Chapter 126
Doris went along with her words and smiled, “What do you want me to say?”
“Words of encouragement and support, Lola leaned closer to Doris, “How did you get Mr. Hartman to be so devoted, give me some tips.”
“I didn’t do anything.” Doris had no tips to offer. “Then I wish you success in your endeavors
“Then I’ll leave the shop to you. I’m off to do something big,” Lola said, taking her packed snacks and coffee and leaving.
Lola put on her sunglasses and drove her fiery red sports car to Goodwin LLP.
On the 10th Floor at Goodwin LLP, Lola, in a black off–shoulder top and a blue irregular printed pencil skirt, showing off her beautiful calves, walked gracefully to the front desk in her high heels.
“Miss, how can I help you?” the front desk staff asked politely.
“I’m here to see Lawyer Ivan.” Lola gently removed her sunglasses, revealing her charming and enchanting almond eyes.
The front desk staff was stunned by Lola’s beauty.
“Do you… have an appointment?”
“No.”
“Oh, Mr. Mitchell is not in the office, he left two hours ago.”
“When will he be back?”
“We’re not sure. If you want to see him, you can make an appointment, and we’ll arrange a time for you to meet with Mr. Mitchell later.”
“No need.” Lola had mustered the courage to make the first move today and wouldn’t leave so easily. “Do you have a guest lounge here? I’d like to wait for Mr. Mitchell to return.”
“Yes. Please follow me.”
At that moment, the elevator opposite the front desk opened, and Ivan, in a custom black suit, stepped out elegantly.
Ivan’s gaze met Lola’s, a flash of surprise in his peach blossom eyes.
“Mr. Mitchell, hello,” Lola smiled, approaching him.
Ivan, with one hand casually in his pocket, looked relaxed and suave. “Ms. Bates, what brings you here?”
“Of course, I have something to discuss with you.” Lola probed, “Do you have time?”
“Yes, I have time for YOU.” Ivan pulled his hand out of his pocket and gestured for her to follow. “Come with me.”
With the front desk staff watching in envy, Lola confidently walked in behind Ivan.
“Ms. Bates is really gorgeous. What’s her relationship with Mr. Mitchell?”
“She’s probably not his girlfriend, right? Didn’t you hear him call her ‘Ms. Bates‘? And she called him ‘Mr. Mitchell.‘ That means they’re not that close.”
“Come on, in public, of course, they’d keep it formal. Who’d be dumb enough to make it obvious?”

Ivan fed1ls toward this office, drawing plenty of curious glances along the say.
Lois’s beauty was striking–bed and impossible to ignore.
As ivan pacted his accictant’s desk, he tapped his knuckles lightly against it. “Make two cups of coffee?
“No need” Lola lifted the paper bag in her hand. “I brought some with me?
Ivan nodded, and then pulled open the office door and motioned for Lola to enter first.
As he took off his suit jacket, he said, “Make yourself comfortable. I just need to handle something real quick
“Alright.” Lola settled onto the leather couch and placed the paper bag on the coffee table.
Half an hour passed before Ivan finally got up from his desk and walked over to sit down. “Sorry for keeping you waiting.”
Lola waved it off. “No worries, I’m the one interrupting your work.”
Ivan leaned forward slightly, his black tie hanging naturally. “So, what brings you here today?”
“Nothing urgent.” Lola took out the coffee and pastries from the bag and set them in front of him. “This is from my café. I made the coffee myself, and Doris made the pastries. I just thought I’d drop some off for you to try.”
Ivan glanced at the coffee and the carefully arranged pastries. “That’s really thoughtful of you.”
“Try it and let me know what you think. We’d love some feedback.” Lola looked at him expectantly.
Under her eager gaze, Ivan picked up the coffee and took a small sip.
“Not bad,” he said approvingly.
“Of course! I’m a certified barista, you know. I’d say my coffee is just as good–if not better–than the ones you usually drink.” Lola sounded confident. “If you like it, I can bring you a cup every day.”
Ivan looked a little caught off guard. “Ms. Bates-”
“Ivan, you can call me Lola, Lola said, trying to close the distance between them.
Ivan laced his fingers together with elegant ease.
“Lola, thanks for the coffee. It really is good, but you don’t have to go out of your way every day. If I want some, I can just have my assistant order from your café’s app. That way, it’s convenient and won’t take up your time.”
“It’s really no trouble at all. Lola shook her head and locked eyes with him. “Getting to see you every day makes me happy.”
“Lola, I have a pretty busy schedule,” he said gently.
“I know. I’ll just drop off the coffee and leave–I won’t bother you during work.” She held up three fingers in a promise.
Ivan smiled, “Ms. Bates, what exactly are you trying to do?”

Chapter 126
“Ivan, isn’t it obvious? I’m trying to win you over,” Lola said, completely upfront.

“Hmm… How should I put this?” Ivan chose his words carefully. “I already told you–I like someone else. So, as much as I appreciate your feelings, I can’t return them.”
“And I already told you–that’s your business. Liking you and pursuing you is mine. You can reject me, but I’m not giving up that easily.” Lola’s eyes shone with determination.
Ivan was famous for his stunning looks. His naturally soulful eyes had always drawn plenty of admirers.
Lola wasn’t the first woman to go after him, so he wasn’t particularly surprised.
What made this situation different was that she was his best friend Lewis‘ wife’s close friend.
He didn’t want to hurt Lola’s feelings, but he also couldn’t treat her the same way he did other admirers. At the very least, he had to be considerate of Doris.
Since rejecting her outright hadn’t worked, he needed to find another way to make her give up.
“Ms. Bates, I can’t be your boyfriend, but we can be friends,” Ivan suggested.
“I’m greedy–I want to be your girlfriend.” Lola flashed a bright smile. “But that’s alright. I’ll agree to start as friends. I won’t bother you anymore today. Let’s meet up next time.”
She got up and left without pushing too hard–she didn’t want to come on too strong and annoy him.
Winning someone over was a long–term battle. She needed patience.
“I’ll walk you out,” Ivan said like a gentleman.
After sending Lola off, Ivan called Lewis.
