Chapter 109
Doris sat on the sofa and patted the cushions. “I’ll sleep here.”
She thought, ‘What? Does he really think I’d go sleep in his room?”
The last time Laura stayed over, it wasn’t her idea to sleep with Lewis.
“Good choice.” Lewis raised an eyebrow.
He went to the kitchen, grabbed a bottle of water from the fridge, and took a few sips.
He walked back to the living room, where Doris was focused on the TV, eating fruit. “I’m going to bed. Goodnight.”
Doris nodded without looking at him. Once Lewis was gone, she flopped onto the sofa like a deflated fish.
The house was quiet, with only the sound of the TV filling the living room.
Doris watched TV alone, losing track of time. She didn’t even notice when Laura appeared.
Laura stood between Doris and the TV. “Doris, it’s 10 PM. Why aren’t you going to bed?”
“I’m not tired. I want to watch a bit more,” Doris said, hugging her knees.
“You’re not planning to sleep on the sofa, are you?” Laura sat beside her, speaking earnestly. “Doris, whatever issues you and Lewis have, newlyweds shouldn’t sleep apart. Men can be turned on if you just act cute.”
“We don’t have any issues,” Doris said, so there was no need to act cute.
“Get up.” Laura turned off the TV. “Come with me.”
Doris‘ eyes lit up. It seemed Laura couldn’t bear to let her sleep on the sofa.
Doris‘ heart leapt with joy.
Laura took her hand and led her to the bedroom door, where she knocked.
“Laura, why are you knocking? You’ll wake Ari,” Doris whispered.
As soon as she finished speaking, the door opened, and Lewis stood there.
“Laura, what are you doing?” Doris tried to pull her hand free.
“Lewis, I’ve brought your wife back. You two have a good night. I won’t disturb you,” Laura said, giving Doris a gentle push.
Doris was pushed into Lewis‘ arms by Laura, their chests pressed together.
The fresh, masculine scent filled her nostrils, and Doris, as if scalded, quickly stepped back, putting some distance between them.
Her face visibly turned bright red, like a ripe pomegranate, utterly enticing.
“Sis-”
“Calling me ‘sis‘ won’t help. Go to bed,” Laura said with a stern warning in her eyes.
Doris had no choice but to say, “Goodnight, Laura.”

Chapter 109
“Goodnight, Laura,” Lewis said, his hand lightly resting on Doris‘ slender waist. “I’ll take good care of her.”
Laura smiled in satisfaction and waved them off.
Lewis pulled Doris into the room and closed the door. He let go of her hand and walked over to sit on the bed.
Doris quickly stepped forward to explain, “My sister guessed that we’ve been sleeping in separate rooms, so…”
“So she wants you to work on having a baby?” Lewis raised an eyebrow.
Doris‘ eyes widened. She thought, ‘Why did he only pick up on the important part?‘
“No,” Doris denied, “Don’t worry, I definitely don’t have that intention.”
Lewis chuckled lightly. He thought, ‘Even if she did, did she think it would be that easy to succeed?‘
Afraid he wouldn’t believe her, Doris glanced around and pointed to a chaise lounge. “I’ll sleep there.”
She hurried over and was about to lie down.
Lewis grabbed her, and the unprepared Doris nearly fell into his arms.
She steadied herself by placing a hand on his shoulder.
“What’s wrong?” Doris asked, puzzled.
“Doris, wash up before sleeping,” Lewis said, holding her wrist and leading her to the bathroom door. He opened it and ushered her inside.
“This is your room. I… I don’t have anything here,” Doris stood still, frowning slightly.
Lewis pulled out a new toothbrush and towel from the drawer under the sink and handed them to her.
“I don’t have pajamas.” Doris threw another problem at him.
“Go get them from your room,” Lewis said.
“My sister will think I’m using it as an excuse. She won’t open the door, and she and Ari are already asleep. I don’t want to wake them.” Doris‘ reasoning was sound. “How about I borrow one of your T–shirts?”
That seemed to be the only feasible solution.
Lewis turned and walked out of the bathroom, opened the wardrobe, and took out a brand–new black T–shirt.
Doris obediently stood there waiting for him.
Lewis shook his head helplessly at her demeanor, and then handed her the T–shirt. “Hurry up and get ready. I like it quiet.”
After Lewis left, Doris locked the bathroom door. She turned on the shower and began to undress.
Doris noticed the shower gel on the shelf–blue, labeled “mint sea salt.” The brand seemed expensive.
She glanced at the other toiletries, all from the same brand. She thought, ‘This man really knows how to waste money!
Half an hour later, Doris finally emerged. She was wearing Lewis‘ black T–shirt, which, given her height of 166 cm, reached her knees like a short dress.
The black color complemented her perfect skin, and the blue veins beneath her skin were visible under the light. Her long, slender legs were smooth and pale, and her plump, round toes looked like lustrous pearls, utterly adorable.

Doris noticed Lewis gaze lingering on her legs. She pressed down the hem of the T–shirt, almost blurting out, “What are you looking at?*
“Quite stunning.” Lewis teased, knowing exactly how to push her buttons.
Doris, as expected, was easily flustered. Her face turned red, her ears burned, and even her skin took on a faint pink hue.
“You’re so inappropriate, Doris retorted.
He had always been aloof and unapproachable, but now he was being cheeky.
“Doris, the bed is more comfortable. Want to-
“No!” Doris loudly refused, as if he were a mating beast. “I’m tired. I’m going to sleep.”
Doris quickly lay down on the chaise lounge, grabbed a pillow, and hugged it tightly, closing her eyes.
Lewis glanced at her back, raised an eyebrow, but didn’t tease her further.
He lay down on the bed and turned off the light.
Doris didn’t know when she fell asleep, but when she opened her eyes again, she found herself not on the chaise lounge but in Lewis‘ bed.
She was wide awake in an instant, sitting up in shock.
Lewis was nowhere to be seen on the bed.
She reached out to touch the empty sheets, long devoid of his warmth, but the room still seemed to be filled with his scent and presence.
She thought, ‘How did I end up here? Did I climb into the bed myself?‘
As she pondered, the door opened, and Lewis‘ eyes met hers.
Doris flipped out of the bed at lightning speed, quickly admitting, “I don’t know how I ended up in the bed…”
Lewis entered and closed the door. He had just returned from his morning run, his workout clothes damp with sweat, clinging to his well–defined, muscular body–tight and sexy.
Those abs were truly something to admire in Doris‘ eyes. She swallowed hard.
