,” Doris said, relieved to see her sister conscious.
Laura looked around, confused. “Why am I in the hospital?”
“You fainted,” Doris explained, handing her a glass of water. “Here, drink some water first.”
Laura took a few sips. “How did I faint? And how did I end up here?”
Doris hesitated, Kyle’s face flashing in her mind. She pursed her lips. “The hospital called me, so I came.”
Laura rubbed her temples, trying to piece together what had happened.
She remembered being kicked out of the Webb family. She remembered being separated from Arianna.
The sound of Arianna’s heartbroken cries echoed in her ears.
She reached out and grabbed Doris‘ hand, her eyes filled with despair. “Doris, Ari…” Her voice broke, and she couldn’t finish her sentence.
The next moment, she burst into tears, her entire body trembling with grief.
Doris held Laura, letting her lean on her, and gently patted her back with one hand. “Laura, take your time, no rush. What happened to Ari?”

Why does he want to take Ari? Is he planning to divorce you? Doris tentatively suggested the worst–case scenario.
